"No... Damn it. Miranda you fucking bitch."
I set the kid down on the makeshift bed. New and old blood stained their clothes.
"Come on kid. You're gonna be fine."
My hands shook pressing on the bleeding gash. Torn stitches lined the edges. The bandages did nothing against the blood.
"Fuck! Somebody better get their ass over here!"
My voice broke.
After all this I couldn't lose this kid.
Someone ran over. My vision doubled.
Two people started working on (Y/N), another grabbed me.
"No. You won't touch me until that kid is awake."
I stood next to the kid. My body was aching and fresh blood covered my clothes.
"Sir you're not going to make it until the kid wake up if you don't let us help you."
The man pulled me down onto one of the empty beds. Blood coating it in seconds.
I hadn't realized how bad it was until the man pulled up my shirt. My skin was ripped open but I couldn't see where the lacerations were.
For the first time in a long time I was scared to die.
I felt exhausted and as the man stitched up every cut I could feel everything.
The area was clear of all signs of Miranda. The mold and decay were nothing but dust on the wind.
Ethan knelt on the ground, his child in hand.
His skin looked gray and his right hand was missing. Blood covered his sleeve but his arm was black.
I groaned as the pain in my abdomen got worse.
"I'm almost done, sir, but I suggest not to move for a while. I don't want these stitches to pull..."
I pushed him away as I sat up. He shook his head at me as he ran towards Ethan.
Gradually I stood.
The other men had just finished wrapping the kid up, as I got over there.
"I'm sorry kid. I should've done more... you shouldn't have had to do that or- or go through that..."
I sat down on the end of the bed. (Y/N)'s chest barely moving with each shallow breath they took.
A soft sigh left my lips, and I closed my eyes.
I was tired.
My whole body ached.
Someone cleard their throat and I opened my eyes again. It was the leader of the soldiers... Chris I think it was.
"There's an aircraft roughly two clicks from here. We need to transport everyone there, before we blow this place sky high."
"Wait... wait you can't just blow up this place-" I pushed my self off the bed to face him -"This village is people's home... my home."
"It's the only way to rid the world of the megamycete and Miranda for good."
I shook my head. "How are we gonna get there..."
He carefully picked (Y/N) up, bridal style, and walked out. I didn't know when but Ethan had left too.
"Everyone is already there ready for extraction... and I mean everyone."
|Time Skip|
He did mean everyone...
The girls were there. Swaddled in blankets and jackets, in front of a heater. Alcina hugged all three of them, new bandages and blood covering her.

The Duke was there, still sitting in his wagon of course, trying to sell his wares.
Donna lay surrounded by dolls, and Angie. She was awake, but looked out of sorts.
Moreau ran around offering food to everyone. Real food, which I guessed he got from one of the boxes of supplies. He was one of the only that wasn't covered in bandages.
Plenty of officers surrounded us. Guns at the ready, or passing out supplies.
Lastly I spotted Ethan, his kid, and a woman I didn't recognize.
Ethan sat on the edge of the aircraft, his arm wrapped around the woman, while she held Rose.
Chris set the kid down in the craft, laying across the seats.
I sat down at their feet and leaned my head back. The cool metal of the aircraft felt good against my head.
From somewhere outside I heard Chris speak out. "Get everyone loaded up, we've gotta move."
Soon people clambered in. Alcina and her daughters sitting right next to me.
"Wait where's the Duke?" I asked as one of the soldiers closed the door.
"He said he had other customers to appease elsewhere... whatever that meant, and he refused to get on."
I shook my head and leaned back as we took off.
"(Y/N) will be fine. They are stronger than you think."
Alcina was talking to me but she was gazing at the kid.
"I know..." I sighed, "I'm just scared."
Just as I said that the cabin lit up. The whole craft shook as the explosives detonated.
My ears rung and I could smell smoke.
"Get some sleep, Karl. Chris told me, we will be flying for a while."
"Where are we going? What are we going to do? Our homes were destroyed, the only place we've ever known..."
"I don't know yet. But whatever we do, we will do it together. All of us. As a family, like how it was supposed to be."
I sighed "What if we went back? We could rebuild everything, better than before... and we could get people back in the village..."
It was her turn to sigh. "We could all discuss that... but for now get some sleep. Please, you look horrible."
I nodded and leaned back. The seat was definitely not comfortable but it felt good to just relax.
Maybe I will finally get an actual bed to sleep on after this... no matter where we end up.
"Thank you, Alcina. For everything... and I mean that."
"Mhmm..." She patted my shoulder but didn't say anything else.
After a second a blanket covered me, I didn't open my eyes, but I knew who did it, and none of this would have been possible without her.
I didn't know when I fell asleep, or when I started drooling... but Alcina was shaking me awake.
"We're landing soon. Get up and wipe your face." She said shaking her head.
Soon we were safely on the ground and Chris stood in the middle of the cabin.
"You are permitted to stay here for a few weeks. When you figure out where you're going, we'll help with travel, and to get you settled. Now head inside and get comfortable."

Moreau offered to carry (Y/N). I didn't think it was a good idea or that he was strong enough, but he was stronger than I thought. I guess swimming that much would give you some muscle mass.
The whole place was surrounded with guards and military vehicles... It felt weird to just walk in without an issue.
Inside was not what I expected at all. Plants decorated the room, and splashes of color from pictures or furniture made the room vibrant.
Other than the decor the place had a modern type style, something I wasn't used to.
A lady ushered us over and we all followed her down the halls. She gave us each a room.
Each person settling in, making our group smaller person by person.
Donna, Ethan and his family, the girls, and finally Alcina. Until it was my turn.
"This one's for you... same thing I told them, clothes in the closet. Soap, towels, and bandages in the bathroom. If you need anything feel free to call."
"Where is the kid going?" I asked without even opening the door to my room.
"Oh um... we are taking them to the medical ward. Until they wake up of course. Then their room will be right down the hall.
"I recommend taking a shower and getting some rest before coming down to visit though. It doesn't seem like they will be up for a while... but we will alert you if they do."
I shook my head, slowly opening the door to my room, before turning back. "You make sure they get there unharmed, okay, Moreau?"
He nodded and I watched as they walked down the hall until they were out of sight.
I walked in to the room straight to the shower. The mirror caught my eye as I walked past.
My hair was greasy and matted with blood. My clothes and the flimsy bandages were so stained I didn't know what the original color was.
I sighed as I turned on the water, the steam filling the room almost immediately.
"Well at least the water's warm..."
I stripped off my ruined clothes and stepped in the shower. The hot water stinging my back.
It didn't take long for the runoff to turn red.
My eyes closed as I stood in there. I hadn't had a good shower in ages. Especially not a hot one.
After all the soap was gone from my hair and the water was finally clear again I turned off the water, with a sigh.
Without drying my hair I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked into the bedroom.
Sure enough clothes hung in the small closet. Surprisingly they even fit.
I pulled a pair of gray sweats out and a black shirt. Not my usual style but it was better than putting on my old clothes.
After I had dried and bandaged my self again, with some difficulty, I finally pulled on the shirt.
It felt wrong to go to bed when (Y/N) was stuck in the infirmary, or whatever it was called, but I was exhausted.
Even though I slept on the way over as soon as my back hit the bed I was out.
|Time Skip|
A rapid knock on the door woke me up.
"I'm fucking coming hold on..."
Still trying to wake up I opened the door to the same woman from before.
"I have good news! (Y/N) is awake and stable! If you want I could take you to see them."
I was out the door before she even finished. "Where are they?"
Silently she led me down the halls, each one somehow completely different but the same as before. Different artwork and plants but the same layout.
Finally we entered a bright colored room. A huge plant with rubbery looking leaves, sat by the door. It must have been the same height as Alcina.
"Just this way. Please keep your voice down for our other patients."
I followed her but didn't hear or see any sign of other patients.
Paintings hung from the walls, but I couldn't tell if they were made by children or professionals. All of the obnoxious colors made me sick.
The young lady opened a small door and stood aside for me to enter.
"Visiting hours end soon... and try not to make much noise, some of the other patients are sleeping."
I gave an awkward smile and walked past her into the room.
The kid was laying in one of the beds.
"Ugh, where are we? I feel terrible..."
I could feel tears in my eyes.
Without a word I walked over to hug them. Half my weight pressed on their chest.
"Ow! Oh ouch. What happened? Is everyone okay?"
I pulled away, and sat on the end of the bed. "I thought-" my voice broke. -"I thought you were gonna die... I thought I would loose you."
I shook my head, wiping my face.
"Everyone's fine... Well we all got hurt but everyone's here. I don't exactly know where here is, but it's safe."
A small knock came from the door.
"Visiting hours are done."
The young lady stood in the doorway, a small platter of hospital food in her hands. I couldn't even tell what half of it was.
"What? But he just got here!"
Now (Y/N) tried to sit up. They let out a small groan before laying back down.
"Sorry dear! Visiting hours are over, he may come back later. You need rest."
The kid sighed but waved a small goodbye.
"I guess I'll see you later kid... I'm glad you're okay, I bet everyone is."
With that I turned and left not waiting for the lady to follow. I had things to do.
Note from Author
Sooo... School started like 2 weeks ago. Which is half the reason why this didn't come out sooner. The other half is that I completely forgot this story existed...sorry about that.
But I will try to get this story finished soon. I can't make any promises though... Hope you enjoyed this episode and thanks for reading.
Sincerely your very tired Author :)
