《You're Bittersweet (on hold)》Chapter 13

I arrived at school the following Monday with my new crutches. Everyone stared as I walked through the hallways. I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me as the people around me laughed at me.
I sat down and took out my work. People kept staring as if they've never seen someone have an injury before. I expected Emory to walk in late but she never showed up. Part of me wanted her to be here today so that we could talk about what happened. I mean I guess I felt safer in her presence maybe? I still can't comprehend why she made me leave. I want to know why she was crying. I hope she is okay.
First period passed by very quickly. I walked out of class and bumped into Marcus. He snickered at my presence.
"Here let me help you" He softly smiled
He grabbed my bag and slung it over his shoulder.
"How was your weekend?" He looked at me as we walked to class.
Was he completly oblivious to the situation?
"It was bad" I chuckled
"Hey listen I know we haven't hung out in a while and I wanna make it up to you"
"Would you want to hangout later?" He had hope written over his face
I nodded. He made a cheeky smile which caused me to smile.
--------------------------------
I arrived to third period and sat down at my desk. I went and grabbed a pencil and came back to see my bag gone. I panicked at the thought of someone stealing it.
I looked at the girl beside my desk
"Hey have you seen my bag anywhere?"
She looked at me and pointed at a boy from my class. Dierdré of course. He's a nice guy but he's a bit too full of himself.

I walked over to him.
"Dierdré I need my bag" I looked at him
"Damn who snitched? Next time have some snacks in there for me" He laughed.
I chuckled and took my bag. I turned and walked over to my chair and stopped. There she was sitting in my chair. She had knocked over my text book and papers onto the floor. I furrowed my eyebrows. I approached her carefully.
"What the hell Emory..." I said cautiously
She didn't look at me. I closely examined her. Her lip was cut and her eye had a dark purple ring around it. What the hell is happening to her.
'She probably got into another fight' I thought to myself
I picked up my things and put them back on my desk. She swiped her arm across the desk and knocked everything over again. I sighed. I was angry but I didn't have the time for this right now.
I grabbed my things and sat next to Dierdré for the rest of class. I ocasionally glanced her way but she never looked my way.
---------------------------------------------
I sat on my bed waiting for a text back from Marcus to see when we could meet up. I walked up to my mirror and fixed my jeans and cuffed them.
"Where are you going looking so hot?" Marcus spoke from my doorway
I jumped at his sudden appearance
"You were supposed to text me when you were on your way." I gave him a hug
"Yeah but it wouldn't have been a surprise" We laughed
He gave me a small kiss and pushed me down on my bed.
"I brought you something" He pulled a small box from behind his back.
I sat up and took the box. I opened it to see a necklace inside. It was a thin gold chain.

"Oh hey you shouldn't have" I gave him a small kiss on the cheek
"Thats just the first part of the gift" He smirked
"There's a second part?" I asked
He nodded
----------------------------
We came back from eating and all I wanted to do was take a nap. We went upstairs to my room. He quietly trailed behind me trying to not wake my family.
We cuddled and watched some tv which was nice. I haven't been having a good day but this totally made up for it.
His phone buzzed and his screen lit up. I glanced at who could've messaged him. There was no name only the letter S. Probably his streaks.
I noticed his lock screen wasn't the picture of us kissing in the library. I was a bit hurt by this but I brushed it off.
It began getting dark out so we decided to call it a night.
"I'll give you the second part of your gift next time" He said
We kissed goodbye and he went home.
