"Y/n..." I heard someone whispering in my ear. Their voice was soft but it broke me out of my light sleep.
"Huh?" I sat up quickly, bumping heads with the person that was looming over me. I fell back onto my bed holding my head with one hand. The other person groaned in pain at the head bump.
I opened my eyes for them to be met with brown ones. Ones that could melt any girls soul. "Jack? What are you doing in my house?"
"Your Mom let me in," he shrugged and sat beside me.
"Am I late for getting ready?" I sat up again and instantly felt the pain of my head. "Jesus Jack is your head made of metal?"
"No and I really don't know. That would explain why I didn't hurt my head when I fell off a slide," he fell back onto my mattress.
After I checked the time (5:35 a.m.) I squinted my eyes at him. "Why are you here so early?"
"I woke up early thinking about you," he rubbed his eyes.
"So you decide to come and wake me up?" I glared my tired eyes at him.
"I wanted to see you," he shrugged lazily. He grabbed my arm and pulled me into his chest.
"At least let me get dressed and then I'll cuddle you," I tried to push him off me.
He groaned and let me go, turning onto his back. I sat up and jumped out of my bed. I went to my closet and grabbed some black skinny jeans. I grabbed Jack's hoodie and successfully made my way to the bathroom.
I slipped out of my pajamas and into my clothes for the day. I used the bathroom before going back into my room, of course after washing my hands. I brushed my hair in front of my mirror, getting stuck on a few knots.
After finishing my hair I set my brush down on my dresser. I went back to my bed where Jack was laying with his eyes closed. "Want something to eat?" I whispered into his ear.
"Do you plan on cooking?" he looked at me with one eye open.
"Nah. If you eat it's cereal," I waited for his reply.
"Sure," and with that we went downstairs and poured our bowls of cereal.
"Hey sweetheart," my Mom came over to me and pulled my hair back to kiss my forehead from behind.
"Hi," I replied, looking up at her.
"M/n, if it isn't too much trouble can I take Y/n to a party tonight?" Jack asked my Mom.
"If you keep her away from any guys, drugs, and alcoholic drinks then you can go. But you have to promise," my Mother gave Jack a stern look through her tired e/c eyes.
"I promise to keep her away from any of those," he nodded and held out his pinkie. My Mom linked pinkies with him.
"Say what you'll keep her away from."
"Guys, drugs, and alcoholic drinks," he answered.
"One more that I forgot to say. Date rape drugs. Don't let a guy or girl sneak that drug into her drink," she unlinked pinkies with Jack. She then pointed at me. "Stay by Jack's side, okay?"
"Okay Mom," I nodded and stood up. I took my empty bowl to my sink and rinsed it. I went back to my Mom and hugged her.

"Okay, hurry up Jack," I tapped my foot.
"Okay okay," he shoved a very full spoon of cereal into his already stuffed mouth. I shook my head and turned away.
"That's actually disgusting," I laughed.
"You said hurry," he said, muffled by his mouth of food.
"Yeah yeah," I shook my head and started heading up the stairs.
"Awe come on you can't wait?"
"Nope!"
I went into my room and crawled onto my bed. I unplugged my phone from it's cord and unlocked the screen. I opened my texts and clicked Ally's contact.
I set my phone down beside me and inhaled sharply. I turned on my side and contemplated life. Why was I pretending to be Jack's girlfriend? Why was Ellie so rude? Why was Ally so nice to me? Why am I falling for Jack? I let out a deep sigh. I didn't have the answers to any of those.
"What's with the sigh?" I felt the bed dip the slightest bit when Jack laid beside me.
"Ah no reason," I turned to face him and gave a smile. "By the way you are not the cutest when eating."
"You told me to hurry," Jack huffed.
"Yeah but in a cute way. Not a 'nom nom' way," I wrapped my arms around his neck and scooted towards him.
"What's a 'nom nom' way?" Jack asked with a small confused smile.
"Ah you know, 'imma eat all this food nom'," I imitated Jack shoving the food into his mouth.
"I'm still cute then though," he pulled me closer by my hips. My arms fell between us and pressed against his chest.
"Keep dreaming pretty boy," I giggled and nuzzled my head into his chest.
"Pretty boy? I'm pretty now?"
"I never said you weren't pretty. I just never told you."
"Fake dating makes you bold?" Jack smirked at me.
"I don't know. Maybe," I shrugged.

"Party?" Ally asked as I made my way to her. "Since when do we go to parties?"
"Since Jack," I sighed and opened my locker.
"Well lucky for you I asked my parents if I could stay with you after school," she smirked.
"Before or after I sent the text?"
"Before. I figured you would do something today," she replied. "I told Sophia too."
"What happens if you can't come home with me?" I raised my eyebrow at her as I closed my locker.
"We can figure something out. I think Sophia just told them she'd be home late," she grabbed her phone from her back pocket and texted her parents. "Told them I'd be home late."
"Good," I smiled at her.
"You don't want me there? Wow, harsh much," she fake pouted.
"Yeah yeah, I'm the worst, I know."
"Boo," Sophia poked her head between ours. "So what are we doing tonight at this party?"
"Honestly I have no idea. Jack just asked my Mom if I could go to a party with him this morning," I sighed.
"Why was he at your house before you left?" Sophia asked.
"Did I say that he was?" I put a hand on my hip and cocked an eyebrow.
"No but I just tho-"
"Yes he was but he didn't spend the night. He just came early this morning."

"You cut me off," Sophia whined.
"Go cry to someone who cares," Ally joined in. "Kidding. I'm kidding!"
I snickered as Sophia slapped the back of Ally's head. After I snickered she hit the back of mine. I glared at her from my peripheral vision. She just laughed in a mocking way.
"Is that his hoodie?" Ally asked, recovered from the smack she'd received.
"Yeah. He left it with me so I wore it again," I started playing with the strings.
"Did he notice this morning?" Sophia asked next.
"Not really, no."
"Awe dang. We'll get him to notice tonight," Sophia winked at me.
"She was wearing my hoodie," I heard from behind me.
"Oof sounds like he noticed," Ally teased.
"Loverboy's talking about you," Sophia cooed.
"Dude she totally likes you," I heard Finn's voice. Then they started whispering a little too loudly.
"Do you think she heard us?" Jack whispered.
"Probably. That's what you wanted though, right?" Finn's whisper voice came next.
"Yeah. I feel bad for not noticing earlier," I heard a sigh.
"Dude she can hear you! Go to class!" Sophia pointed down the hall.
"Appreciate the effort Jack," I winked at him with a smile.
He shyly waved before disappearing down the hall with Finn. "Well let's get to class now too."

"You look cute in it," Keith stated to which I raised an eyebrow.
"Cute? Y'know this is my boyfriend's hoodie," I leaned against my chair, taking a deep breath.
"Yeah you've told me. Just stating my opinion," he replied.
"Well t-" I felt something light hit my leg. I looked down to see a paper airplane. I leaned down and picked the paper up.
I unfolded the plane, figuring there would be writing on it in some form. I was correct in that it did have writing. I looked at the end of the small note to see Ellie's signature. I rolled my eyes and looked up at her. She was staring at me.
I read the words above the girl's signature. 'You'll never be cute. Don't let him lie to you ;) -Ellie' I looked back up to see her turned around. I could hear the small giggles from her group though.
I sighed and folded the paper back up. I stuck it into my pocket with my phone. I looked forward at the teacher and ignored Keith as he tried to talk to me. Not because I believed the note, more like because I didn't feel like talking to him.
"What did that note say?"
"...."
"Are you okay?"
"...."
"Can you please talk to me?"
His questions were each between when the teacher was talking and when the teacher was quiet. They were always whispers and never more. They kept getting more and more annoying each time though.
"Is it because I called you cute?"
"No. Just shut up for a minute. I don't feel like talking," I mumbled.
"Jeez. Someone's on their period," Keith stated making me roll my eyes.
The rest of the class went by slowly. Really all that we did was take notes and answer questions. I never raise my hand and I'm not that noticeable in the crowd of students so I never got called on.
I watched the clock as it slowly reached one minute of class. The teacher was talking as I focused on the clock. I counted the time down as it went. The teacher let us out when the clock turned directly onto the time we get out. This teacher had an alarm set for a minute early but never let us out then.
I bundled up my things and waited until Ellie disappeared from the room. I headed towards the door with Keith trailing behind me. When we were out into the hallway and I was busy dodging people, I took the time to talk.
"You look like a lost puppy following me," I turned my head to signal I was talking to him.
"No I don't. You're talking to me now," he claimed.
I sighed and gave him a glare. "Yes, but I don't really want to and I have a bitch face right now."
"Isn't that your normal face?" he said sarcastically.
"I'm not going to talk to you anymore today Mr. Piss-ass."
"Mr. Piss-ass? Are you a two year old?"
"Do two year olds cuss?"
"Thought you weren't talking to me."
I shrugged and walked faster. He probably didn't mean what he said about me looking cute. I mean, who's that mean after they call you cute? I'm not the bitch here.
I spotted Jack at my locker and left Keith to talk to himself. I let out a sigh of relief as I made it to my locker. I opened my locker and stuffed my things into it. He must've noticed that I wasn't very happy.
"You okay?" he asked, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"No. Look what your girlfriend threw at me in class," I snatched the note from my pocket and threw it at his chest. It fell to the ground in front of him therefore he had to bend down to pick it up.
He read the note, silently inspecting the words written in Ellie's handwriting. He looked up into my eyes, a sympathetic glint in his eyes. "You don't have to be my fake girlfriend. You can back out."
"I'm not about to back out now. I'm not the pathetic girl she takes me as," I crossed my arms after shutting my locker.
"Who called you cute?" he asked. It looked like he already knew the answer himself.
"Keith. I basically ended up ignoring him the whole class," I shrugged.
"Because he called you cute?" we started walking.
"Of course not. I just didn't feel like talking," I looked down at the floor with my hands stuffed in my hoodie pocket.
"Ah. I don't like that guy."
"And why not?" his statement had my attention.
"He called you cute even though he knows you have a boyfriend. He's even met me," he shook his head. I grabbed his hand. The hand holding was becoming a habit of mine.
"Why do you care so much? It's not like we're actually dating," I stared at him.
"I care about you and I don't want you to get with the wrong guys," he looked back at me. I blushed and looked away.
"I won't," I shook my head slightly.
"Promise?" I looked back at him. He held his other hand up with his pinkie sticking out.
"Promise," I replied, interlocking pinkies with him.

Souls of Savagery
Souls of Savagery is a series of short stories intended to function much like a comic book series. However, to experience the complete story in a logical order you should read the volumes in numerical order, starting of course, with Volume 1: A Bloodbath by Any Other Name. Each volume is told from a single point of view and that will change from volume to volume. Though, the narrative will require later volumes to return to characters that have been featured previously. I hope you enjoy.
