Isabel's POV:
I ran through the bushes and did not dare look behind me. I placed my hand on my collar bone and winced at the pain from the slit that was dripping blood. I ran as fast as I could down the street when suddenly my leg gave out. I quickly attempted to get back up but miserably failed.
"Shit!" I cried.
I must have twisted my ankle. I looked around to see if anyone was near. I made eye contact with someone who was looking out their window. I quickly stood up and hopped on one leg to their door. I began knocking rapidly for them to open up.
"Please I know you saw me just help me please-"
The door swung open. There Emory stood before me. Her eyes were puffy and red. She had a massive red spot on her cheek. My heart dropped at the sight.
She looked worried
"I'm sorry I can't help you. Please leave you cannot be here right now."
I looked at her in disbelief
"No no you don't understand these people they-"
She scoffed
"Leave now before!-"
Heavy footsteps came down the stairs. Emory quickly looked behind her.
"Just fuck off Isabel!" She shoved me away from her doorstep and shut the door.

I limped as I reached the front door. I fell to my knees and cried. The door slowly opened.
"Isa..? what the hell happened to you?" Joseph picked me up and hugged me
We stepped inside. He sat me down and brought over a warm rag. He cleaned my wounds as I shed a tear and he wiped it away. I gave him a soft smile.
I explained to him what had happened and he immediately told me we should call the police but I was scared they might do something worse if they found out. I didn't want to put my family at risk if things got out of hand so I agreed.

My mother came downstairs and yelped when she saw my condition.
"Santa maria! Hija what happened to you?!"
I explained for the 100th time what went on at the park. My mom told me to stand but I could not support my weight on my left ankle. She noticed this
"We're going to the doctors now" She grabbed her keys and her purse and we were out the door.
