That voice.
Jimin could recognize that voice even from the other side of the world.
"Seokjin hyung-"
Frozen on his spot, Jimin watched his hyung tickle a young child with flushed red cheeks, making the kid giggle uncontrollably before hiding his face onto his broad shoulders. Watching the kid giggle along with his hyung laughing, Jimin scrunched his eyebrows.
Since when did Seokjin hyung have a child?
Jimin was still hidden as he stood under the dim lamp post with a broken bulb, and he contemplated whether to call him or not, since it had been a really long time since they last met when a petite woman exited the store, causing the door bell to ring.
"Slowpoke." Seokjin teased the woman next to him, and pulled her hoodie over to cover her face, making her drop her bags of groceries onto the ground.
"Yah!" She exclaimed while pushing back her hoodie.
Jimin's heart tugged weirdly at her voice.
"How dare you 'yah!' me, you woman." Seokjin ruffled her hair on purpose, causing the baby to giggle at the sight. "I'm older than you!"
"Ugh, you're so annoying." She whacked his arm lightly before stretching her arms at him. "Give me back my baby."
Jimin's head snapped upwards as he tried to take a good look at her face.
That voice!
"Why should I?" Seokjin hugged the child even tighter, and the little boy giggled again. "See? Even Hyunnie agrees."
"Hyunnie, don't you want eomma to carry you?"
That's it. I'm going there.
Seokjin was about to retort when he noticed a figure walk towards them with hastened footsteps. Feeling protective, he was quick to push the girl next to him to hide behind him.
"Hi hyung." Jimin greeted as he finally revealed his face, surprising Seokjin to see his old friend here.
"Jimin!" Seokjin coughed nervously, and felt the girl behind him tense up. "How are you? It's been a really long time since we last met."
The baby in Seokjin's arms blinked his big doe eyes at the presence of a new stranger. Sucking his thumb, he rested his fluffy cheeks onto Seokjin's chest and stared at Jimin who was also staring back at him.
"I didn't know you're married." Jimin forced a smile.
"I'm not married, Jimin." Seokjin corrected him, and exhaled a puff of air when Jimin furrowed his eyebrows at him.

"Then whose child is this?" Jimin felt his heartbeat increase as it pumped harder and stronger, hitting his ribcage as a familiar scent hit his nostrils when Seokjin pulled the girl behind him to stand next to him.
"He's mine."
Pushing her hoodie away, Jimin's eyes widened when he saw her glancing back at him. Her round eyes shimmered as tears started to form, but she wasn't going to cry.
She was strong enough to not cry anymore.
"H-haneul?" Jimin took a step forward, still not able to believe that she was standing right in front of him.
One year.
It had been a year since he last saw her, and he had to admit that she became more beautiful than she was before, with her long hair now cut short, even though her facial features still remained the same.
"Hi?" Haneul awkwardly raised her hand, and the next thing she knew was that Jimin had engulfed her into an embrace, his warm tears trickling down his cheeks as he inhaled the scent that he had missed so much.
"Why did you leave me?! Did you know how sad I was? I barely ate anything thinking that you wouldn't return back to me." Jimin sniffed as he continued to cried, and Haneul glanced up at Seokjin for an emergency S.O.S.
"Okay buddy. Let Haneul breathe." Seokjin spoke, and Haneul thanked him when Jimin released her from the hug. "I'll be waiting in the car with Hyunnie. It's too cold here."
Tugging her hands, Jimin pulled Haneul towards him and leaned down before planting a kiss on her lips. His tears were still streaming down like two broken taps, and he broke off the kiss when Haneul pushed him away.
"Why are you here?" Haneul asked coldly.
"I'm supposed to be in the restaurant over there, having a dinner with another country's royal family." Jimin explained, trying not to look hurt that Haneul had just rejected his kiss. "What about you?"
"Came here to get groceries with Seokjin oppa." Haneul noticed how Jimin had tensed up. "And no, we are just friends, Your Highness."
"I don't think so. I bet the child is yours and his." Jimin scowled.
"Don't be an idiot, Your Highness." Haneul rolled her eyes. "Hyunnie is mine, only mine."

"Then who's the father?" Jimin tested her, and she shot him a look saying 'are you being serious right now?'.
"He's your child, Your Highness." Haneul exasperated.
"Of course he's mine- wait what?! I have a son?!" Jimin shrieked in shock, and Haneul wanted nothing else but to smack his head for being an idiot.
"Yes, he's partly yours. But he's still mine." Haneul glared at his grinning face. "What are you thinking, Your Highness?"
"Firstly, stop calling me Your Highness, it's annoying." Jimin stated. "And secondly, how could you try to hide the fact that I have a child! He's a royalty, Haneul!"
"What am I supposed to do then when I found out about the pregnancy after divorcing you?! I couldn't possibly tell you about it when I was doing my best avoiding you!"
Jimin scoffed. "Why did you even agree to divorce me without my permission? And oh, also the fact that you received the goddamn divorce paper from Youngji and not telling me! Why did you have to bear everything by yourself?! What was I even to you?"
"It was for the country's sake, and your sake, Jimin." Haneul was crying now. "Everything I did was because of you."
"You could have discussed with me before deciding matters yourself, Haneul. Divorcing is a serious matter. Pregnancy is also a serious matter. Why couldn't you just let me be part of your life?" Jimin wiped away his tears. "I even missed out our son's first times."
Looking away, Haneul felt guilty for whatever she had done but if she had told him about the problems, she was one hundred percent sure that Jimin wouldn't let her go.
"I still love you, you know?" Jimin cracked a smile as a new stream of tear flowed down his left cheek.
"You need to move on, Jimin."
"Why should I? We can always get married again." Jimin pleaded while holding her hands that were as cold as ice. Intertwining them, he stuffed both of their hands into his coat's pockets. "Your hands are so cold."
"The country needs you to marry another rich country or family to make sure that the economy is stable, chim." Haneul tucked out her left hand from his grasp to gently caress his flushed red cheeks. Chuckling, she wiped away his tears with her thumb.
Hyunnie resembles you way too much. His cheeks are the same as yours, and he turns red as easily as you too.
"But the economy is back on track now, Haneul. I've worked hard day and night to prove to my parents that there isn't a need for me to marry another rich heiress for the sake of the country." Jimin fluttered his eyes close, and placed a feather-like peck on her forehead. "Just come back to me, and I will treat you and Hyunnie like the way I should."
"The world doesn't know the existence of Hyunnie, and I plan to let it stay the same way, Jimin. The palace rules are just way too much, and I hate to say this but, I actually felt freedom the moment I exited the palace grounds." Haneul confessed with her eyes gazing sincerely at his.
Jimin slowly nodded his head. "Hyunnie is still the next heir for the throne, you do realize that right?"
"Still-"
"Haneul, I need to let father and mother know about the existence of our son. It's a pretty important matter." Jimin spoke sternly, and Haneul pursed her lips, cursing at Seokjin who had decided to visit this grocery store when there was another one which was much nearer to their house.
"I don't want to be separated from Hyunnie." Haneul frowned.
Jimin was about to open his mouth to ask her to come back to him, but he knew that she needed this freedom, so he chose to swallow those words back. Grunting, he huffed out a mouthful of air before lifting his head up to look at her face.
They had stopped crying now, and there was a silent agreement between them, both agreeing that they had to behave like adults now.
Fishing out his phone, Jimin dialled a number before placing the phone next to his ear. It had rung for three times before the receiver had finally picked up the phone.
"Park Jimin! Where did you go-"
"Father, I need to talk to you and mother." Jimin cut his father's sentence off, and judging by the seriousness of his tone, his father knew that his son really needed to talk.
"Okay. We will meet at the palace then."

The Designated: Out of Control
It happened quicker than anyone would have imagined. Multiple hurricanes were one thing. People had dealt with that in the past. But, like kids playing dominoes, one thing crashed into another. Areas affected by hurricanes needed resources all along the Gulf and East Coasts drew rescuers and resources away from other parts of the country. When wildfires lit up the Pacific coast and mid-west, those areas were already understaffed. Driven by hurricanes in the Pacific basin, uncontrolled wildfires burned through towns, destroying everything in their paths. Across the Pacific, Asia didn't escape. From the Philippines, across China, into Indochina, and Bangladesh and India. Typhoons and cyclones pounded the coasts and far inland. Widespread flooding forced millions from their homes and across international borders. Mexico was hit hard and thousands died in mudslides as Katia slammed into their East Coast. The refugees fled north and west. Rumours started that hundreds of thousands were headed for the US border. Instead of running out of steam in the southern US, several hurricanes tore up the eastern seaboard, devastating cities and renewing their strength before veering east across the Atlantic. Maria and Ophelia veered east and slammed into Europe, reaching as far as the Netherlands and Russia before finally dissipating. After that, too many weather stations were offline to provide any form of co-ordinated information or warnings. Wildfires in Portugal burned ahead of the storms, fanned by hurricane winds. They sparked wildfires leapfrogging across Europe, beyond any one country's ability to cope. Already uneasy from multiple terrorist attacks over the summer, anti-refugee groups seized the opportunity to stage protests across Europe. Some turned violent as they clashed with police forces. Several governments declared martial law to quell the rioting and enforce evacuations along the path of the storms. Rumour and speculation overwhelmed facts. Unrest spilled over into widespread violence. Then sickness broke out in the displaced populations. Within a matter of a dozen weeks, tens of millions died. In the coming winter months hundreds more would follow. The Designated Project was activated.
