Pov y/n

I groan and push the covers away from me, my body already feeling warm enough.

After a quick look at the clock, I sigh, it's 8 am and already really warm.

I don't know how warm it is outside but it is definitely too warm in my apartment.

My phone tells me today it will be 36°C and I groan again, that's way too hot for my taste. How am I supposed to spend a day in that heat?

I can't spend the whole day in my apartment, it'll heat up even more and I will suffocate in here.

Okay, that might be a little exaggerated but still, it's not the best place.

And the parks will be full on a sunny Saturday and probably also too hot.

The pool will be more than full and I don't need to share my personal space with sweaty strangers.

The thought of cooling water is nice though but where else could I go?

Suddenly I remember that Scarlett has a pool and invited me to come over when I want to.

I switch to my messenger and text her. Since it's kinda early, I don't expect her to answer quickly and am surprised when it takes no longer than five minutes for her to reply.

Y/n: Hey, I wanted to ask if it's okay if I come around today? It's really hot and you have a pool XD

 Scarlett: Yes, of course! We would love for you to come and hang out. You might have to share the pool with me and Rose though. ;D

Y/n: That won't be a problem. I'm looking forward to coming over today. Anything I can bring with me? Ice cream, water guns etc.?

 Scarlett: Uhh, yes! Ice cream would be great. Bring whatever flavor you like and if you're wondering, I love chocolate and Rose loves Strawberry. :D

Y/n: Alright, noted. XD Water guns? Or do you not want Rose to play with those, which would also be totally okay. :)

Scarlett: No, you can bring some. We don't have any though because whenever Rose had a water gun fight with her friends, they brought them.

 Y/n: Okay, I will pack everything then. When can I come?

Scarlett: Rose is not up yet and we have to eat breakfast first and run some errands, so 1 pm?

 Y/n: Sounds great! See you then <3

Scarlett: See you then <3

I smile at my phone like an idiot at the heart she just sent me, way too happy over the little emoji. But I don't care, I am allowed to be happy over that.

After a few more minutes of laying in bed, I get up and make my way down to the kitchen to make myself breakfast, noticing that I have to buy some groceries as well.

While I eat, I write a list with everything I need and add chocolate and strawberry ice cream onto it. I like both flavors and am happy with them.

I also add the water guns since I don't have any but I will buy some, I'm sure it'll be fun running around with Rose and Scarlett.

Since I worked so much those past few weeks, I can allow myself to buy them and still have enough saved to take Scarlett on a nice date.

After I am all set for the day, I grab my bags and make my way to the store. It's surprisingly empty, probably because most people don't want to do a lot today, which I totally understand. Even though it is still morning, the heat is already present and the thought that it will get even hotter, makes me sigh internally.

The store has quite a collection of water guns and I am tempted to buy the big ones but they are freaking expensive and too big for Rose to hold properly.

Eventually I pick three, they are all the same but in different colors. They are not too big but hold a good amount of water so we don't have to fill them up every few seconds.

My last stop is the ice cream section and I pick out three tubs, strawberry, chocolate and y/f/i (your favorite ice cream). Happy with my pick, I go to pay for everything and carry the bags back home where I put the ice cream in the freezer first of all.

After everything is packed away, I look at the clock to see that I have a little bit of time left before I need to get ready. I decide to spend it cleaning my bathroom since I have to do that at some point.

Just as I'm done, my phone buzzes and I pick it up to see that Scarlett texted me.

Scarlett: I was so free to order an uber for you, so you don't have to take the subway in this heat ;)

After that she sent me a screenshot of the needed information and I smile and send her a thanks.

Picking a bathing suit takes me a little way. I prefer bathing suits over bikinis because I just feel more comfortable in them.

A dark blue one makes the final cut and I change into it before putting on shorts and a top over it. I pack a set of underwear to change later on and towels to dry myself. Not that the sun wouldn't do that within a few minutes but my hair will take a little longer. The water guns follow and lastly I grab a little cooling bag to transport the ice cream without it melting.

Just in time, I step outside my apartment to see the uber arriving. I get in and since he already knows where to go, I lean back and watch the city fly by. The uber is faster than the subway and luckily has air conditioning, which I really much appreciate because I don't want to arrive all sweaty.

We come to a stop in front of Scarlett's house and as I'm about to pay the driver, he shakes his head.

"I already got paid beforehand. Have a nice day." He says with a smile. I return it and get out of the car, a little smile on my face because of the fact that Scarlett already paid for me.

It doesn't take long until I'm buzzed in and I already see Scar standing in the doorframe, smiling at me. She looks as gorgeous as ever, wearing a loose summer dress, that sways around her knees when she moves. Her hair is tied up into a messy bun, due to the warm weather today.

"What a surprise to see you here." She jokes before embracing me as a greeting. I sink a little into her hug and chuckle at her words.

"I didn't quite had a chance, there was a paid uber who picked me up and just brought me here." I joke back and her eyes sparkle with delight as she laughs.

"Thank you for paying, by the way." I say genuinely and she gives me a sweet smile before eying my bags.

"You're welcome. I hope you have something in there that'll make it worth it?" She asks, playing innocent and my heart flutters at her cuteness.

"Of course I do." I answer and hold up the cooling back with the ice cream.

Her eyes grow big and so does her smile before she takes the bag and takes of towards the kitchen. I laugh and get out of my shoes before entering the house.

Just as I reach the living room, Rose bolts into it from the garden and drop my bag quickly to catch her.

"Y/n!" She squeals and hugs me as I pick her up and spin us around.

"Hey, sweetie." I say and stop spinning. She warps her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist, beaming at me. My arms rest under her bum to keep her up.

"Are you ready to play in the pool with me?" She asks and I smile at her cuteness and nod.

"Of course I am, little dolphin. And it seems like you are ready too." I observe and tickle her sides a little.

She's wearing a yellow bathing suit with white dots on it. Her giggles fill the room and she squirms a little in my arms. I stop and go to hold her securely again.

"Where is yours?" She asks and looks to my bag. I point to the strap of my bathing suit that it showing under my top and she hums before grinning at me.

"Are you in disguise, like Mommy?" She asks and I chuckle at her choice of words but nod.

"Yes, I am. But I will get out of it since I'm now here. Is that alright with you?" I ask.

Rose nods and I sway us around a little, making her giggle before I place her down. She bolts off into the backyard again, Scarlett calling after her to be careful.

I turn to look at Scarlett who leans against the counter, her eyes on the backyard before looking back at me.

"You can put your clothes down on the couch if you like." She offers and I smile at her in thanks before pulling off my top and shorts.

I place both pieces of clothing onto the couch, along with my bag and when I turn around, I catch Scarlett staring at me. I bite my lip to hide a smirk.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." I say and her eyes dart up to mine, a slight blush appearing on her cheeks.

"I might do that." She shoots back and I raise an eyebrow, the smirk now definitely on my lips.

"So, you like what you see?" I ask and she starts slowly walking closer to me, my heart beat speeding up a bit as I watch her.

"Mhm, very much." She agrees and her eyes travel down my body, lingering on certain areas longer.

When she arrives a few steps away from me, she looks outside and I follow her eyes, seeing Rose playing with some garden toys, completely occupied and with her back to us.

Scarlett's soft fingers move my chin back to look at her and from this distance I can see that they have slightly darkened.

I swallow a little, my body starting to heat up from the inside as she closes the gap between our bodies, her hands resting on my sides now, sending sparks from there all over my body.

After another quick glance, she closes the gap between our lips as well and I sigh when I feel her soft lips on mine. She smiles into the kiss, the sigh not going unnoticed by her.

I wrap my arms around her neck, licking over her bottom lip and she opens her lips to let me in. Our tongues dance together in a slow rhythm before we part to get some air.

"I missed this." She admits in a low voice, slowly bringing more distance between us but keeping her hands on my sides.

"Me too." I agree, letting my hands fall to the side.

Her eyes sparkle and she tilts her head a little as her hands start to slowly graze up and down my sides, leaving me with a tingling sensation.

"You look hot in a bathing suit." She whispers and I swallow, my throat suddenly feeling very dry at her words and my cheeks blushing. I don't know what to respond to that, my mind suddenly blank.

She smirks a little before leaning in to give me another quick peck.

"Maybe I should invite you more often to join us in the pool." She smirks and I start to gain my thoughts back.

"Maybe you should." I smirk. "Will I get to see you in your swimming clothes as well then?"

Her eyes darken a little more and she bites her lip.

"That can be arranged." She replies and steps back to pull off her dress over her head, slowly exposing more and more of her skin.

My jaw almost drops at the sight of that and it takes me a lot of will power to keep calm right now.

She is beautiful and I could admire her forever without getting bored. The dark red bikini looks amazing on her and I can't stop admiring her, respectfully of course.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." She repeats my tease from before and now I'm the one blushing again.

"I might do that." I repeat her reply from before and meet her eyes.

"I guess we're even then." She smirks and I nod.

"We are." I agree and bite my lip a little before swallowing and looking outside.

When did it got so hot in here?

Scarlett giggles a little at my reaction and gestures for me to step outside, which I do. Maybe some fresh air will help me to regain appropriate thoughts.

We walk towards the pool and to the sun loungers next to it. Scarlett grabs a hat and puts it on before laying down in one, her eyes looking over to Rose who is still playing with her toys.

I lay down next to Scarlett, feeling the sun heating up my skin within seconds. Good thing I put sunscreen on before I got here.

We enjoy a few minutes of silence before we hear the tapping of feet and I turn my head to look at Rose running up to us and sitting down at the end of her mom's chair.

"Can I have my floaties so I can go into the water?" She asks and bounces on the chair a little.

"How about you give me a few more minutes, then I'll come with you?" Scarlett offers but Rose seems unhappy with that and pouts.

"But I want to go now, pleaseeee." She makes puppy dog eyes but Scar sighs.

"You know you're not supposed to be alone in the pool." She reminds her daughter and Rose crosses her arms and looks at me.

"Y/n is an adult, can she go in the pool with me?" Rose asks and looks to her mother in question.

"Ask her, I can't decide for her." Scarlett says softly.

"Y/n, would you come into the pool with me?" Rose asks, doing her puppy dog eyes on me now. I smile a little and nod.

"Sure, I need to cool of a little as well." I agree and Rose cheers, hurrying up to get her floaties.

Scarlett gives me a thankful look and I smile at her in return. I wanted to go into the water anyways, so I might as well go with Rose.

The girl comes back to us and hands both her mom an me a floaty and we start blowing them up before helping Rose to put them on. She looks adorable in her little bathing suit and with the floaties around her arms.

I get up when she walks towards the pool and stops for me to catch up. The water is a really nice contrast to the hot weather and when my feet touch the ground, I start to cool down a little.

Rose follows me but as soon as she reaches the step where she starts to float in the water, she reaches out her hands for me and I take them, giving her a halt while she pushes herself off the stairs.

She looks adorably happy and kicks her feet in the water, enjoying the cold wet as well. I pull her a little closer to have a better hold on her and start to swirl her around the water, making her giggle. When I start to get a little dizzy, I stop but smile at the still giggling Rose.

"Do it again, do it again!" She laughs and I chuckle, starting to spin us the other way around.

She joins my laughter and we move through the pool but I always stay in the areas where I can still stand.

We come to a halt yet again when the world around me starts to spin and I place my arms under Rose's armpits to keep her up since we are now in a deeper area of the pool.

"Can I jump into the pool?" She asks me with big eyes and I brush some hair out of her face.

"Does your Mom allow it?" I ask back, not wanting to go against any of Scarlett's rules. Rose nods.

"Yes, as long as there is someone watching me and pulling me up after I dunked under." She explains and I nod in understanding.

I walk us over to the edge of the pool, lifting her out of the water, so she sits on it. Rose gets up onto her feet and I step back a little so she has space to jump into the water.

It splashes when she jumps into the water and I stretch my arms out but before I can pull her up, she is already up and takes my arm to help keeping her up. Now her hair is all wet and she beams at me.

"That was fun!" She exclaims and I chuckle at her excitement and pull her a little away from the edge for my next plan.

I carefully grab her and lift her a little out of the water, she grins at me and squirms around a little, waiting for me to drop her. And I do so, catching her gently before her head dunks under water. She squeals and laughs.

"Again, again!" She demands and I follow, dropping her into the water over and over again.

Rose laughs the whole time, having the time of her life. When I notice movement next to me, I see Scarlett joining us and give her a smile. Her face is already lightened up and she looks extremely happy.

"Did you see that, Mommy?" Rose asks excited and reaches out for her mother. I move her through the water until Scarlett gets a hold of her.

"I did, sweetheart. It looked like a lot of fun." She says enthusiastically.

"It was!" Rose confirms and turns her head to look at me.

Before she can even ask, I nod and she claps her hands, reaching out to me.

I take her and step a little away from Scarlett, not wanting them to collide.

Once again I drop Rose into the water, making her squeal. Scarlett watches us with a huge smile, her eyes sparkling as always when she looks at Rose, holding so much love for her daughter.

I come up with another idea and make eye contact with Scarlett.

"Can you catch her?" I ask and pull her out of her gaze. She nods, stretching out her arms to show me she is ready.

"I will throw you over to you Mom, is that okay, Rose?" I check with the girl in my arms who nods frantically.

I change my hold of her and turn her so she sees her mom and step a little further away. This time I lift Rose even higher before carefully throwing her to her mother. Scarlett catches her but gets water splashed into her face, making both of them laugh.

"Again, please!" Rose begs and Scarlett looks at me and I nod.

We spend a good amount of time throwing Rose from one to another before she gets to heavy and I swim back to Scarlett with Rose in my arms.

"That was so much fun!" Rose tells us with a toothy grin on her face.

"I'm glad you liked it, Rosie." Scarlett says and brushes some of her daughters hair out of her face.

"But I think it's time to get out of the pool now, your lips turning a little blue and we don't want you to get sick." She explains and even though Rose pouts, she agrees and I carry her back to the stairs from where she gets out by herself.

I get out as well and we walk back to our lounge chairs. Rose flops down on one, seeming a little tired out from all the goofing around. Scarlett hands her a towel and I grab mine that I brought outside with me. Rose wraps herself in the towel while Scarlett and I both dry us off before Scar goes to help Rose to get dry.

We let our hair as it is, it'll dry soon anyway. Rose lays down in the chair, letting the exhaustion from playing wash over her.

"I know you're tired, Rosie and you can take a nap in a bit but how about I make you a sandwich and we apply some sun lotion, so you don't get a sunburn during your nap?" Scar suggests, earning a nod from Rose.

"Which kind of sandwiches would you like?" She asks. Rose thinks for a second.

"Peanut butter and jelly please." She decides and Scar's attention shifts to me.

"Just cheese is fine." I answer and she nods.

"I can take care of the sun lotion, if that would be okay with you?" I offer and see a thankful expression on Scar's face before she nods and points to it.

"Thank you." She says and I nod in return before she heads inside. I turn around to look at Rose.

"Let's apply some lotion and then you can take a nap soon." I say in a soft voice. Rose crosses her arms and pouts.

"I don't want to, it's annoying." She says. I grab the bottle and go to sit on the same chair as she does.

"But it is important, so you don't get a sunburn." I try to explain but Rose shakes her head, a little fuzzy due to the exhaustion. My eyes stay on her as I try to think of a way to make her agree to this.

"How about we draw something on your body?" I ask, grabbing Rose's attention.

"How? With pens?" She asks and uncrosses her arms. I shake my head.

"No, with the sunscreen. We draw on your body with it, then it's not as annoying anymore, right?" I ask, hoping she will agree because I don't have any other idea. Rose thinks about the offer before she nods, not totally happy with it but not repelling it either.

"Is it okay if I draw on your body, too?" I ask, making sure she knows it's okay to say 'no' and voice a boundary.
