《Mated to a Bad Boy》Chapter 7: Bitter Words and a Gruesome Discovery

His eyes are blazing with anger as they stare deep into mine. This wolf carries an air of dominance, enough to evoke fear. The black wolf stands over me, glaring, his eyes like burning coals. I try to keep calm but on the inside I'm shaking. Then the big brown wolf walks over and is about to pick me up by the scruff of the neck again. I snap at him, letting my lip flare up to expose my teeth as I let a growl slowly rumble its way up from my throat. I can walk just fine on my own four legs bastard, I'm not a pup. He quickly backs away from me. On the walk back to the house I feel nervous, my wolf pacing. Who the hell are these two?

Back at the house the black wolf shifts and my jaw drops. Hunter now stands before me, his broad shoulders facing me. On his back is a tattoo of a dragon with plumes of hellish smoke seeping out of its mouth and nostrils and eyes like a raging storm.

"Shift and go inside." he growls, not turning to look at me. I'm definitely in trouble. "Now!"

I quietly shift and grab my clothes, pulling them on and walking into the house. I hear the door slam behind me, hard enough to make the room shake. He is really pissed.

"The fuck is wrong with you? I told you to stay in the house." He growls behind me.

"I'm sorry, I refuse to be a caged bird." I sneer. "Besides, why should I be locked in the house while you're running around doing god-knows-what with god-knows-who?"

"I told you to stay inside for your protection! Like it or not you're my mate and I need to keep you protected."

"Mate in name only, remember? As for protecting me, I am very capable of protecting myself. Now go put some clothes on and don't bother me."

"Why are you being so difficult?" He growls.

"Gee, I wonder why?" I respond sarcastically. "As my mate you are supposed to listen to me when I say I don't trust someone. " I watch out of the corner of my eye as Hunter slips on a pair of jeans and buttons them.

"And as my mate you should listen to everything I tell you. If I tell you someone is innocent than they are innocent."

"Then I guess we're not mates." I sigh, looking at the floor. Just then a scream rings out over the territory. Hunter takes off and I follow him. The screams are coming from in between two houses. A girl with brunette hair speckled with streaks of silver stares wide-eyed into the space. When I look into the dark space, barely big enough to fit a person, I see a woman laying there in a pool of her own blood. Her blonde hair was matted with clumps of blood and dirt and her position was inhuman. Her limbs were broken every which way, bones poking out, her head almost backwards. The sight makes me sick to my stomach.

"Aiden, take Roxie back to the house now." Hunter demands and Aiden quickly escorts me away. My body is shaking. Who the hell would do something like that? How did they...? There is no way any werewolf could do that. We may be stronger than your average human but, there is no way we can mangle a body like that.

Back at the house I sit on the couch staring blankly at the TV with tears streaming down my face. My body is still trembling despite the blanket wrapped around me. What did that girl do to deserve this?

Hours later Hunter walks in and sits down next to me. His face looks strained as he rubs his temples.

"Aiden, you are dismissed."

Aiden scrambles out of the room, now it's just me and Hunter. Alone together in the silence of the dark room. Finally a sigh brakes the silence.

"Now you understand why I told you to stay inside?" He asks and I merely respond with a slight nod.

"Who was she? How could someone do this?"

"She's not the first. We found another girl when you were in the hospital. The girl you saw was Mia and the other one was Harper. Harper was found in her house, her face was barely recognizable. Both of them where girls from my past." Hunter rubs the back of his neck. Girls from his past meaning girls he slept with.

"How did she.. ?"

"Our only guess was that she was pushed off of a nearby cliff or something and then placed there to be found like whoever is behind this is toy with us. Aiden and a few other wolves were with me looking for her. Her mother called last night saying that she hadn't come home. I was hoping to find her before something bad happened, then I heard from Caleb and Jasper that you gave them the slip." A chill runs down my spine.

"I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault, we were already too late. You are safer in this house than out there. At least until the one responsible is caught." He reaches his arm around my shoulders, rubbing my arm. Okay, he can be surprisingly sweet at times.

"So I'm on house arrest?"

"In a sense, yes."

That night I curled up in my bed, sleep a distant thought. Every creek makes my hair stand on end. As far as I'm concerned, Autumn is still not off the suspect list. Just like a hyena, she could be eliminating all her female competition till she is on top. I know if I bring it up again Hunter will get mad at me. I can only hope this matter is dealt with soon before it's too late for me or any other girl.

Sorry for not uploading for a while. A lot of stuff has been going on. I've been renovating an apartment that had been trashed by the tenants, working from early morning (1'sh) to dark (around midnight) so I have not really had much time to write.
