《My mother married a Capo》Chapter 16

"Are you out of your mind, boy?" asked Dean with a deep frown on his face. "Alliance with the Kings?"

Alex and Simon had stood in Mark, Alex's father's study. Mark had sat behind his desk. His gray hair had been slicked back neatly and his intense dark gray eyes were fixed on his son. Dean had sat on a sofa in front of the desk, with a lit cigarette in his hand. His face was shocked by Alex's offer.

"The Russians will attack us again if we don't accept to go under their order." reasoned Alex with folded arms. "We won't go under their order for sure, so we need a strong group to protect us and the Kings are the best option. They will need help as well and we, as the biggest gang in the city who has so many others under control, will be the best option for them as well. Together, we can easily defeat Russians. Besides, alliance with King mafia will have more profit than having a feud with them."

The room fell in silence as everyone was waiting for Mark to talk. Alex stared at his father. "Harrison would want the same." he said firmly.

No one but Alex himself noticed that Mark's body become tense by hearing the name. His eyes never left his son's identical ones. "Leave me and my son alone." his deep voice filled the room and Simon and Dean left the room without a word.

"Tell me, Alex," began Mark once they were alone. "What is your true intention of offering a peace treaty with Kings?"

"I told you, It's because ...." Alex was cut off with Mark's raised hand.

"Don't bullshit me, son." said Mark. His voice was calm and collected. "I know you better than anyone. You are more hot-headed than to even think about such a thing because of a fear of Russian's attack. Tell me what's going on in your mind." he said and then leaned forward and laced his fingers on the desk in front of him and his sharp eyes searched Alex's emotionless ones. "Tell me what you have seen in King's property that had intrigued you this much to make you think about a peace treaty."

Alex stared at his father. Sometimes he wondered how his father read minds that easily. There was no point in lying to him. He would get the truth through him or the other ways. He wetted his dried lips and looked away. His fists clenched and unclenched.

"Alison!" he said and Mark smirked and leaned back. So it was a girl that had made his son different in the past few days. He was more to himself and daydreaming every time possible. He had become frustrated more as well like he was searching for an answer but couldn't find one.

"And who is this Alison might be?" asked Mark, deciding to go easy on him. It was not a wise move to pressure a teenager in love, especially his son who was feeling this way for the first time in his life. Alex had women and girls most of the nights much to his mother's displeasure, but they were all flings of the night, nothing more. He would forget most of their names the next morning when he was throwing them out like trash. This girl, Alison, must have been a special one to bring his son to his knees. Alex's mother, Juliet, would be delighted to hear the news for sure.

"Albert King's stepdaughter," answered Alex. "He has remarried last week and his wife has a daughter who attends our school."

"What is so special about her to make the womanizer Alexander West fall for her?" asked Mark.

"I don't know." sighed Alex and ran a hand through his hair and plumped himself on the sofa. "I don't know what is special in her. She might look so ordinary in your eyes. But she was the first one to walk past me like I'm dirt and then avoided me like a plague." he said and Chuckled under his breath. Mark smiled faintly as well. It was so good to see his son like this for once, desperate for a girl he had come to like and hopeful for something good. Alex was always grim and angry. It was hard to see him chuckle or see a face of a normal teenager under his mature and hard facade.

"But this is not all," continued Alex while looking at the point on the coffee table mindlessly. "She is delicate like a petal which you should touch and pick with utmost care to not break or tear, but she can be like a thorn and prickle your finger if necessary. She has this aura of serenity and peace around her that you want to drown yourself in." He then paused and looked up at his dad and his face become serious. "She is the one who has put this condition on my way to put aside my feud with her brothers so we can have a peaceful relationship, but that is not the only reason. The Russians will start a war with the Kings and now she is a great target. I want to protect her with all of my might, even if it means helping the Kings. This alliance will strengthen us as well, dad. Please think about it."

Mark was silent for a moment. "You are right. If Russians have the power to attack almost every gang in the city in one night, then they are so powerful. It's good to have a powerful group by our side and work on defeating Russians together, not alone. But it's not enough reason for me to work with those who caused my son to die." he said and Alex's heart beat faster in anticipation. "But it seems they have brought life for my other son and had caused him for once to decide wisely. Who am I to stand in the way of your love? Your mother will slaughter me for sure if I stop you." said Mark and chuckled. Alex smiled faintly. "We will go to talk with Mason King tomorrow. Inform everyone and also the Kings. But It's all upon you because it was your idea. Your fists should be full if you want to negotiate with Mason King. He might be young, but he is a dangerous man with a mind of a genius who is leading his men more efficiently and better than his own father. You should be ready for the unexpected."

Alex stood up. There was a party going on in his heart. "Yes, sir. I will be." he said and then walked out of the room quickly. Everything was going in his favor.

It was Friday afternoon. Xander and Damien had decided to go to a club to cool off a bit. Xander was sipping from his mug of beer while Susan had sat on his lap like always kissing his jaw and neck lightly which was driving him crazy. He was drunk. Damien had left a few minutes ago with a girl and Xander was sure he had to follow him only to a separate room soon. He take his eyes away from the people on the VIP and glanced at Susan who had stopped kissing him a few seconds ago. Her beautiful silver eyes were focused on nothing in particular and lines of worry were plastered on her face. "Hey!" said Xander softly as he cupped her face in his hand and brought her red lips to meet his, but it seemed she was not herself. "Something is bothering you." said Xander.

"What?" asked Susan with wide eyes. her angelic face was shocked. She then smiled warmly and kissed him again. "Don't worry yourself, babe. I'm fine."

"Tell me what it is, Sus." said Xander firmly. Susan looked away and her brows furrowed. She bit her bottom lip and looked at her hands in her lap uncertainly. Xander turned her face to him again. "If you don't tell me, I can't help you, my little angel."

Susan caressed his jaw. Her eyes were full of worry. "I'm just worried for you and your family, Xander." she said and looked at Xander's eyes.

"And why is that, love?" asked Xander as he rubbed her lower back soothingly. "Have you heard anything that has made you worried?"

Susan looked away again. "I'm being torn inside." she said. "I don't want to interfere in your family's life. It's not my place to tell you this."

"First of all, you are my girlfriend so you have rights in the family as well. I trust you. Your words are mine." said Xander firmly which made Susan smile beautifully and look at him again. "And secondly, if there is something that concerns my family I want you to tell me immediately."

"It's about Alison." said Susan hesitantly and Xander frowned. "That is why I'm hesitant. you know, maybe I heard wrong. Maybe she hasn't bonded with your family yet to say those words. She is new so may..."

"Susan!" said Xander irritated and cut her off. "What have you heard?"

Susan took a long sigh and began. "Two days ago I was in one of the laboratories, taking some things for the class. It was then I heard voices from the corridor and I recognized them as Alison and West. They were so lovey-dovey kissing and stuff and I decided to stay there until they are done. But what they were talking about scared me a bit. West asked Alison to go and live with him but she said that they should keep their relationship hidden still and she should stay at your house and play the role of a good girl for your father for now. Her words, not mine, so forgive me for repeating these dreadful words. She said when she and her mother were done taking enough money from your father, then they will leave them and Alison can go and live with West."

Xander was now shaking with anger. "Babe, please calm down." said Susan and caressed his face lovingly. "I'm sure I have heard her wrong. you know they were busy kissing each other and I was a bit embarrassed so ...."

"Don't, Sus. Just don't." hissed Xander. "I'm sure that bitch was saying the truth to that bastard. I was so confused that how dad suddenly decided to marry her mother only after two fucking months. So it was all their plan."

Susan cupped his cheek and stared at his eyes. "Okay, Xander, calm down." she said firmly. "A wolf can always mask itself with a skin of a lamb. Now luckily you know the truth. Your father won't accept your words if you tell him these things and Alison will deny them easily. So you should keep your eyes open and don't let her fool you with her charms. Also, inform your brothers as well and keep them aware. If you saw one wrong move from her then you will tell your father and threw them out."

Xander stared at her eyes. His hazed and drunk mind immediately accepted her words. "You are an angel you know this?" said Xander and Susan smiled.

"Now, I made you this tense," she said seductively and ran her finger on his chest. "let me help you ease it."

Xander smirked and stood up and put her down. He grabbed her hand and dragged her behind him. So he didn't see her sincere smile turned to a sinister one and her eyes shone with wickedness. The poison had been easily entered his already doubtful mind. Now the always angry and hot-headed Xander will do the rest himself and get her rid of Alison's presence. Susan should only play her innocent role and watch.

*************

Alison had sat in the game room on a couch. James and Jordan had laid on their stomachs in front of her feet, drawing on their piece of paper with their color pencils scattered everywhere around them.

Alison had a piece of paper and pencils as well. Her eyes were focused on the paper in her hand but her mind was far from there as she turned the pencil in her hand mindlessly. She wanted to cry. She had not seen Alex at school that day as well. She didn't know whether he was avoiding her or not. Maybe he was sick badly. The thought was making her more worried for him. She had cursed herself for not even taking his number. Then again, she had not seen his friend as well. The likelihood of both of them being sick that hard to skip school was so low.

She sighed and leaned her head back. She liked him. There was no doubt about it. And she had screwed everything like an idiot. He was gone for sure.

Suddenly she heard the sound of so many cars coming towards the mansion from the slightly open window. The game room's windows were opening to the front of the house. She stood curiously and walked to the window. James and Jordan followed her as well. She saw a limo escorting with four SUVs coming toward the house and frowned. Were they expecting guests?

She watched curiously as the cars pulled in front of the house. Guards came out of the SUVs and one of them opened the limo's door. Alison's heart skipped a bit and then began to beat miles in second as she saw a young man in a black suit and tie step out of the car and button up his suit jacket. His black hair had been slicked back neatly and he looked so handsome in his fitted suit. Power and determination were radiating from in waves "Alex!" she whispered and smiled faintly while breathing unevenly.

Alex stood there tall and proud while three other men stepped out of the car. As if he felt Alison's intense stare, he looked up and his gray eyes shone as they locked with Alison's ocean blue ones. Alison felt her insides melt under his sharp gaze and her knees weakened. She had missed the feeling a lot.

Suddenly crimson velvet curtain blocked her view and she blinked several times. She looked down and saw angry-looking James and Jordan. "I didn't like the way that jerk was staring at you, Alie." said James with a deep frown and Jordan nodded in agreement.

"Language, James." scolded Alison as she pulled the curtain away again but Alex was nowhere to see. He must have come inside of the house. "What are you doing here, Alex?" she whispered as she looked away. "What is in your mind?"
