《My mother married a Capo》Chapter 15

Alison woke up the next morning refreshed. She rolled to her side and felt something hard under her. She grabbed it and brought it out from under the blankets and grinned widely. It was the sack of rice that Damien had made for her. A sign that the events of last night weren't a dream.

She stood and went to her bathroom while doing a happy dance. She went and took a hot shower which helped her a lot. She then changed into a blue blouse and comfortable jeans and walked outside while grabbing her bag and phone. Immediately she heard angry voices coming from downstairs. She frowned and walked downstairs. She was on top of the few last stairs when she saw Mason, Rich, Ben, Damien, and Xander walking toward the front door. The three older were in suits like always and the twins were in black jeans, a white t-shirt, and black leather jackets. They all looked angry, even Rich.

"I don't give a fuck about that," said Mason on the phone and Alison felt as if the temperature in the room dropped ten degrees from his cold and dangerous tone. One of the guards quickly opened the door for him as he approached it. Dominance and power were dripping from his posture. "I just want to know who is the fucker who has fucking dared to steal from us and burn our warehouse to ashes."

Alison felt a presence behind her and saw Hunter standing there. His face was grim as well as he watched his brothers walking out. "What has happened?" asked Alison and he turned to her and smiled faintly. "Someone has dared to steal from us." he explained simply and put a hand on her back and guided her down the few stairs and towards stairs. "Don't be worried. Everything will be fine. Come, let's eat something and then leave for school. It's only you and me today."

Alison nodded and followed him toward the kitchen. "By the way." asked Hunter and looked at her smugly and smirked. "Did something happen between you and Damien last night? He had given me strict orders to make sure you eat well."

Alison blushed and her eyes widened. She shook her head frantically. "No of course not." she said in haste. "I just didn't feel fine last night and he helped me out. Just that."

Hunter chuckled under his breath. "I know, sissy. I was just teasing you." he said and patted her back as they walked into the kitchen and were greeted with Marisa.

Oliver dropped them at school after breakfast. The school was completely uneventful that day. Alex and his friend Simon were absent as well. To Alison's surprise, she had missed him and was slowly regretting giving him that impossible mission to gain her brothers' trust that he probably was never going to accomplish.

It was after dinner and she had sat behind her desk doing her homework when she heard Hunter singing a marching tone. She frowned and looked at the corridor through her open door just to see James and Jordan marching into her room, each carrying a big bowl of snacks. "Stop, soldiers." said Hunter like an old marshal and he walked in as well, carrying another bowl. Alison chuckled at the funny sight. The three of them were in their pajamas, the twins wearing their favorite spiderman pajamas while Hunter was in a t-shirt and basketball shorts.

Alison stood and put a hand on her hip. "What's going on here?" she asked.

"We are going to have a movie night in sissy's room." shouted James and threw his hands up and caused so many popcorns to fall on the ground.

"Easy there, buddy." chuckled Hunter and put the bowl in his hands on the desk. "Now we only need a TV here. Hold on."

Alison chuckled as he walked out of the room. "Okay guys, hop on the bed." she said and the twins ran and jumped on her bed, while scattering snacks everywhere. Alison walked in her closet and changed into her pajamas to match the theme.

When she went out, she saw Hunter had placed a large TV on her chair right at the bed's feet. The three boys had made themselves cozy on her bed and were eating snacks while searching on Netflix for a movie to watch.

"What are you guys want to see?" she asked as she sat beside them.

"Horror." they all answered in union.

Alison frowned. "No! absolutely not." she said firmly.

"Why?" the three whined together and looked at her pleadingly.

Alison would have laughed at their funny faces, but she kept her serious face. She looked at Hunter. "Hunter you can't play a horror movie for the twins. They are kids. It's gonna affect their sleeping." she scolded.

"But we always watch horror movies with the boys." said James as he stood on his knees and put his hands on Alison's shoulders and gave her his puppy eyes. "Please, Alie. It won't affect our sleep. I promise."

Alison's face cracked to a smile after a moment of resistance. She rolled her eyes and sighed. "Okay. Just once though." she said and the three boys cheered.

One horror movie became two and at the end of the second one, the three boys were snoring around Alison. Alison turned off the TV and switched on the lamp on the nightstand. She looked around her. James and Jordan had rested their heads on her lap. Half of James' body was horizontally on top of Hunter's who was sleeping with his mouth open, snoring lightly.

Alison chuckled and carefully put the now empty bowls on the nightstand. She then gently put the twins' heads on the pillows around her and covered everyone with blankets. She then leaned on the headboard and sighed. The others had not come back home yet. Although Hunter had assured her that everything was fine, she still was worried for all of them, even Xander.

"Alie," whispered Jordan as he snuggled closer to her side.

"Yes, honey?" she whispered back and ran her hand through his hair.

"Can you sing a lullaby?" he asked innocently without opening his eyes.

Alison smiled down at him and began to sing a lullaby that her mother was singing for her and Bella when they were kids. It was long, but she loved it. She closed her eyes and leaned her head on the headboard while singing and running her hand through Jordan's hair. So she didn't see four shadows passing the door, three stood there and one went to his room but kept his door open.

It was a rough day for the King's older brothers. Recently someone was messing with their shipments, but early that morning, they had become bolder and had stolen one of their shipments, had burned one of the Kings' main warehouses, and had killed everyone there. Mason was fuming. He had ordered every single one of his men to search and find the culprits. Turned out many mafia groups and gangs of the city had been rubbed or damaged since last night. So it was not a small gang or something, they had guessed it was another Mafia who wanted to show its power and claim over the city and Mason was deadly serious to find out the ones behind it. And he did. The Russian's biggest mafia, the Volkovs.

Even the name was causing the King family to tremble with anger. The Russians were an old enemy of them. The Kings had taught a lesson to them eight years ago and had killed their leader, Daniel Volkov. But it seemed that they had found a new leader and were responsible for everything that had happened that day.

All of them were exhausted as they walked into the silent house. Mason was becoming a ruthless leader when it came to the mafia. He had barked orders around all day and finally they had found one of Russian's hideouts, but after killing most of the people there and torturing their hostages to death, they turned out empty-handed.

Mason was frustrated. He had not rested nor ate anything since morning and he was on the top level of his bad mood. He had shot one of his men, just because he was getting on his nerves with his constant talking. Not even his brothers were daring to go close to him.

Yet the strong and confidant steps of that arrogant, ruthless mafia leader faltered on top of stairs when he heard an angelic soothing voice, singing a lullaby. He stopped right in front of Alison's room and was shocked at how his younger siblings were cuddled with each other. Xander walked to his room, but Rich and Damien stood behind Mason watching him worriedly.

Mason closed his eyes and slid down the wall. He stretched one of his legs and bent the other and put one of his arms on it's knee. He closed his eyes and relaxed as he let Alison's song ease his tension. Rich and Damien were shocked by what they saw, but they didn't say a word, knowing that their older brother which was carrying the main weight of the business alone, needed that moment of peace a lot.

Alex threw punch after punch at the poor man's face who was tied on a chair in the room. His white dress shirt was dotted with drops of blood. Simon was leaning on a wall, smoking a cigarette watching his friend taking out his anger on the poor guy they had captured alive that morning. One of their main hideouts had been attacked that morning and they had seen a lot of damage. Alex's father was furious so was Alex. Those fuckers had caused him to miss school that day. Not that he was a fan of that shit hole, but he had not seen Alison because of that.

"That's enough, Alex." said Dean Mansfield, Simon's father, and Alex's father right hand, as he walked into the room followed by John their IT man. "We know enough now." he said and looked disgusted at the bloodied man who was barely alive. "And I'm sure this son of a bitch can't talk for the rest of his life with what you have done to him."

"As you wish, Dean." said Alex as he pulled out his gun from his waistband and shot the man between his eyes without much of a flinch in his muscles. "What do we know?"

"It was Russians." said John and Alex and Simon's eyes grew wide. "It seems that they have found a new leader and have come back to claim their lordship over America's mafia."

"It seemed they had made a chaos in the city from last night." said Dean. What he said next, grabbed Alex attention hard. "The Kings had seen the most damage. The Russian's have stolen one of their shipments while burning one of their main warehouses to ashes. The Russian and Kings always had a war over America's territory. The Russian's has come back to take revenge. The Kings will be in danger the most. Mason King was on fire today."

Alex was now drowned in his thoughts. That was bad. Very bad. The feud between the Kings and Russians would put Alison's life in danger. Alex's bloodied fists tightened even more and he clenched his jaw. The Russians should have passed from his corpse before laying their dirty hands on his Alison.

"Alex!" Simon shouted and brought Alex out of his thoughts. John and Dean had left the room a few moments ago.

"What?" growled Alex angrily.

"I asked what do you think will happen?" asked Simon. "The Russians will either come to us for alliance or would try to destroy us like what they did eight years ago."

"We never will become their ally. Have you forgotten what we went through eight years ago?" asked Alex. He thought for a moment before an idea suddenly popped into his mind and he smirked slowly.

"Oh no." groaned Simon and shook his head. "I don't like what is going on in that mind of yours. I don't like that devil smile."

"Come, we should met my father. I have a plan to make everything right." said Alex and glanced one last time at the dead man. "And send someone to clean this mess up." he said before he walked out of the room followed by Simon. He was going to shoot a few targets with one shot.
