Kenzie POV

He used my full name.

He didn't punish me.

Am I really that bad?

Is he done with me?

"You okay, Kenzie?" I hear and look to the door.

"Eddy." I sniffle and he comes in wrapping me in a hug.

"Big or little?" He asks.

"Big." I answer and he nods.

"In that case what the crud where you thinking?" He yells at me and I cry more. "No! Don't cry I'm sorry. I was just so worried... you know you are my only friend that doesn't dominate me. You're special to me Kenz. I can't lose you."

"I'm sorry... I was trying to help... I was gonna come back... I just didn't want the pack hurt... now Brenton hates me. He doesn't care about me any more. He doesn't want me... I'm sorry Eddy but I think I might not be welcome here any more." I ramble sobbing.

"What makes you think that? Brenton loves you!" He argues.

"He... he didn't punish me." I mumble. "He said if I run again I wouldn't walk for a week but he just ignored me... he said before he punishes me because he cares. After a punishment everything is forgiven. He doesn't care any more. He doesn't forgive me for running. He is disappointed in me. I bet he wishes he had a different mate."

"Maybe he just needed to think. Believe me he loves you." Eddy argues and I shake my head.

"I wish that were true."

"Hey Eddy can we have a minute?" I hear from the doorway and Eddy leaves. As soon as he is gone Brenton closes the door.

"Hi princess, how are you feeling?" He asks and I try not to cry. This is it. This is where he kicks me out.

"Fine." I mumble looking at the floor.

"I was worried about you." He says and I nod.

"Sorry."

"You could have been hurt." He adds.

"I know."

"Are you not even going to look at me?" He asks and I look up tears in my eyes.

"Just do it already! Kick me out! Reject me! I can't handle this!... you know what? No! I can't hear it!" I yell before diving out the window, shifting, and flying away.

Brenton POV

What did I do wrong?

I was about ready to tell her I get it.

She wasn't doubting me. I need to get her to talk to me before making decisions but she trusts me as an Alpha and hopefully as her daddy. I can see that now.

I'm upset but I can't blame her for protecting our pack even if her plan was not well thought out. She was trying to be a good Luna and I love her for that.

But now I'm watching her fly away. I link a tracker to follow her before finding Eddy.

"She ran." I tell him. "What's going on with her?"

"You need to punish her." Eddy says and I give him a confused look.

"She was doing what she thought was right. I won't punish her for that. I just want her to consult me before making decisions but I couldn't tell her that before she left." I say and he laughs.

"What is the purpose of punishment?" He asks and I roll my eyes.

"To correct behavior, to let the sub know an action is unacceptable." I answer.

"And why do you punish your sub?" He asks.

"Because I care. Because I want what is best for her." I answer.

"And after a punishment all is forgiven?" He asks.

"Yes Eddy, all is forgiven. What are you getting at?" I ask.

"She expected punishment. She knew she broke her promise to you by running. By not punishing her you made her think that you don't care. That you don't forgive her." He explains.

"But that's not it... I see her point of view." I say.

"But you don't. You understand why she did it sure, but you don't get how emotionally scarred that girl is. She needs her daddy not her mate. She needs you to tell her she is never to leave your side again because right now she thinks you don't want her any more. Punish her for not talking to you first. It's good you see that she was being a good Luna and that side of her will be happy you respect her but your little girl needs to know her daddy won't let her get away with doing things on her own." He lectures me. Leave it to a sub to tell me how to be a dom.

Kenzie POV

I don't even know where to go. I don't have anyone to go to. Maybe Landon? But he will tell Brenton... I don't really have anyone else though... maybe if I explain everything he will help me.

I fly to his office and chirp at the window. When he opens it I fly in.

"Kenzie? What are you doing here little Luna?" He asks and I chirp. He nods before going into his personal bathroom and coming back with a button up. "Shift and dress. I won't look." He sets the shirt on a chair and turns his back to me.

"I'm done." I tell him and he turns around.

"Have a seat little one... now what brings you here?" He asks.

"Brenton doesn't want me any more." I mumble. "I didn't have anywhere else to go."

"I'm sure that's not true." Landon says and I shake my head crying.

"It is! He called me by my name! Not baby girl, little one, Kenzie... he didn't even call me little girl like he does when he's mad! He called me Mckenzie! Then he just ignored me when we got home. He hates me!" I rant yelling at him.

"Little girl." My head snaps to the door. "You ran away while I was talking to you." Brenton walks into the room and stands in front of me. "Mind giving us the room Landy?"

"I'm gonna go grab a coffee." Landon says before walking out and closing the door behind him.

"Brenton..."

"No." He cuts me off. "You are going to listen to me little girl. You do not run away while we are talking. You do not make decisions without talking to me first. You do not leave without me knowing where you are going and you most certainly do not sacrifice yourself to a blood sucker!... I am so very proud of you for putting the pack first. I love that you want to protect our people. You are an amazing Luna... but I can not let you think it is okay to make decisions without me. We are a team as Alpha and Luna and outside of that I am your daddy. No matter the dynamic you are not a solo act... I'm gonna make sure you don't forget that."

I gulp at that but it feels like a weight is lifted from my chest.

He does care.
