《Shades of Red |Karl Heisenberg x child reader|》Episode 3 || New Memories

I woke up in an uncomfortable bed. It didn't even look like a bed, more like an autopsy table.

Not only was it uncomfortable but it was gross. There were spiderwebs in almost every corner, a thin layer of dirt covered the ground, and scraps and metal lay everywhere.

My joints cracked as I got up and made my way to the door. The hallways were empty, and the only sound that could be heard was the distant heartbeat of the machinery. I looked around, but couldn't find anyone.

While looking around I found a kitchen, that's when I realized how unbearably hungry I was. Though, the kitchen was just as dirty as the room I woke up in.

After about ten minutes of searching, I found almost nothing. The only things I did find were some saltine crackers and a box of stale cereal.

I took the crackers and continued my search around the empty halls.

|Time Skip|

The first room I came across was barely lit, and I had to heat up my hand to create some light.

When I could finally see, the sight was horrifying, but not as bad as the scent that burned my nose.

More than a dozen dead bodies lay on the ground and on tables. Some were missing limbs other had huge gashes and holes in their bodies. I should have left, but I continued looking around.

A small body sat on a table, isolated from the rest. I couldn't tell how old the person was but he couldn't have been more than fourteen.

He had large cuts on his arms and chest with peices of metal attached to his face. I looked closer and could see scrap metal in his chest, though I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be there or not.

Soon I grew to sick of the smell to continue looking in that room and left. My crackers were long gone, and even if I had more I don't think I'd be able to eat them after seeing that.

Another door sparked my interest pulling me from my thoughts. A small door sat hidden away in a corner, with a pool of dried blood spilling out from under it.

I walked in to a smell almost as bad as the other room. Though this room smelt more like rust, battery acid, and decomposed corpses.

The entire floor was covered in bodies and various mechanical parts. Except for one spot in the middle of the room. It looked like an arena.

I walked closer into the ring, the stench of cadavers still burning my nose. This place was looked like a testing room, for those metal monsters.

A peice of paper sat on the table in the corner, so I walked over to examine it. It was obviously Heisenberg's messy handwriting and it read,

This is the fifth test run on the soldat eins. This specimen can defeat three normal lycans in under a minute. Though it did sustain severe damage to its reactor. My next project will be adding additional...

My mind trailed off after a little while of reading. Not only was it boring but it was also hard to read.

I decided to leave again, since my nose couldn't handle the stench any longer, and continued down the lonely hallways.

I turned the corner to find a strange elevator, and a couple of buttons stood next to it. I clicked one of them and the elevator came to life. Soon the metal doors opened to reveal a man surrounded by an assortment of items.

"Ah, welcome." The man barely looked up from his notebook. Smoke curled away from the cigar he was holding.

"Who are you? And why are you in an elevator?"

He snickered a bit before answering. "I am, but a humble merchant. Though, you can call me the Duke."

I let out a small sigh, still trying to figure out why this guy was in an elevator, when a heavenly aroma drifted into the air around us. My mouth started to water as my stomach let out a low grumble.

"Young (Y/N), is it? You must be hungry. Lord Heisenberg, doesn't make for much of a cook, does he?"

Before even questioning how he knew who I was I laughed. "He's definitely a horrible cook. There's barely anything in his kitchen."

He beckoned me over to sit next to him and brought two plates, of what looked like fish, out.

"Here, I have just enough for two."

We sat in silence for a while just enjoying the food. The Duke took the empty plates and put them off to the side.

"So, (Y/N)... Would you like to make a purchase?" I had completely forgot he said he was a merchant.

"I don't really have any money though..." I trailed off looking around at all the cool stuff in the elevator.

"I would be happy to take that necklace off your hands."

Necklace? I looked down and sure enough a necklace hung around my neck. I touched the blue gemstone and a shiver ran through my entire body.

A small image of a women's face flashed through my mind. She was smiling down at me.

I didn't remember anything about this women, so she must have been from before Mother Miranda found me... and did all those tests.

"I... I think I'll keep this. It's somehow important, to me."

He smiled and nodded as if he already understood everything I was saying. "Well in that case, would you like anything else, from me? Any services perhaps?"

I thought for a moment before remembering the empty kitchen. The thought of ever being able to make something as delicious as the Duke made me smile.

"Yes actually. If it's not to much trouble, I would like to learn to cook."

The all-knowing smile flashed across his face again as he reached behind himself to grab something. He pulled out a small frying pan and a hand full of ingredients.

"I'm afraid I can't light a fire in this elevator, the air is far to thick already. Though I trust, you will be able to provide the proper flames?" He asked this question with an eyebrow raised, which made me nod my head. After that meal I felt like I could go on for days.

We cooked meal after meal. I held the pan with my hands to heat it, while the Duke added and mixed the ingredients. It took forever, but we finally decided to stop. He took half of every dish and I took the other.

I started walking back down the boring halls, towards the kitchen to put the food, I had made, away. Surprisingly the fridge worked so I left it in there and continued down the hallways.

A sound startled me out of my thoughts. It wasn't the normal sounds of the factory, it was more of like the sound of a truck starting.

Stupidly I followed where the sound was coming from, into a work room. It was the same room I woke up in. The sound however was coming from Heisenberg. He was snoring.

Heisenberg sat in front of the workbench with his head down. Not only was he snoring, but I'm pretty sure he was also drooling.

I looked around the room to find something I use.

The only option that seemed sense-able was to push the chair to the bed, and roll Heisenberg into it. So I tried it.

I pushed his head backwards so he wasn't leaning on the table, turns out he was drooling, and started to try and push the chair. He and the chair were heavier then they looked...

My hands were accidentally heating up from the amount of energy I was using, so I took a short break.

I had to sit on the ground, since Heisenberg was taking the only chair, but I didn't mind. During my break I spotted something...

I spotted a small shiny object in the corner of my eye. It sat on a small nightstand right next to the work bench. I got up from were I was sitting and walked over to discover a ring.

The ring was mainly gold, but had a small jewel in the center. I picked up the ring and a small shock went through my fingers.

Another flash, of what seemed like a memory, passed through my head. Two people sat above me this time instead of just the women. They looked happy... Just as the image was fading away the man fell to the floor coughing.

I let out a small shaky breath and pocketed the ring.

Instead of trying to move the chair again I just looked around for a blanket. Quickly I found one laying in one of the corners. I shook it out and a cloud of dust flew into the air around me. Holding in a cough, I covered him up and left the room.

"I need time to think..." I muttered to myself, walking randomly into the dark tunnels.
