《Believing In Fairytales》Chapter Two: Girls Night

"You should go to the party." Emma says over the speaker on my car.

"You know I'm not a party person and I will only know Mary and David." I say as I drive my car into the parking lot of Target.

"I'll go as your date if that'll help. I did just buy a new dress and I would love to wear it."

"Maybe." I say as I swing my car into a parking spot.

"I'm dragging you to the party whether you like it or not." Emma yells at me.

"Whatever, do you want lasagna tonight?"

"Why would you even ask me that? Of course I want lasagna. I love our girls night. And get the good wine!"

"Okay, I'll see you later."

"Bye Reg." She says and I hang up.

I take my keys out of the ignition and grab my purse. I get out the car and head towards the door. I walk in and smell the Starbucks coffee that I know I don't need but I desperately want. I walk over to the Starbucks section of Target and wait in the surprisingly short line. I just ordered a caramel macchiato and I am ready to start shopping.

I'm not even sure exactly what I need. I guess I'll just walk around and grab whatever. My thoughtless walking around led me down the junk food aisle. I stride down the empty aisle and look over all the different types of snacks. There it was, my greatest weakness on the very top shelf. I just don't understand why they have to place the creamy goodness of Oreos on the top shelf.

I curse myself for wearing flats as I stand on my tip toes to reach the shelf. Unfortunately my hand does't quite reach it and I am mentally having a psychotic episode. An unknown hand comes from my right and easily grabs the package of Red Velvet Oreos.

"Thank you." I say as I turn around to the face of the kind stranger. "Oh, hi Robin. It's nice to see you."

"Likewise Regina. I'll see you later." He say as he hands me my prized snack and walks away. As he walks away his toned arm muscles can be clearly seen through his shirt. God, he is completely in shape and his ass is firm. Wait, what? I can't believe that I'm drooling over a guy I just met.

"I was also thinking if you would like to go out sometime." He says after he walked back to me.

"Uh, sure that would be nice." I say while trying not to look too excited to go on a 'date' with this absolutely handsome guy. Great, I'm drooling again.

"You can meet me at the office on Saturday after five. If that's okay with you?"

"Oh, of course that is completely fine. I'll see you then." I turn around to place my snacks in the cart. I dumbly bump into the cart and hurt my rib.

"I'll see you later." Robin says with a laugh and he walks away. I instantly blush and curse myself profusely in my head.

"You have a date?" Emma asks as she sips on her third glass of wine.

"Why is that so hard to believe? Why can't I have a date?" I ask as I smooth out the wrinkles on my bed. Emma came over about a hour ago and we had dinner and are now watching television in my bedroom.

"You're suppose to my single friend that I can complain to at any hour of the day. I need you to be available so I can bother you with my petty problems." She retorts as she sips her wine again.

"You're such an ass and I hate you." I say as I turn my attention to my television.

"I love you too." Emma says with a smirk and she casually drapes an arm over my shoulder. "I hope you and this Robin guy get along. It would be a shame for someone so hot to be a complete jerk."

"I think he's a nice guy and he is the definition of eye candy. I'm actually pretty nervous for this so called date. What if he doesn't like me or what if I make a complete fool of myself?"

"Relax, he will love you. If you make a fool of yourself and he still likes you then you're lucky to find someone to accept your klutzy ways."

"You accept my ways."

"I live with them." She says and I laugh as I jab her in the rib with my elbow. "Anyways, where are you going and what will you wear?"

"I don't know so I'll dress casual. It's not fancy or anything."

"Show off your boobs, they are one of the only things going for you."

"Noted." I say and then my phone goes off. I reach over Emma to grab my phone. It was a text from David.

Why are you going out with Robin? I told you to stay away!

I'm not a five year old so just leave me alone. I'll try not to ruin your work experience.

I throw my phone on the bed next to me. Emma gives me a look and I ignore her. Seconds later my phone rings again. With a groan I reach for it again.

If you guys end up dating he better not hurt you.

I would kill him.

Just reading the text made me laugh. Again Emma gives me a strange look but soon turns her attention to a bag of chips.

I feel honored that you would kill your boss for me. You're like the protective older brother I never wanted.

Wait, how do you know about the date?

He asked for your number. I assume you'll get a text soon.

"Can you stop texting David for like five minutes? And tell him that he owes me money!" Em says with a mouthful of chips.

Gotta go the royal pain in the ass is being needy.

Just poison her with an apple. The notorious Evil Queen doesn't back down this quickly.

Oh, shut it Charming!

With that last text the conversation was finally over. Emma decided to watch reruns of American Horror Story on Netflix. While watching the show she babbles on about some rubbish nonsense.

"Shh, this is my favorite part. I love when she scoops out the eyeballs with a melon baller!" I squeal as I stare at the television.

"At this rate you'll be single forever." Emma mumbles under her breath.

"And you'll be a soccer mom with a mini van." Emma immediately cringed at the thought and I laughed at her.

"The truth hurts." Emma starts to say but is interrupted by my phone yet again. "You're not allowed to have any other friends besides me and I feel very offended."

"You know you're not just a friend. You're like a sister to me and I'll love you." I say as I grab my phone again.

"You're so good to me." Emma says as she lays her big head on my shoulder. I don't pay her any attention as I check my phone

Hey Regina it's Robin. I just wanted to tell you that there is a change in plans.

Hi Robin. What's the new plan?

I would like to take you to lunch tomorrow instead. Only if it's okay with you.

"Emma what should I say?" I say as I move my phone so she could see.

"You should say that you're really excited to get into his pants." Emma says with her usual sarcasm in her voice. I pushed her off my shoulder and she hit her head on the headboard. She says 'Ow!' and I erupt in laughter as she clutches her head in her hands.

"That's what you get. On a serious note what should I say?" I say as I stop laughing.

"You should accept. Don't be too excited or too casual."

Lunch will be lovely. I'll give you my address in the morning. I can't wait to see you then.

I can't wait to see your beautiful smile. Goodnight Regina.

Goodnight

"So, what made you all smiley?"

"He said I have beautiful smile and that he can't wait to see me."

"I feel bad for the guy." Emma says and I give her a questioning look which she understands and starts to explain further. "He'll just fall for you and then you'll be stupid and push him away. Just because some of your past relationships ended badly doesn't mean that this one will."

"I won't do that, not this time anyway." I say and a small frown crosses my face as I think about my past relationships.

"I also feel bad for him because he'll have to deal with me all the time. We are a package deal and if you guys are ever to work then he'll have to put up with my annoying ass."

"You are a hundred percent not lying." I say with a small laugh.

There it again, that blaring noise that interrupts me from my gloriously sweet sleep. My hand swiftly moves to turn off my pest of an alarm clock. I roll over and I am greeted with a bird's nest of curly blonde hair. I push Emma's hair out of my face and stare at her. She was in her usual sleeping position: face buried in my pillow, hair all around her head, arms sprawled out covering most of my bed and a lovely trail of slob on my satin pillow.

I roll back over and get up from my bed. I walk over to the balcony across from my bed and open the curtains. The sun doesn't take its time to fill the room and it completely blinds me and burns my corneas. I look at the view of New York City through the spaces of my fingers that are currently shielding my eyes.

I walk away from the sliding doors of the balcony and walk into my bathroom. I walk past my mirror not trying to see my hair and walk into the shower. After I took my clothes off I turned the water on. The hot and steaming water spewed down from the shower novel. The calming water instantly relaxes me as it washes everything away.

After my shower I got dressed and tried to keep everything casual. I'm wearing a blue sundress with my favorite black sandals and matching cardigan. I don't even bother to do any make up and I leave my hair in its natural waves. I walk back into my room to see Emma still asleep. An evil thought comes in to mind as to how to wake her up.

I walk out the room and head to the kitchen. I grab a large glass and fill it with ice. I walk back into my room and tip toe over to her side. She looks so peaceful, too bad I'm going to ruin that. I lift up her shirt and dump the ice cubes inside. She doesn't respond at first but then she wakes with a start. She jumps up from the bed and dances around like a monkey.

"What the hell?" She yells as she tries to get the ice out her shirt. Meanwhile I collapsed on the floor in the process of yelling at her. She simply curses under her breath as she shakes out each ice cube.

"You're gonna pay for this Reg." She says as she stalks into the bathroom in her wet pajamas.

"What do you want your highness?" I say while trying to keep the laughter inside me.

"Apple turnovers!" She yells and slams the door behind her. All throughout this I'm dying of laughter.

The doorbell rings and my joy is interrupted. I get up from the floor and adjust my dress. That can't be Robin it's not even noon yet. I walk past the guest room and the living room. I casually swing the door open and see someone I wasn't expecting.

"Oh, it's you." I say with all the disappointment in my voice.

"You should be glad to see me I'm your mother!" She says as she pushes me aside and walks into my apartment.

"The complete opposite in fact." I say to myself and gently close the door behind me.
