《Bruce's Best Friend - Discontinued》Chapter 8

Bruce, Percy, and Dick spent the entire day watching movies, going to the beach and just spending time with each other. During the day, with Dick there, Bruce didn't get much alone time with Percy, so he cooked her dinner.
They ate a delicious meal while they caught up. Percy told him, in more detail about the Giant War and her life afterward. Bruce told her some things, but Percy thought a lot of it was vague. However, she didn't push him about it, thinking that he would talk when he was ready.
After they had finished dinner, Bruce hesitated for a second. He had been thinking about this all day. He wanted to tell her about being Batman, but he didn't want to put her in danger or have her look at him differently. On the other hand, he knew that if she found out by herself (and she would eventually) he would lose her. Finally, he decided that he didn't want to risk losing her trust.
"I have something to show you," he said seriously.
Percy frowned. "What is it?" she asked worriedly.
Bruce took her hand and led her to his dad's study, where the grandfather clock that hid the Cave stood. He put his hand on the specific part of the clock that would read his prints. Percy's eyebrows went up to her hairline, but she said nothing. The clock slid up to reveal a high-tech elevator. He stepped into it and held his hand out. No words were spoken but Percy knew what that gesture meant.
Do you trust me?
Without hesitation, Percy took his hand and stepped into the life with him.
Yes.
"What is this?" Percy asked curiously.
"You'll see," Bruce replied cryptically.

Percy rolled her eyes. He could be so mysterious at times.
The doors opened up and Percy stepped out and forward, while Bruce remained in the back of the cave.
Percy's eyes looked all over her surroundings. It was a giant cave filled with gadgets and gizmos. A giant supercomputer sat in one corner. The walls were lined with grappling hooks and stunners and more weapons. In the center, there was a large training area, with bo staffs, punching bags, hooks hanging from the ceiling, and even a couple swords. Farthest away from her was a magnificent black car that looked like Nico and Leo got together and built themselves a baby. One another side was an assortment of odd items: a giant playing card, a giant penny, a giant dinosaur skeleton and a bloody sword.
Wait...
Something caught Percy's eye. She slowly walked up to a large glass case. Something was on display inside. A costume. A very familiar costume. With a large flowing black cape, a pointy-eared cowl, and a famous utility belt, a realization hit Percy all at once.
Bruce was Batman.
Bruce was Batman.
Percy had heard of Batman a couple of years back, watching a new tv in the Hephaestus Cabin. She remembered being extremely curious about the guy. She herself was kind of born into the hero game. She was raised to save her friends and possibly the world. But here was this ordinary mortal with no powers at all, risking his own life to fight evil. He was an inspiration. Even the camp thought so.
Percy remembered one little kid, who, when he was brought to camp, said, "Are you going to teach me how to fight bad guys like Batman?"
Percy had smiled, laughed and said, "Exactly like Batman."
And Percy was smiling now.

Bruce stood behind Percy as she stared at his uniform in the case. He was nervous. He couldn't see her face to tell if she was angry, scared, or even happy. He had no idea what he would do if she thought of him differently now.
Then she turned around. And she was smiling. A small smile that got even bigger as she walked up to him until their faces were only about a foot apart. Her eyes were proud and full of love.
"I always knew you had the heart of a hero," Percy said, staring him straight in the eye, "And now you've got the cape to match."
It took a lot to render the Dark Knight speechless. Needless to say, this did the trick.
Normally, Bruce didn't do anything without calculated reasoning and research and planning. For the first time in a long time, he shut out his mind and let his heart take over.
He leaned forward and kissed Percy.
She responded almost immediately, kissing back with as much passion as he had. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. Percy snaked her hands around his neck and one went up into his hair. Bruce could taste the ocean on her lips and it was the greatest feeling. Reluctantly he pulled back, only breathing slightly hard. Percy rested her forehead on his.
"I love you," he breathed first, barely whispering.
Percy smiled wider and kissed him briefly again.
"I love you too."
He leaned in to capture her in another kiss, but at the last second, she pulled away and gestured to the glass case.
"But you gotta explain all this."
Bruce cracked a smile and stepped up to her again. He put his arm around his waist and looked at his costume with her.
"Well, it all started...
...And then you showed up."
Percy stared at Bruce, her eyes slightly wide.
"You are amazing," she said, shaking her head slightly, as she pulled Bruce into the kiss she denied him before.
Suddenly she pulled back again.
"Wait. Does this mean I get to know who the rest of the Justice League really are?" she asked excitedly.
Bruce smirked and gestured to the cave.
"You have access to everything here, including the computer."
Percy grinned like the child she was.
"Come on, come on, we have to spar," she urged, pulling Bruce to the training mats.
They both got into their stances.
"Ready to get your ass kicked," she smirked at him.
"I'm the goddamn Batman," he retorted before they lunged at each other.
AN. AGAIN, IM SO SORRY. I hope this was good. Next, a short time skip and then Percy's superhero origin story!!

Please catch me, because if you don't, I'll shatter. I can't grab on anymore, I can't keep fighting. It's going to swallow me up. My name is Alyssa Gray, and by the time you finish reading this, I'll be dead. ________________________________ A few warnings and things to note: -I've put up the tramatising content tag due to a lot of mentions on death, dying, illness, and a mother who tends to be rather cruel. I know that I take a perspective that many will strongly disagree with, and I'm okay with that. Just be warned that this isn't lighthearted stuff. This is real, and death is real, and this part streaches beyond the fiction into reality. -I'm going to say a minor spoiler, but I don't want it to take you unaware because it is something to be aware of. At one point, my MC attempts suicide and fails. It's a very violent scene and I will put up the gore tag after writing this, and it's also just really depressing. If this will be triggering, you need to be aware of this before you read it. -This is a christian book. It may go against some of your beliefs. I hope that you can read and comment anyway even if some of it does not sit well with you. Credits for the cover go to the user 'Media in Sanity'. Your help and assitance has meant so much to me, God bless you in your writing and your endevours. A proud member of WriTE. I've promised to finish this fiction and update it at least once a month. My schedule is very irregular, and I'm working on that, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that this book stays out there. I'm not ending it until it's done.
