《An Unknown Bond [Zeldris x OC]》Ch. 5 - Istar and the Ten Commandments

"Sir Meliodas?" Arthur asks surprised when we arrive in Istar, right in the middle of Meliodas' group. "Lady Elizabeth and..." he stops when he sees all the other people around us. "What are you all doing here?"
"Well then, well then, well then. See you again so quickly" Meliodas smirks at Arthur. "Glad to see you found them so quickly" he says to me then.
"You can always count on me" I say and take a look around Meliodas' friends. They all look at us in confusion and I know that Meliodas hasn't told them the truth yet. Also, two of them are missing. "Meliodas, where are Ban and Diane?"
"Long story" Meliodas answers and rubs the back of his head. "But they will be back soon."
I grit my teeth but say nothing as I glare at him angrily. How could he let his friends leave in such a time of danger?!
"What does want here?" I hear King shout in anger as he looks at Hendrickson, who stands behind us, and forms his Chastiefol into a weapon that stops right before Hendrickson.
"King no!" I shout as I walk closer to Hendrickson to defeat him if neccessary.
"Please" Hendrickson says as he kneels down in front of everyone. "I know I can't be forgiven for my sins but I wasn't myself. I'm here to make things right again." He looks up at King and then stands up slowly. "You can punish me after we've ended this war."
"What war?" King glares at him.
"Meliodas..." I plead him sternly and look at him concerned. "It's about time."
"You haven't told them yet?" Jenna shouts at Meliodas' stupity. "Yet you brought them all here with you. What kind of leader are you?"
"Thank you, Jenna" I chuckle as I sit down on a fallen tree trunk, ready to watch the scenery.
"Sir Meliodas, what is this Lady Jenna talks about?" Elizabeth asks with concern in her eyes. Meliodas looks at me and I nod at him encouraging.
"Okay, okay" Meliodas says as he goes to sit down next to me. "You sure have heard about the Holy War happening 3.000 years ago."
"Why yes. But I thought those were just rumors" Elizabeth says. Meliodas tries to not look up at her as pain fills his eyes as he remembers how he lost his beloved one for the very first time and the curse that got laid upon them. It seems like 3.000 years of pain and suffering overwhelm him and I see him start to tremble.
"By now we should know they're not just rumors" says Hendrickson, referring to his attempt to free the demons from the 3,000-year-old seal. "As you know, it was mine, no, the goal of the demon within me, to break the divine seal."
Hendricksons words help Meliodas to catch himself again and he continues Hendricksons story. "It seems the seal got broken by now, which means that they're back."
"It was Dreyfus" Hendrickson interrupts Meliodas and begins to tell us the story about how a demon took possession of the bodies and spirits of Dreyfus and Hendrickson so many years ago.
"So this means you never really wanted to do what you did" I say and already regret not being able to keep my mouth shut.
"You are right, Lady Yami. I tried to free myself but the power of the demon was too strong."

"Fraudrin" Meliodas mutters and I look at him in shock.
"You mean..." I mumble and Meliodas nods.
"Fraudrin?" Hendrickson asks surprised. The name seems to sound familiar to him.
Meliodas nods. "There's no doubt" he says as he explains that Fraudrin belongs to the Ten Commandments and what probably happened to him 3.000 years ago.
"Those are a lot of informations" Gilthunder sighs and lets himself drop on the floor.
"There's more to come" I say. "All demons are led by the Ten Commandments. They are an extremly powerful group of ten elite warriors and actually the most powerful. The Demon King gave each one of them a commandment as a unique power, which delivers a unique curse to whomever breaks a rule specific to each member. This power is absolute, it cannot be opposed even by its wielder."
4.000 years ago
"Ten Commandments, huh?" I replied and watched Meliodas sit on the bed next to me. His demonic appearance hadn't disappeared at all like it usually did around me. But on the contrary, his demon mark had changed. It was no longer on his right eye but now on the middle of his forehead. It was darker than the last one and his eyes were more of a black than dark purple and his body seemed to have become more muscular as well. I could see the pride in his eyes about his new title but I couldn't be happy for him. The Meliodas I knew was kind and funny, sometimes even really childish but the Meliodas that sat in front of me was nothing like him.
4.000 years ago
Zeldris and I were on our way back to our rooms, after he had catched me falling, when Meliodas tramped towards us. "What did you just do!!" he shouted angrily at Zeldris, way before he reached us.
"Meliodas..." I muttered his name, surprised to see him so furious. His demon mark light up and his dark aura was nothing but scaring. Zeldris just growled in annoyance and left his position next to me as he walked towards his older brother.
"IF YOU EVER DROP HER AGAIN-" Meliodas shouted at his brother and it looked like he was about to fight his younger brother but I interrupted him.
"How do you know? It just happened."
Meliodas draw his attention away from his brother and glared at me angrily. "I know everything" he said before turning to Zeldris again but I jumped right in the way of them.
"Meliodas, stop!" I growled and looked at my friend angrily. "He just wanted to help."
"He did not want to help! He tried to kill you!" he said to me loudly and glared into the dark eyes of his younger brother. "If you're ever going to hurt her again-"
"Hurt her?" Zeldris asked surprised. "Watch what you say!" he hissed.
Did Meliodas really think that Zeldris wanted to hurt me on purpose? I looked at the younger boy and tried to understand Meliodas' thoughts. I knew he wasn't a fan of me whilst I loved him so dearly but he wouldn't just try to kill me. Would he?
I pushed away that thought quickly. He did catch me.
I grabbed onto Zeldris' right arm and pushed myself between the brothers again. "Zeldris would never hurt me, Meliodas! Now, calm down!" I growled while holding on Zeldris' arm protectively. "I trust him."
"You do?" Zeldris asked surprised and Meliodas dark aura vanished the moment my words sank in. His eyes changed to the well known green and he jumped towards me, wrapping his arms around my neck, whilst I still held onto Zeldris, as tears formed in the corner of his eyes. "I don't want to loose you, Yami. I promised to watch out for you."

I patted Meliodas on his back with my free hand to comfort him. "You won't loose me, Meliodas" I said and felt Zeldris free himself from my grip in the same moment. I looked at him apologizing and he just shrugged like he didn't care at all. He took a few steps back and I thought he would just leave as always but he kept standing near Meliodas and I, constantly watching us. I used my now free arms to pull Meliodas closer to me as I comforted him. "Now, who's gonna cry?" I said. "I'm fine, Meliodas. I'll always be" I said and wiped away his tears and looked into his green eyes sternly. "I promise you."
"How do you know about this?" Howzer asks me after what I have told them about the Ten Commandments.
I let my gaze wander over to Meliodas whilst thinking about what to tell them when King says madly: "You're one of them, right? Just like the captain you belong to the demon race."
Everyone looks at me in shock and when I don't answer instantly, King screams: "Answer me!" and once again turns his Chastiefol into a weapon that faces me this time.
"Stop this!" Meliodas raises his voice and jumps in front of me protectively, his face just inches away from Chastiefol. "It's not the time to get off on each other" he continues, his gaze looking directly at King, who returnes his gaze angrily.
"What kind of children are you?" Jenna says angrily as she's getting tired of the fighting.
"Lady Jenna" I say apologizing and step in the way of Jenna, Meliodas and King. "I'm fine, Meliodas. I'll always will be" I say whilst placing my hand on his shoulder to pull him back some. Then, I turn to face King. "You're right. I belong to the demon race and so does Meliodas. But don't pretend you didn't know." I then turn to face everyone else. "You all did already know or at least guessed that or am I wrong? You have seen his demon marks and powers before but you were too scared to admit it."
"Yami... " I hear Meliodas whisper as he tries to stop me but he already knows that there's no way out of it this time.
"So tell me, King. What are you scared of? What threat do you see in us?"
I give King a moment to answer me but he doesn't, so I continue. "I'm only half a demon though. I'm not telling you the disgusting details but my Mom was fully human so you can guess where I got my demon powers from. But I haven't killed any kind soul in the past 5.000 years. So please, King, tell me where am I a threat to you? Is it the demon blood flowing through my veins? We surely don't know each other and I don't care if you believe or trust me as long as you keep fighting with us against the Commandments because there is another war coming our way. And those demons are way stronger than Hendrickson was." I turn to Hendrickson and give him an apologizing look. "No offense."
I turn to face King again. "If you're really doubting the Captain, the one guy that stuck with you for all those years and just fought against the demonic power in Hendrickson, then I'm doubting your power of judgement"
No one says a word and the silence is overwhelming. "Meliodas" I hear Elizabeth speak up and am glad that someone is finally breaking the silence. "And Lady Yami... I trust the two of you and my trust in you will never be broken!"
Meliodas had looked to the ground for a few seconds already but finally lifts up his head at Elizabeths words. He begins to smile again and the princess pulls him into his arms. His face is laying right on her boobs and his smile grows even wider. "Now that's a feeling I like" he giggles but I pull him away from her.
"Stop it, you little pervert." My eyes look at King again, who hasn't stopped staring at me and we just stand there and stare at each other. He puts down his hand finally and his Chastiefol disappears.
"Please excuse my curiosity. But even if you are of the demon race, how do you know so much about the holy war?" Gilthunder asks me. "I still don't fully understand."
"Dumbass" Howzer growls and hits the back of Gilthunders head. "She's just told us she's alive for about 5.000 years."
"So that means you were in the Holy War?"
I shouted Meliodas' name perpetually and tried to find him in all this chaos around me.
It was terrible. All I could hear were screams, tears, fightins, explosions.
It was terrible.
I felt so much pain and suffering. Why were we doing this to ourselves? What was the point of all this fighting if it brought nothing but death and suffering? "Meliodas!" I shouted his name again.
"She's a demon!" I heared someone shout. "I have seen her wings!"
"Please!" I said and turned around only to see I was surrounded by other humans. "I don't want to harm anyone! I'm just trying to find a friend."
"Demons don't have any friends!" another man shouted.
"Or feelings!" a third one shouted.
"We need to kill her before she kills us as well!"
"Please, no! I don't want to hurt anybody" I said once again but then, I felt something hard on my head before everything turned black.
When I woke up again, the Holy War had ended, the Ten Commandments were sealed away and the other demons were sent back to their world.
"They sound really powerful" Howzer says. "How are we going to fight them?"
"That's why we're here" Meliodas finally states.
"I locked away the captains powers many years ago" Merlin says. "They were just too powerful and the captain wasn't ready to controll them."
"But now he is?" Arthur asks.
"We will see that" Jenna says and turns to face her sister. Zaneri walks up to Meliodas and looks at him sadly as she's still heartbroken that Meliodas loves no one but Elizabeth.
"Before you can regain your strength, you must first pass an exam" says Zaneri.
"Let's start right away then!" Meliodas says highly motivated.
"Meliodas..." Zaneri says but Jenna shushes her.
"Take the princess with you, Zaneri. She needs to discover her true magical powers as well" Jenna says and Zaneri nods, leaving with Elizabeth and Meliodas into a dark cave.
