《"Partners"- Jin ff ✓》5

After a whole night had gone by and Jin and I spent it all awake. We were trying to figure out where this Yang ChiWon is.
We finally came up with an answer. There's a bar in Chinatown with a similar name to the one this man had in Korea. If we find this man we have a big chance to find the gang members and get to the leader.
"Should we go to this place now?"- I asked Jin.
"Sure, but...it's 5a.m. now... let's rest a bit and we'll go in the morning."- Jin told me and I agreed.
"Sure"- I agreed and sat back on the couch to relax a little.
"I'll go make some food, I am hungry, all this thinking made me run out of energy"- he said and got up.
Once he came back, I thought he would actually be decent and made food for me but...that didn't happen
"Wow... that's kind"- I sarcastically said.
"What? You want food?"- he got confused.
"Hum..yes"
"Then why didn't you say it? Do you think I read minds?"
"Well it was quite obvious"- I said
"Well, it wasn't...girls"- he said in a sigh and I rolled my eyes because he was actually right.
"Whatever, I'm going to sleep. We'll wake up at 9?"
"Sure.."
"Goodnight"- I said and went to my room.
"Goodnight"
******
Morning came and as I was on my way to the bathroom I found Jin in the couch asleep.
"Didn't even made the effort to go to the room"- I mumbled going to wake him up.
He was profoundly asleep. He looked peaceful and engaging to the eye now that I'm looking at him with the sunrise light.
His lips are very pretty...his nose is very much like perfection and his skin seems smooth almost unrealistic..

"You could be a model..."- I thought to myself, but quickly shook it to the side- "Jin, wake up, we have to go"- I said.
No response was coming out of him whatsoever so I tried shaking him.
"Jin?...Jin, we need to g-"- he quickly grabbed my hand as he was still half asleep. Right now, he looked troubled in his dream. His eyes, although they were closed, they were squinting more and he felt more nervous. He held tighter to my wrist that it was starting to hurt me.
"Jin? Are you okay?"- I shook him one last time with my free hand and he shot his eyes open looking for air.
"What? What happened?"- he confusedly asked.
"Nothing happened... I was waking you so we could work...is everything okay?"- I asked him honestly worried.
"Yeah... I'm fine..."- he answered me with a troubled expression, but I'm assuming he doesn't want to talk about it so I just let him be.
"I'll go make us breakfast..."- I tried comforting him.
"Hum sure, thanks"- he said but he sure was locked in his own thoughts. I tried getting up but something stopped me. He was still holding my wrist.
"Hum...Jin?"
"Yeah?"- he looked at me. I guess he still hasn't realized.
"Can you let go of me?"- I nicely asked him.
"Oh, yeah, sorry"- he quickly let go of me embarrassed and I headed of to the kitchen feeling uneasy. Is he truly okay?...
*****
After eating and preparing ourselves we immersed on action and went to this bar that supposably would belong to Yang ChiWon.
"Wow... Chinatown.. he's korean"- Jim commented with me as we both stared at the chinese characters that were naming the place.
"If we are right at least.."- I said.

"Let's go inside."- Jin said and I followed him behind.
"Let's not say who we are yet, let's try to get information first"- Jin told me and I agreed.
We entered the building. It looked very deteriorated on the outside, but on the inside the luxury was much noticable. There were LED purple lights in the corridors leading us through it.
The doors were black and very smooth alike, giving them a luxury touch.
There were men coming in and out of the rooms with girls and a smell of licor and beer.
Jin and I were opening all the doors to find our suspect. But this corredor is quite long and there are two more levels to search.
"Be careful"- Jin told me as I kept going with my job ignoring the drunk men.
We were already on the second floor and the process was pretty much the same.
I opened one door in particular and a drink man came outside of it.
"Oh, you're the hooker! You're late sweetheart"- he told me and he grabbed me. As a police officer I was ready to hit him, but Jin was a step ahead of me. Suddenly the drunk man was on the ground and Jin didn't look happy.
"Yah! I told you to be careful!"- he got upset at me.
"I was!"- I claimed back as I knew I was only doing my job.
"Don't let go of me, you hear me?"- he said on the same loud tone he usually has and held my hand. I looked at him on disbelief
"Yah... I can manage it"- I was surprised at his actions. My heart was strangely beating fast.
"Y/N, drunk men are dangerous and I know you are a great cop, but we can't trust these people. So you and I will walk hand in hand while opening these doors, you hear me?"- he made his position very clear. Why is he even acting like this all of the sudden?...
"Great...hand in hand it is"- he said and started walking while holding my hand for us to continue our job assuming my silence meant affirmation.
I kept going with my duty, but something is weird...he never once cared if I was a man or a woman and now all of the sudden he is protecting me from drunk men as if I had never done that before...does this have anything to do with his weird dream this morning?...

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. Our hope lies in three young crafters. The first is William Divus, who sets out from his small village into the Dremshen Kingdom to study crafting after his father's passing. He has just achieved his lifelong dream, but he will soon learn how much he underestimated the fallout from his daring theft. The last is Ki Soru, the niece of a powerful duke. Ten years have passed since her lessons began, leaving the king unsatisfied with the results. Her life is upended when her new teacher arrives, revealing a secret kept from her that changes her whole life. These three are our heroes.
