《"Partners"- Jin ff ✓》4

It has been 3 days and this investigation is already a disaster. Jin and I just sit in a table far away from the rest of the american detectives while letting out loud sighs.
"This sucks...I can't believe I came to the USA for this.."- I commented with Jin since he is the only one I know.
"I know...what you think goes best on me? Baby blue or pink?"- Jin changed the subject. He was so bored that he was online shopping.
"I'm serious!...we should do something about this...if we don't find anything we'll get fired...pink by the way"- I told him.
"I know...if we could steal that little board of leads of theirs...at least look at it, they don't even let us...but don't you think this baby blue shirt is cooler?"- he told me.
"Right...oh! What if we hide and stay here after hours after they leave to gather information?...yeah, but I think pink goes well with your skin tone"- I answered him
"What about the security man? Isn't he going to tell on us?...you think baby pink suits me? Don't go there everything suits me"
"Forget the shirt! Really, we can do this. We were literally trained to hide and come out in at the right time. We can manage a security guard."- I debated with Jin
"Come out at the right time, makes it sound like we are coming out of the closet"- he mocked me.
"Seriously?..."
"Fine, I'm joking. Let's do this!"- he got up in excitement.
"Ssshhh! Sit down"- I smiled at his excitement that made everyone look at us, not knowing what's coming for them.
*****
Night eventually came and Jin and I hid in a closet that was serving as our locker.
We were really close and I couldn't help it but to be glued to his chest. I swear I could feel his heartbeat accelerated.
He clearly felt embarrassed and cleared his throat.
"Are you nervous by being this close to a girl?"- I mocked him in a whisper. So no one would hear us.

"Pff, yeah, right"- he tried playing it off which made me want to mock him more.
"Really?"- I got even closer to him to mock him since that's what we do, but his heart actually slowed down. I was quite disappointed that I couldn't make fun of him.
"Don't listen too close...the best heart can hide the worst pain..."- he casually told me looking away from me and I frowned. Is he okay?...
My thoughts were interrupted once we noticed through the little gaps of metal that the lights turned off. We waited 5 minutes and then slowly opened the door and peaked to be sure nobody was there. After that we finally got out.
When the door opened we were catching breaths because it was hard to share and breath in such a small place along with another person.
"Such a small person shouldn't breath that much"- he said as we are back to our normality
"You shouldn't breath at all"- I defended myself and he mocked my words, making me role my eyes.
I moved myself to the board where all the leads with photos and names would be and Jin followed me behind.
"They don't have much more than we did..."-I commented.
"Yeah... they literally made no progress in these three days..."- Jin said.
"Oh wait...this man... Yang ChiWon... doesn't he look familiar to you?"- I wondered.
"Hm...not sure...the name is definitely new..."
"Wait, I'm going to ask Yoongi to look for the name in the Korean database"- I said taking my phone out to text Yoongi that is in Korea.
"Wait...did you hear that?"- Jin asked me.
"Hear what?"- I was focused on my phone.
"Are you-"- he didn't finish his sentence since I lifted my head up to look at him with big eyes realizing there were steps coming in.
"Shoot"- I mumbled and Jin grabbed my wrist so I would quickly follow him to the locker again, but the footsteps were coming from that direction, so naturally we had to move to the opposite side.

We ended up behind a desk.
The footsteps were coming closer and closer and Jin and I were distressed not knowing what to do. We are literally hiding.... that itself makes us suspicious.
"What do we do now?"- I asked him out of ideas as I'm way too close to him in that small place.
"Quick, ruffle your hair"- he told me in a whisper.
"What-"
Before I could ask, he had his hands on my hair messing it up and did the same to his. I was confused. Then, he smudged my lipstick and rubbed the color that stained his fingers on his owns lips. He started open his shirt more, but the flashlight is coming closer and we are a second away from being discovered.
"What are you doing?"- I was way too confused and stressed to play around. Then, out of a sudden move, he grabbed my waist to pull me closer and put his other hand on my hair. My breath was crossing his at this point.
"Pretend you are enjoying it"- he said and at that exact moment a light shined on us. Yet, for my surprise, Jin was kissing my cheek... close enough to my lips to make it look like we were having some kind of fun. I realized immediately what he was doing.
"Hum hum"- the security cleared his throat to interrupt our supposably hired moment.
"Oh, officer, sorry"- Jin played along with this character.
"Hum...who are you?"- he asked us. Jin moved and signalled me to get up with him.
"I'm Jin, this is Y/N, korean detectives"- he spoke his best english with a Korean accent.
"Oh, you came here to help with the case you failed"- the man casually reminded us. - "Hum...you shouldn't be doing these things in the office"- the guard told us.
"Oh, hum...house is far...horny is close"- Jin tried being understandable.
"Oh, I see, I get you, a man is a man, we can't always hold it back as savage animals we are"- the guard said with a smile proudly.
"Animals you sure are"- I mumbled in korean annoyed by his sexist comment.
Jin hit my arm and I rolled my eyes.
"Yes, you know how it is"- Jin kept the conversation.
"Okay, I'll let you be"- the guard winked at us and left, but quickly stopped for another question -"hum, you're sure you were not looking into this case, right? Miss Sullivan made it very clear she doesn't want you in this investigation"- he refered to the blonde and idiot detective
Jin and I looked at each other afraid we would get caught and started laughing while babling.
"Ahahaha, work, pfff as if"
"AHAHAHA worldwide funny guy!"
"Ahaha, right, who works at this hour..anyways have fun and..be responsible... I'll close the door for you"- he innocently smiled in belief and left nicely.
We moved ourselves once again to the suspect board and we looked at it just one more time. I checked my phone to see if Yoongi had responded.
"Yoongi says there's no such name in our files back in korea"- I shared with Jin.
"Yang ChiWon...his face is so familiar..."- Jin said as he was looking at one of the files that were on top of one of the tables trying to find information.
"oh! I remember! In Korea this man went by the name of BeomSeok"- I had a strange epiphany.
"BeomSeok?...oh! This was the man that allowed the drug trades and gang business in his bar! He was the key for the whole gang"- Jin said.
"Exactly! Do we have any information if he has a bar here in the US?"- I asked him since he was the one holding the file.
"Nop...just his name and fake information...but being an international gang, I'm pretty sure the man does have a bar here." - Jin pointed the obvious.
"But how will we find out?"- I asked him.
"Well, now we pretend we are actually smart and try to figure it out"- he said and we both looked at the board once again thinking of how hard it will be to this on our own

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!
