Annalise and Sinbad endured much torture and punishment, but even after all that, they were still alive. Annalise stares down at the table they sat at as she'd given up on anything. Sinbad tried to keep telling her that it'd be fine and that he'd get her out of there, but she hadn't said a word to anyone in weeks. During the time, they were both punished harshly. Their bodies and minds were worn down. Finally, she allowed them to be with the other children. Annalise's zoned out eyes stared at Masrur who stares up at her. Masrur is in charge of looking after them.
"The children here really like Lady Maader, huh?" Sinbad asks quietly. The children explain and then Masrur takes Sinbad and Annalise's hand and drags them away. They meet a man who explains the system to them.
The Mariadel Company manages the special administrative district of Ria Venus Island. However, that's only one side of their business. Underneath, it hides a darker side. Slave trading. The dark business of treating humans as mere things that can be bought and sold in the market. In other words, human trafficking. The Mariadel Company supported the slave marker and became the world's most prominent company dealing in the slave trade. They were able to gain such a position because of the way the head of the company divided slaved into groups. In other words, she was able to decide what qualified slaves as different classes.
Slaves that had few abilities, or were unattractive, or had little worth were given a low class rating. Those slaves were 'shipped out' to the marketplace immediately and out for auction. However, it was different for slaves given a high class. They were kept in Lady Maader's home to receive various training and they because high class slaves whose services were offered only to the elite. The 'class' selectin determined the course of a slave's life, and the one Lady Maader out in charge of making this decision was her head slave, Fatima.

"I earned Lady Maader's complete trust. As proof of that, Lady Maader has allowed me to act as her right hand, as her head slave. My current position and way of life are both thanks to Lady Maader... Lady Maader means everything to me." Fatima says.
"She's really pretty!" A little girl says.
"Yeah." Masrur says as he stares up at Annalise, "Hey, what's with your pink hair?" Annalise doesn't reply. She just stares blankly as the children.
"Masrur! Pick us up!" Some kids say as they sit on a pile of rocks. Masrur picks them up with ease.
"Masrur is amazing, huh?! He can lift up this big heavy thing and he can fight against adults and... is there some kind of secret to that red hair? Hey, Hey, Masrur!" The kids say.
"It's because he's a Fanalis." Annalise finally says. It sounded hoarse as she hadn't spoken in weeks.
"Yeah, I'm from the Dark Continent." Masrur says, "How did you know that?"
"I'm one too." Annalise says, "I was born on the Dark Continent. Taken from my home when I was just an infant. Sold when I was two... to a man who forced me to work. At that time... I wasn't valued as much."
"Hey, come here a minute." Fatima says as he grabs Annalise and Sinbad and drags them away.
Jafar sat in front of the King of Balbadd. Rashid listens to everything he says before he closes his eyes and lets out a sigh.
"I understand the situation. He ran off and did something rash, didn't he?" Rashid asks.
"That's because Reim has a country that has prospered thanks to the existence of slaves." Jafar explains.
"The company has flourished because of the fact that slavery is an institution in Reim. If the Balbadd Royal Family was to Intervene, it would become an International incident. It would damage the friendly relations between the two countries." Rashid says.

"We mustn't interfere, King Rashid." His advisor/guard says.
"That's right. There's nothing we can do." Rashid says.
"P-Please somehow! We're not asking for help on a national level! Please just give us your advice as a merchant!" Jafar says.
"I can't." Rashid says, "No matter what kind of advice I give you, if they find out and tie it back to Balbadd, it will still be considered International Interference. You understand that, don't you?"
'That... can't be...' Jafar's thoughts say, 'Sinbad and Annalise... they introduced me to everyone... They gave me a place to belong. They taught me that there is light in the world. How have I grown?! How am I good follower?! I haven't changed at all, have I?' Jafar begins to cry at the thought of being unable to save Sinbad and Annalise as they appear like ghosts smiling and holding their hands out for him.
'I can't save someone so important to me like them...' Jafar's thoughts say.
"Not so fast, boy. I didn't say I'd given up on anything." Rashid says and Jafar looks up in shock.
"Your majesty!" His guards say.
"W-Wait a minute! Please! We can't interfere!" One says.
"That is right. Because it would be an international incident. However, Rashid Saluja, King of Balbadd is only visiting here in Remano on his foreign travels. I'm not taking part in diplomatic activities and official business during every moment of the day. I have time to walk around the city and sit down and enjoy my meals. In other words, I have at least that much freedom." Rashid says.
"Huh?" Jafar asks.
"Jafar... Let me say this once more. I can't help Sindria Trading company as the King of Balbadd. However, I can take the time to sit down and talk with a friend like this. Especially if that friend is you, one of the followers of my sword friends, Sinbad and Annalise. But, I won't give advice or take action. I'll leave it up to you to decide how we spend our time together." Rashid says, "So, for example, we could do something like... just sit here and have tea like this." He holds up his glass and grins at Jafar.
"Let's have tea again. I'll leave the arrangements up to you." Rashid says before he sees himself out.
'King Rashid... I'm not sure what he meant, but that was surely some kind of important hint... I must take this information back to the company.' Jafar's thoughts say as he stands outside the door.
"Hey! Straighten up a little. You're going to make me look bad, too!" Fatima says and Sinbad stands up straight while Annalise already was. Annalise looks up at him with blank eyes.
"Listen up! Starting today, you'll betrained on how to do my job. For some reason, she wants you both... You two arenow the assistants to the head slave. Be happy! Also, those clothes you are nowwearing are only given to slaves with official positions. So you two bettertake good care of them." Fatima says.

NOVA INTERIT.US
It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. I will be narrating a podcast version later this year there. https://novainteritus.substack.com/

Secrets of the Blades
Keziah doesn't like getting into other people's troubles. He learned that the hard way, many, many times. What good it does. A "thank you"? A little bit of extra coin? No. Kez knows better than this, he would stick to completing each contract exactly as the instructions say. No extra work, no helping lost puppies along the way, his talking sword gives him enough headaches on its own. But a peculiar contract would force him to change his attitude, at least for the foreseeable future. He will uncover the secrets of this world, whether he likes it or not. *** Adventure fantasy with a bit of progression, Inspired by (mainly) 16-17th century Europe. Magic system based on mana and controlling elements.with a little science. No continent shattering powers. No harem, no sexual content. I will try to upload 1 chapter per week but I can't guarantee that.

The Systems of the Multiverse - A Guide for the Multiversal Traveler
The Systems of the Multiverse have their issues. I, an observer from outside the multiverse have made it into my mission to tell you, the multiversal traveler about those issues and dangers. This is a relatively low effort NaNoWriMo and Writhathon project. I want to test myself if I can manage 55k words in a month, likely updating every single day until the end. This story is told in the form of an in universe book. Well, I say story... While this definetly won't be great, I still hope it will be enjoyable. I do my best to avoid grammar mistakes and spelling issues, but won't promise anything. Corrections are welcome, this is also an excercise to improve my writing from a technical standpoint. Not from a worldbuilding and character standpoint however, for that you need time. Oh, the keyboards (and computers) that the observer destroys are not real and only exists in story to have an excuse to easily end this story at the end of NaNoWriMo. I also personally like reading LitRPG stories, so this isn't meant to hate them. It might come over that way, but many of those issues are simply fun to think about: what would really happen if the world is so, seen through a lease of negativity :-) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
