-Nikki P.O.V-
I was sitting in the mess hall with my tray of food. David and Gwen were no where to be found, which was good because all I could think about was them and that kiss. I shouldn't have been snooping around but I felt like Gwen was my real mom which is a weird thing to say. But I care about her and wanted to make sure everything was okay. I looked around and saw Harrison and Nerris sitting with each other. Preston and dolph were sitting together and I was all alone. Everyone was hanging out with someone but me. I felt so sad and lonely, I still couldn't believe my first kiss was with my best friend. As much as I love max I see that love as a brotherly kind of love, Not a romantic type of way. Neil walked into the mess hall as well as max. They were talking and laughing and acting like my best friends again. I wondered if they would sit with me or not. I didn't think I would be able to keep in max kissing me from Neil. They had their trays in front of them now and were scanning around the room max walked over and sat across from me, Neil walked over and smiled and sat down right next to me surprisingly.
"Hey Nikki, what do you think about putting bees in the councilors cabin? I'm sure David and Gwen would be freaking out." Max said with a grin on his face. I dropped my fork at their names and then acted as if nothing happened. I guess they picked up on that because both of them gave me a confused look.
"Are you okay Nikki?" Neil asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine why?" I said trying to change the subject.

"Oh, Nothing you just dropped your fork when we were talking about the councilors." Neil said.
"Uh, what? I just dropped the fork for no reason. Not like I'm keeping something from you or anything." I tried lying.
"Okay what's going on?" Max said giving me a serious look. The mess hall door opened to David. But something was off he didn't have a cheery smile or was enthusiastic he was just plain. David had a frown on his face and Gwen was nowhere in sight. David walked in and stood by the door.
"What's wrong with David?" I asked with a small frown on my face.
"I don't know but I don't want to deal with a depressed David again. Remember when bonquisha broke up with him he wouldn't stop crying for a week." Max said with a disgusted look on his face.
"Hey, guys where's gwen?" Neil asked with confusion. I couldn't take it any longer I had to tell them.
"I can't take it anymore!" I yelled. Max and Neil both expressed shock in their faces.
"What..?" Neil said.
"I saw Gwen kiss David last night and I can't keep that secret in anymore." I quietly said so no one else would hear. Max's mouth hung open and Neil had a worried look on his face.
"Wait, where is Gwen?" We all looked over and saw David still standing alone.
"Hey David where's Gwen?" I yelled.
"She doesn't work here anymore, she won't be here for the rest of the summer." He sadly said.
"What?!" Everyone gasped. All of us were so confused why was she gone? Where did she go? Max walked up to David and looked at him.
"Are you kidding me! She was one of the only things that kept me sane in this place!" Max screamed.

"Yeah and she helped us with projects for stuff!" Dolph and Preston said.
"Listen Guys she's going away to start a relationship I'm not gonna stop he-" David was cut off by a slap from max.
"No, listen here I know you like her Nikki told us what happened last night." Max said with a smirk on his face. I couldn't believe he just ratted me out. All the campers gave a confused look to max. I hoped he wouldn't tell anyone specificity what happened.
"Max I don't want to ruin something that I'm not evolved in." David looked away and still had a frown on.
"No David! We're gonna find Gwen and get her back! We all miss her and we need her! This camp is nothing without everyone here." Max inspirationally said. David's frown turned to a grin.
"By all means your right max! I'm gonna go get back the love of my life!" He said happily. Everyone gasped at David and Preston was starting to tear up.
"It's jut like my plays!" Preston excitedly said. It was good to see him back to David again.
"Wait, but how are we gonna get to her? I can't just leave you guys here and I can't just go to California." David said putting his finger to his chin. Me and max looked at each other with a smile we were thinking the same thing.
"Come on guys, let's go get the computer." I said starting to walk out the door.
-Max P.O.V-
I walked up to the councilors cabin and went to the computer everyone trailed behind me as I pulled up airplane tickets. I put in a quantity of eleven, David walked up behind and gasped.
"Max I can't take everyone with me!" David said with a fright.
"And why not, our parents think we're at camp they can't do anything if their not around." Max said.
David thought about it for a second and then looked around at all the campers.
"Well if you all behave.." David was cut off by everyone's cheers. David had his hands over his mouth and was tearing up.
"I'm so proud of you guys, alright max buy those tickets!" David cheerfully said. I quickly hit the purchase button and we were set to head out to L.A in California this evening at 7:00 pm.
"Come on guys let's get on the road!" Everyone ran outside and was headed to the car. From here to the airport was a four hour drive so we had to leave now if we wanted to get there in time for the flight. Everyone piled into the car and looked out the window as we pulled out onto the road. Nikki and Neil sat next to me which I didn't mind. In those quick moments I felt bad so I spoke up for once in my life.
"Hey guys I'm sorry for the last couple days." I said feeling guilty.
"It's fine max, but your gonna have to make up and give me something for giving me a bruise." Neil said while he patted his face. We all laughed and excitedly looked out the window. So that was it we were off to get the bitch who kept this place together.

The Elemental Arena
*A Rational-Adjacent litRPG Survival Series.* The time for the trials has come, pitting the mortal species of the galaxy against one another. By completing challenges, clearing dungeons, and defeating rival species, the players may forge themselves stronger and smarter. But only one species will be declared the winner. Earth has finally qualified... ...and participation is mandatory. A twenty-nine year old data entry clerk works together with a group of internationally diverse players to survive. Learning synergistic skills and using teamwork, can humanity achieve an upset? If they don't, their lives are forfeit. Author's note: Chapters will be anywhere from 6k to 10k in words, varying based on the plot beats instead of specific word counts. Realistic actions and teamwork will be important aspects of my story. I'm trying something a little different in writing a realism focused litRPG, hoping to capture the essence of how real people would react to their situation. People are complex and don't always get along. I don't recommend starting the series expecting wish fulfillment tropes just because it's tagged litRPG. It's a survival story with the game settings on Hell difficulty. The plot hasn't gotten there yet, but in the future of the series I want to recreate my nostalgia of forty person raids on Ragnaros, but with the high stakes of boss battles in Sword Art Online. I also love puzzle rooms so expect one of those each book. Warnings: mild PG-rated language, graphic violence and gore, and graphic medical content.
