《Trust Me (Daryl Dixon x OC)》{13}

We had just found out Jim was bit and he didn't tell anyone till Jacqui said something about it. The group stood in a circle away from Jim trying to decide what to do with him.
"I say we put a pickaxe in his head and the dead girl's and be done with it." Daryl said I sighed and put all my weight on one leg.
"Do you ever think about the metal damage your ideas can cause?" I said looking at him, he just huffed.
"Is that what you'd want if it were you?" Shane asked
"Yeah, and I'd thank you while you did it." Daryl told Shane.
"You are just un-fucking-believable." I said with sarcasm in my voice shaking my head.
"Yeah, you got a problem with it girl." He said with some slight anger in his voice.
"Yeah, I fucking do." I yelled in his face. That was till someone pulled my arm.
"Raven not now." Shane said and pulled me to stand by him.
"I hate to say it...I never thought I would...but maybe Daryl's right." Dale said, looking at everyone.
"Dale really?" I asked him if the rest of the group seemed equally surprised.
"Jim's not a monster, Dale, or some rabid dog." Rick said, taking in what Dale said.
"I'm not suggesting."
"He's sick. A sick man." Rick said, cutting Dale off.
"We start down that road, where do we draw the line?" Rick said, getting frustrated.
"The line's pretty clear. Zero tolerance for walkers, or them to be." Daryl said.
"Look yeah we have no tolerance for walkers but we don't kill living breathing people, Daryl." I said yelling at him.
"What if we can get him help?" Rick said, looking at the group.
"I heard the C.D.C was working on a cure."
"I heard that too. Heard a lot of things before the world went to hell." Shane said in response.
"Yeah that was actually the only way they would let me come back home was to work security for the CDC. Didn't make it though." I said sighing leaning into Shane he placed his arm around my shoulder.
"What if the C.D.C's still up and running?" Rick suggested.
"Man, that is a stretch right there." Shane said
"Why? If there's any government left, any structure at all, they'd protect the C.D.C at all costs, wouldn't they?" Rick said and the last part he said towards me.
"Look Rick if there was anything of the sort like that then do you really think I would be here?"
"But what if." Rick said to me and I shook my head.
"I think it's our best shot. Shelter, protection, rescue." Rick went on but Shane cut him off.
"Okay, Rick, you want those things, all right? I do too, okay? Now if they exist, they're at the army base. Fort Benning." Shane said to us all.
"Shane that's 100 miles in the opposite direction." Lori said,
"That's right. But it's away from the hot zone. Now listen to me. If that place is operational, it'll be heavily armed. We'd be safe there." Shane finished.
"The military were on the front lines of this thing. They got overrun. We've all seen that. The C.D.C's our best choice and Jim's only chance." Rick said in response. We all looked over and saw Jim just staring at all of us. He looked like shit to be quite honest.

"You go looking for aspirin, do what you need to do. Someone needs to have some balls to take care of this damn problem!" Rick pulled out his gun and aimed it at Daryl's head as he ran to drive his pickaxe through Jim's head.
"Hey Hey Hey!" Rick yelled at Daryl.
"We don't kill the living!" I yelled at Daryl standing between him and Jim with Shane right by my side.
"Oh yeah what about Ed?" Daryl said to me.
"We. Don't. Kill. The living." Rick said again.
"That's funny coming from a man who just put a gun to my head. Again." Daryl said, turning to face Rick.
"We may disagree on some things, not on this. You put it down." Shane directed at Daryl who turned out to look at him and I.
"Drop it Daryl." I said and Daryl huffed, throwing the pickaxe to the floor.
"Rick. Get Jim out of here." I said walking past Rick. He nodded at me and walked over and grabbed Jim.
"Come with me."
"Where are you taking me?" Jim said as Rick pulled him to his feet walking off.
"Somewhere safe." Rick said as they walked off.
I watched as Dale walked over to Andrea and Amy. He was like a father to them at least that's what it seemed. Everyone was slowly packing up their stuff to get ready and move onto wherever we were off to next. I watched as Andrea slowly pulled out a small package with something shiny in it. I was keeping my eye on Amy waiting for her to get up and start ripping into Andrea. I wasn't sure if Andrea would be strong enough to do what had to be done. I heard Daryl putting his pickaxe into the dead peoples heads that we were going to bury where Jim was digging.
"I'll do it, he was my husband." I heard Carol say I turned to see Daryl handing her the pickaxe. She was crying not hard but there were visible tear streaks down her face. She took one big swing bringing it down on Ed's head. Then it was one after another and another as she kept swinging. I knew she was taking out every beating that Ed had ever given her onto him. His face was basically unrecognizable as Carol was basically whaling at that point. I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her.
"Shh. Hey it's okay come on." I pulled her away from Ed's mangled body and I sat her down by the fire giving her some water.
"Thank you Raven." She said with a hoarse voice. I nodded to her and walked back over to the bodies wrapping them with sheets.
"I can feel you staring." I said knowing Daryl was burning holes into the back of my skull.
"You're a pain in the ass." He said and I just kinda ignored him. I walked alway trying to find more sheets when I noticed Amy move out of the corner of my eye. I walked over next to Shane.
"Hey look." I whispered to him pointing at Amy. Shane walked over to Rick and pointed at Amy. Soon the whole group was watching as Amy was coming back to life. Andrea held her sister close as she opened her eyes. Amy reached out for Andrea touching her face.

"Amy. Amy I'm sorry '' We all heard Andrea say to Amy. Amy reached up and touched Andrea's face, we all just stood by and watched. I had my hand over my hand gun just in case Andrea couldn't do it.
"I'm sorry for not ever being there. I always thought there'd be more time." Amy grabbed onto Andrea's hair and pulled herself up trying to take a bit out of her. But Andrea was smart enough to keep Amy at a distance.
"I'm here now, Amy. I'm here." We could all now hear Amy's audible growls. I saw Andrea reach down and grab her gun.
"I love you." Andrea said putting the gun to Amy's head and pulling the trigger. The gunshot shook us all to the very core.
I pulled a sheet out and helped Andrea wrap up Amy. She was silent but I could see the tears falling down her face. I helped the guys load up the bodies we were taking to bury into Daryl's truck. Shane, Rick, and I went up before everyone else to make the holes a bit deeper and bigger for all the bodies.
"Say it." Rick said to Shane. Killing our silence
"Okay. I'm thinking if you'd have stayed here, if you'd have looked after your own...instead you went off. You took half our manpower with you." I stopped digging looking over at my boys who were close to fighting each other.
"I'm thinking maybe our losses wouldn't have been so bad." Shane finished.
"Shane, you have no right to blame him for this. It's not his fault Rick couldn't have seen this coming." I said looking over at Shane wiping my forehead of the beaded sweat.
"If we hadn't gone off and brought those guns back when we did, I think our losses would have been a lot worse. Maybe the entire camp." Rick says, defending himself to Shane.
"Guys, stop this. It's no one's fault. We stopped it while we could, saved who we could, now enough." I said yelling at both of them now.
"Fuck off Raven."
"Mind your own." Rick and Shane said to me. It hit me like a truck. I took a visible step back from them as I heard Daryl's truck come up the pathway. I quickly whipped away my visible tears.
"I still think it's a mistake not burning these bodies. It's what we said we'd do, right? Burn 'em all, wasn't that the idea?" Daryl said, walking to grab another shovel to help with the holes.
"At first." Shane said, finishing off another hole.
"The chinaman gets all emotional, says it's not the thing to do, we just follow him along." Daryl said just standing by.
"These people need to know who the hell's in charge here, what the rules are." Daryl finished looking over at Rick.
"There are no rules." Rick said putting his shovel into a mound of dirt.
"Well, that's a problem." Lori said walking from next to the truck.
"We haven't had one minute to hold onto anything of our old selves. We need time to mourn and we need to bury our dead. It's what people do." Lori finished walking over to the bodies. We all pulled out bodies and laid them in the holes and covered them with dirt. We were down to our last body and it was Amy. Andrea was determined to bury her by herself. Without anyone's help. I stood away from the group a little further than everyone else. After what Rick and Shane said and feeling already unwanted. I didn't want to get into anyone's way. Dale was trying to help Andrea lay Amy down gently. We finished burying her and walked back to camp.
I let everyone go ahead of me except for Daryl who had to drive his truck back.
"Hey want a ride?" I shrugged and nodded. I got into the back of the truck and sat with my knees pulled to my chest as we drove back to the camp. I knew Rick was blaming himself for the deaths and Shane was blaming Rick for all the deaths. When deep down we all knew it wasn't anyone's fault per-say. Lori I knew she blamed them both. We all needed somewhere else to go. We weren't safe here anymore and we knew it. Rick's idea to go to the C.D.C wasn't a bad idea.
When we got back we noticed that Jim was getting worse and we all knew it. Rick went into the RV to check up on Jim. I made sure everything I had was packed up and ready to go. I was leaving with or without them. I saw Lori and Carol walk out of the RV and headed to the water we had left. I sighed and cleaned up my guns.
"Hey, Raven." Shane said walking over.
"What'd you want." I said not looking at him.
"I wanted to say sorry." I scoffed at him
"Yeah sure whatever." I said I was still hurt and pissed off over what him and Rick had said to me. They knew how sensitive I was about not being accepted and such but, that didn't stop them from hurting me.
"Look, Shane. I'm done. I don't need you or Rick. Or anyone for that matter. I did better alone and I did better when I though you and all of them were fucking dead!" I yelled at him. I put all my stuff in my and walked away from him. I needed to get out of this shit show. That was till I saw Daryl standing at the back of my truck.
"What?" I said to him.
"Nothing. You're one tough chick." He said to me.
"Yeah well in this world and in the world before this it's what you have to do to survive." I said running my fingers through my hair. Daryl nodded,
"Wanna head down to the quarry to get away from here for a bit?" He asked me as he chewed on the side of his thumb.
"Sure." I said and we walked down to the quarry.

Path of Boundless Adventure
When Mana flooded back to Earth after billions of years, most felt lost in the new world. Some managed to adapt. For Michael, he felt like he'd finally found his path. Follow him as he fights monsters, explores new lands and most of all, seeks adventure. This is my first novel, never written anything before, so please be kind and patient with me, I'm doing my best. A more light-hearted post-apocalyptic novel with large amounts of game elements. MC has a unique advantage but is not massively overpowered and there's more of a focus on exploring and discovering new things rather than defeating a series of arch-nemesis' or building an empire.
