《The Island Princess (Edmund Pevensie x Reader)》20

A week had past since the mist was released from the bottle. I had been steering the ship all on my own. The sun was almost going down. I knew that this would be the day they all wake up and realize we we're not where we originally were.
I heard a groan from the lower deck. I rushed to see where the sound came from. It was Edmund.
I took his groan as a sign that the effects were already wearing off. I quietly ran into the room to get into position.
Thirty minutes had past and at this point, I was hearing muffled voices and footsteps echoing around the ship.
Then it sounded like they were all gathering around one area. I decided to watch them through the window. They were all gathered around Edmund who looked... sick.
From a distance, I could see a bat trying to catch my attention. The bat was holding a bottle of some sort. It was hiding under an overhead, behind a barrel. I already knew who it was, although I couldn't talk to the bat yet. There were too many people.
Soon, they got off the ship and went into the island. Once the coast was clear, I sneaked out of my room, extra cautious to be sure no one was watching. Unfortunately I was cautious of everything except of what was in front of me.
I had bumped into Lucy.
This wasn't good. She probably already knows that I was the one who spread the mist.
"Sorry." I quickly stood up.
I was about to scamper out of her way though she didn't look angry. Maybe she doesn't know anything yet.
Instead of looking at me with anger, she looked at me as if she was about to give up.
Not knowing what to do, I attempted to make small talk and pretend that I didn't know what was going on.
"It's crazy how we're at the Mainland, huh?" I remarked. "How long do you think we were asleep?"
She didn't answer me.
I then noticed the redness in her eyes. Did she cry?
Was she okay?
"Uh... are you okay?" I asked.
She then burst into tears.
"Hey.. what's wrong?" I asked her, hesitantly putting my hands on her shoulders. I wasn't sure if it was okay with her.

She couldn't answer me. The image of her upset took over my mind completely. Everything else I was focusing on a minute ago, I had totally forgotten. Why?
Her body slowly leaned into mine and she just buried herself in my chest. She cried and cried and cried.
Following my instincts, I gave her a comforting hug. One hand of mine was stroking her hair. "Shhhh."
"This bottle isn't mine." she whimpered as she fiddled with the bottle in her hands. "I don't know what else to do to help Ed..."
"Let it all out, Lucy." I told her. "What else could you have done?"
She slowly looked at me as if she had an idea. "I could still look for the herbs needed!" she exclaimed as she pulled herself away from my grip and ran down the ship to recollect with the others.
I watched as she ran down. I was momentarily interrupted by what she said. "This isn't my bottle"?
A flashback of the bat holding a bottle in it's hand hit me.
"Pst! Kid!" said a voice from behind. It was the man-bat. "Hurry up, would you? I might become batbecue."
I was planning on confronting him about the bottle.
Suddenly, the hybrid flashed Lucy's bottle in his man-bat hands. "Voila! Whoa-"
His grip slipped and the bottle went flying out of his hands. The creature attempted to catch it multiple times, but the bottle only ended up falling into the water. He gasped and quickly morphed back into a bat and dived to retrieve the bottle.
I went down the ship to look for the man-bat. I looked out and saw Y/N and Edmund. He looked terrible. Edmund must be really sick.
I continued to go behind the ship and saw the creature.
"You're lucky kid." he commented as he scanned the bottle to see if nothing was broken.
"Yeah okay, I'm lucky and you're stupid. What's a bat doing out in the sun?" I asked.
"I wouldn't be here if it weren't important." he told me. "That mist gave everyone temporary memory loss. So you can escape before the boy who you fought with can get the chance to expose you... or you don't even have to!"

"What are you saying?" I asked.
"Ah of course. You're welcome for saving your life." he said as he revealed the bottle.
I pointed at the bottle, desperate for answers. "Where did you get that?"
"It's the girl's!" he answered. "Lu-wee? Lu-anne?"
I rolled my eyes "Lucy."
"Ah yes Lucy." he corrected himself. "This magical thingamajig can cure any sickness!"
I thought deeply. That must've been what Lucy was looking for.
"If that's hers then what was she holding a while ago?" I asked.
"Oh that? That's poison." he chuckled.
"What?!" I yelled, hoping he was kidding. "Why would you- This isn't part of the plan! I didn't agree on hurting anybody!"
"Oh don't worry softie-boy, you didn't." he commented. "She did though."
"What do you mean?" I asked in disbelief.
"Well, she unknowingly dropped six drops of poison into her brother's mouth, thinking it was her healing juice thing."
He laughed. "Hey, at least now, no one will ever know that you were the reason we're back here." he winked.
"Give it to me." I demanded and I tried to grab it from him.
He revealed his fangs and let out a threatening hiss. "Careful kid. I bite."
I quickly pulled my hand away.
"What are you gonna do?" He asked. "Bring the bottle to them and then fill their minds up with assumptions that you stole the bottle and switched it with poison? Come on kid, don't be stupid. If you heal that boy, he'll remember and you'll probably be punished. We need this for To bring back your parents."
"This isn't right." I told him.
"Sure it is!" he exclaimed. "Once the effect wears of, you'll be unwanted anyway. You'll be alone."
"D-don't say that."
"At least if you have your parents, they would still want you. You wouldn't be alone."
I looked to the direction of Edmund lying on the floor. Followed by Lucy's helpless sobs.
"Even if you try to make things right now, everything will just end up being wrong." he said. "Do the right thing... for your parents."
I took a deep breath.
This has got to be the decision I have ever done.
Professor Cornelius walked closer to us. "Half of the plants in the forest are dead." he announced.
I looked at Edmund and watched as the red, vibrant color of his blood slowly faded away.
I put my hand on the ground to prevent myself from falling.
The weight of the water forming in my eyes could never compare to the weight I felt in my heart. Like gravity pulling it to an endless space.
At this point, I would've given anything to save Edmund's life. Even if it meant losing mine.
Edmund's shivering head slowly turned to me and he slightly opened his eyes using all the remaining strength he had left. "Y-Y-You're gon-n-a have to ma-ake up and e-excuse f-fo-for me." he said as he smiled. "Mrs. D-dobinches-t-ter w-would not b-b-be hap-happy."
I smiled at his remark. "Stop talking, Ed. You're just gonna get weaker."
"H-Honestly? T-Th-the o-only thing I w-want t-to see r-right now would b-be your s-smile." He said as his grip became tighter.
Susan, Peter and Lucy came to sit around Edmund on his final moments.
Peter was trying not to cry. He felt like a failure of a brother. Susan felt the same. They didn't know how this happened but they still blamed themselves.
Edmund slowly closed his eyes.
Was this it?
If I only had one wish, I would wish for the only herb that could heal Edmund. Just that herb and nothing else. I wish I could make it appear.
Suddenly I felt a tickle in my hand that was on the ground for my support.
I quickly lifted my hand and saw a four big blue leaves, in the shape of snowflakes.
I watched as the beautiful plant grew bigger and bigger. Everyone else noticed this too.
Once it was done. We all looked at the Professor for an answer.
The Professor slowly walked closer to the plant and inspected it. "The herb...
... That's what we need to save King Edmund!"

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
