(Y/n)'s POV 

I don't waste my time by waiting outside the Maze for Minho, Thomas, and Alby. I know better than to think they'll be there, no one makes it out of the maze. When those doors closed that's it and although I want it to be different this time it won't be. Gally isn't here when I wake up, and I'm not shocked by that fact. He'll want to be chosen as Newt's second in command, and he's more than likely to be chosen too. 

I lay in bed a lot longer than I should until I hear shouts of glee, and shock overtakes me as I exit the homestead. I run over like everyone else who wasn't already gathered at the maze opening to see the three guys. When I get over there, murmurs are already flooding through the crowd of Thomas killing a griever. I look down at Alby and smirk at the revelation, good. I'd love the opportunity to take out the anger of every friend I've lost. 

Gally goes over to Newt "I think we need to hold a meeting," he suggests eyes flickering to Thomas with malice lacing his words. Gally was never one for change and everyone follows to the homestead for the meeting as Clint and Jeff bring Alby to the Medjack hut. No one will banish Alby, they'd never forgive themselves. 

"Things are changing, there's no denying that. Now our greenie here has taken it upon himself to go into the maze. Which is in clear violation of our rules here," Gally says gesturing to Thomas who is basically on trial "Yeah, but he saved Alby's life," Fry interjects "Did he? For three years we have coexisted with these things. Do you've killed one of them, there's no telling what that means for us, this shank needs to be punished" Gally says to us waiting for a correction.

Many of the gladers begin to argue in a mumble of lost words in Thomas's defense. "That doesn't mean anything bad is going to happen. Honestly, Thomas did what almost everyone here wishes they could have done. He doesn't deserve to be punished!" I say causing Gally and me to lock eyes in an angry glare both of our strong wills fighting to win. 

"Minho, what do you think? You were in there with him," Newt asks causing the room to go silent as eyes turn to Minho. "I don't know if he's brave or stupid, but I think whatever it is we need more of it. When I turned tail and ran this dumb shank stuck around to help Alby. I say we make him a runner," Minho states shocking even me, but if Minho thinks Thomas could be a good runner then I don't doubt him. 

"Minho! Let's not jump the gun here!" Fry says Chuck begins chanting Thomas's name trying to rally Thomas to become a runner. "If you want to throw the Newbie a parade then that's fine, but if there's one thing I know about the Maze it's that-" Gally starts but is cut off when the alarm for the box begins to go off across the Maze. 

I share a glance with Gally before we head off to investigate. This should not be happening I think, and begin to wonder if I was wrong and Thomas shouldn't have killed the griever.
