-Gwen P.O.V-
I woke up with a smile on my face and was looking up at the wooden ceiling. I looked over to the other side of the room to see David asleep still. I got up and got dressed. It was a little chilly not including we didn't have a heater in the cabin so I threw on my purple hoodie. I walked outside and sat down right by the door. I sat criss cross and pulled my hood over my head. I sat like that for a while watching the woods and tents to see if anyone was up. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see David. I motioned to the side of me to sit down. He sat down and looked down at his feet.
"So, did you sleep well?" I asked looking away towards the trees.
"Yeah, really well!" He enthusiastically said.
"Good." I smiled and turned my head towards him he did as well. We stared at each other for a second and he moved close to me. He put his arm around me and I put my head on his shoulder. I moved my head and stared at him he was about to kiss me, and then I remembered. I pulled away and looked down at my boots.
"What's wrong? Are you okay? Did I do something wrong?" He looked down sadly.
"No david it's not you at all! I like you a lot.." I trailed off.
"Then what's wrong?" He asked.
I looked up and faced him.
"I meant to tell you this but I couldn't do it yesterday, I hate it and..." I started tearing up, I knew why this wouldn't work as much as I loved him. He gave me a concerned look, and put his hand on mine I pulled away quickly and was now full on crying.

"I can't be with you! As much as I want to David, it because of my parents and Jordan's mom and dad. They want me to fly out tomorrow to see them and there may be a wedding coming up. But I'm telling you I don't want to!" I was crying and holding on to David. He pulled me in close and comforted me.
"Gwen, we're gonna figure this out don't worry. If anything I'm not letting you go with that guy." He hugged me tighter.
"How are we gonna stop this? I'm still not ready to get married. They even expect me to have kids only like a year after marriage. I don't want to go or deal with a abusive boyfriend I just want to be with you." I sobbed.
"I promise, you can stay here, don't respond to any of their stuff." David said patting me on the shoulder.
"But David it's my family, as much as they bother me. I care about them a lot." I said wiping my tears away, I had finished crying.
"Wait, your kidding me? You would rather be with an abusive soon to be husband to have kids with you and spend the rest of your life with?" He got up and looked out at the sunrise.
"David, What do you want me to do? I can't just drop my family." I said in a annoyed tone.
"But I love you! I don't want you to be unhappy and I want you to be with me." He said irritated.
"Like I said I can't just drop my family, I have to go even though I don't want to , I'm sorry David." I gave him a empathic look. He looked down sadly and walked back into the cabin. I guess I needed to pack my stuff I knew Jordan would be here soon. I walked into the cabin to see David sitting on his bed his back turned.

"So this is it?" He said clearly crying.
"I'm sorry David, I can't turn my back on my family. I'll always love you." I grabbed all my stuff including my number two councilor mug David gave me about 6 years ago. David cried for a while, it was unbearable to hear. Jordan texted me and said he was here.
"David?" I said quietly. He turned around and embraced me. I cried into his shirt and we stood like that for a couple minutes. I walked outside, Jordan was there with a smirk on his face and that was it I was headed off to hell.

Magic caused the war. Magic is forbidden. Magic will save us. The Relic Guild is the award nominated first book in The Relic Guild trilogy. It was said the Labyrinth had once been the great meeting place, a sprawling city at the heart of an endless maze where a million humans hosted the Houses of the Aelfir. But when the Thaumaturgists, overlords of human and Aelfir alike, went to war, everything was ruined and the Labyrinth became an abandoned prison. The surviving humans were trapped behind boundary walls a hundred feet high, and all magic was forbidden. And now the war is returning. The Relic Guild are all that stand against the end of the city. But they are old, scattered and weak, and the enemy is growing in strength...Here in THE RELIC GUILD (and other stories) please enjoy a large chunk of The Relic Guild Trilogy (published with kind permission of my publisher Gollancz), complete short stories, the odd poem, one or two blog posts, and samples chapters from my other novels.
