《Soaring High - Discontinued》Chapter 9

This morning was turning out to be one of Dick's favorites. He woke up, feeling surprisingly well rested, and cooked breakfast for Percy. Needless to say, she was impressed and he guessed that's what led to their current position: Percy's hands up his untucked shirt and his in her hair.
Out of instinct, Dick glanced at the time out of the corner of his eye. Immediately, he yelped and broke away from Percy.
"I'm gonna be late for work!" he exclaimed, guzzling down the rest of his coffee and wincing at the burn. He frantically tucked his shirt back in and tried to fix his appearance.
Percy watched on, amused for a moment before stepping in.
"Hold on, Dick," she laughed.
She combed back his hair with her fingers until it lay semi flat and tightened his tie.
"There. Now go save some lives," she joked, kissing his once on the lips before pulling away, not missing the pout on his face.
She shooed him to the door and said her goodbyes.
Dick walked to work, unable to keep a giddy smile off his face.
When he got to the station, his fellow officers were chattering among themselves.
"What's up, Grayson!" greeted Macklin Arnot, a cop a few years older than Dick, with brown hair, a small goatee, and an eye for attractive women.
"Hey, Rookie." Gannon Malloy clapped him on the shoulder. Malloy was blond with a bad case of resting serious face. He tended to be a little commanding but he and Dick got along just fine.
Jeff Hogan was near the back of the room, making coffee and Dick was glad. Hogan had to be one of the only cops in the department that he didn't get along with. He reminded him of Wally if Wally was an arrogant, flirty piece of shit.

Well, he is... mused Dick.
But Hogan was way worse.
And he was also on his way over to Dick and he internally groaned.
"Richard! How nice to see you finally show up," Hogan said, stressing Dick's name.
"Hogan," Dick greeted.
"So I was out with a lady yesterday..." he began.
"Was she hot?" Arnot immediately questioned and Dick shot him a look.
"Oh, very," Hogan's eyes adopted a faraway look and Dick was disgusted.
"That's nice," Dick said before attempting to walk away.
"Don't you want to see, Dickie?" Hogan waved his phone, "I mean, it might be good for you. When's the last time you've had a girlfriend?"
Dick smirked. "Actually, Hogan..."
But he was cut off by Arnot's wolf whistle.
He was holding Hogan's phone with an impressed look in his eyes.
"Where in the hell did you score a girl like that?" he asked Hogan.
"I guess I just have the charm. You wouldn't understand, would you Grayson?"
This time, even Malloy joined the conversation, peeking at the picture.
"I have to admit, Hogan, that is one sexy piece of-"
"Eh."
Dick realized he was the one that spoke as everyone turned to look at him.
He shrugged his shoulders looking at the picture once more.
The girl had long, straight blonde hair and perfectly blue eyes, but to him, they were nothing compared to Percy's wild black mane and sea-green eyes. She didn't have Percy's impossibly bright smile either.
"She's okay," he said, shrugging again.
The three of the gaped at him. Arnot was the first to recover.
"Okay? Are you blind, Grayson, or gay?"
"Gay makes sense," Hogan snorted.
Dick glared slightly. "I'm not gay, I have a girlfriend."
Hogan failed to hold in his laughter while Malloy and Arnot looked curious and disbelieving.

"Okay, Grayson, sure you have a girlfriend. But are you telling me that yours can beat this?" he said, raising an eyebrow.
Dick was about to retort when he heard a familiar voice.
"Dick?" Percy came in through the door, an object in her hand.
"Percy? What're you doing here?" he asked, kissing her lightly on the lips.
She held up her palm and in it was his police badge.
"I think you forgot this at home, Grayson. I wonder what had you so distracted?" she teased, with a knowing smile and bright eyes.
Dick laughed and pocketed the badge. "Mmm, I think it was a certain someone...Distract me again?" he asked, leaning in again.
Before their lips met, Percy whispered, "Introduce me?"
Dick groaned and she snickered at his misfortune. He turned around to see his three fellow cops gaping at them with wide eyes.
"Guys, this is my girlfriend, Percy," he stressed, wrapping an arm around her.
Hogan was the first to break out of his stupor.
"Damn, how much did rich boy pay you to be here?"
Percy choked, "Excuse me?"
"I mean, seriously, where did you drop down from, heaven?"
Percy smothered a laugh and whispered to Dick, "Actually, I rode the elevator out of hell."
Dick, who was busy glaring at Hogan as hard as he could without going into the Bat-glare broke out of it to snicker at Percy's joke.
Arnot sped over to Percy - Just like Wally, Dick thought - and pressed a kiss to the back of her hand.
"Why hello there, my lady. You have the most stunning eyes," he flirted.
"Uh huh," Percy replied, wiping her hand on her jeans like it was Mrs. O'Leary's slobber.
Arnot looked extremely disappointed.
Malloy, the only one with the slightest bit of sense, came over to introduce himself.
"Good to see you, Percy. I'm Gannon Malloy. I didn't know that rookie here had a girlfriend," she said, grasping her hand.
"Nice to meet you too, Gannon," she replied, returning the gesture.
Dick was scowling to side and Percy realized. As soon as the others turned away for the slightest second, she pressed a discreet kiss to his cheek.
Hogan decided to try again, saddling up to her. "You wanna come hang with me, baby. I can show you the world," he said in a voice he thought was seductive, a hand going to her ass.
Before Dick could kill the man, Percy was quick to stop it, grabbing it and twisting it until she heard a satisfying crack.
"Don't touch me," she growled and he shrunk backwards when she dropped the hand.
Arnot laughed, delighted. "Finally!"
Percy sent him a warning glare too and he got the message.
"Relax, Dick," she whispered to him, his fists clenched, "I can handle myself. Besides, don't tell me you didn't enjoy watching that."
Dick let out a breath and offered a smile, "You're right, that was pretty dam fun to watch."
Percy smirked back and leaned in. Dick could count her lashes and feel her breath. At the last second,
"I'll see you tonight."
She turned and walked out the door, hips swaying slightly on purpose.
Dick mentally groaned as he turned around to his coworkers.
"You lucky bastard," Arnot stated and Malloy made a noise of agreement before the two went to go work on a case.
Hogan glared darkly at Dick but he just raised an eyebrow in return. After the annoying cop stalked away, Dick's shoulders sagged.
This day could not be over fast enough.

8 91Greys II - Ghosts
There he stood, dark eyes, dark hair, beautiful in the most devastating of ways. It scared me how little he had changed, his hair was longer and black, his frame thinner, like he hadn't eaten since I last saw him. His eyes were different, lacking something they had always held before, lacking anything really, and yet he was the same. He looked weak, but I knew he wasn't. "Hi, angel."His voice was just as dead as his eyes. It sent a shiver up my spine. That was the reason I felt sick, that was the reason he seemed different. He was dead, and as much as I wanted to hate him, I was sad he was empty, sad he wasn't the same man anymore."Hello, Gabriel."My voice came out softer than I would have liked, the words burning my tongue. But it didn't matter, I got the desired effect even if the volume wasn't there. He flinched, his eyes widening, his eyebrows twitching up and together, his jaw setting for just a moment. But then it was gone and he looked away, death settling back in his eyes, in the lines of his face.» ✦ «#2 in Angel Romance#3 in Demonology#11 in Thriller#Mature, 18+ for all the reasons. Not a YA novel (again).**Due to disturbing themes, violence, depression, language and literally everything else, this is not for the kids. Ghosts is darker than Intentions.
