《Trust Me (Daryl Dixon x OC)》{12}

After the attack last night I had a hard time sleeping. I went down to the quarry, took a bath and changed clothes. I pulled on a long sleeve black bodysuit and my green camouflage skinny cargo pants. I followed up with my boots and my usual weapons. I pulled out a cigarette and lit it. It had to be 4 or 5 in the morning.
"Hey." I looked up to see Daryl
''Hey." I said looking off into the distance.
"You got another one of those?" Daryl said pointing to my cigarette.
"Yeah." I pulled the pack out of my pocket and handed it to him. He pulled one out and put it between his lips. The moon was still out and it was shining off Daryl's features perfectly. I could see his defined muscles and his bright blue eyes. It was oddly perfect, another moment great if I had a damn camera. He was perfect.
"You got a starin' problem?" I shook my head.
"No. I mean I could stare at you, not too bad to look at." I said with a flirty voice. I saw a blush creep across his face.
"Yeah, whatever." He said handing me my cigarettes.
"What're ya doin' up?"
"Couldn't sleep. You?"
"Couldn't sleep either." We sat there in silence.
"So where's your brother?"
"Don't know. Found his hand on a roof. He cut it off." I chuckled.
"Yeah, he seems like a badass."
"He is. Toughest son of a bitch I know."
"He's an asshole. Didn't know me more than 5 minutes before he was trying to fuck me." Daryl laughed
"Yeah that's my brother. Sorry 'bout that."
"Not your fault. Sorry we left him on that roof." He sighed,
"Ain't your fault." We sat there till we saw the sunrise.
"Better get ready to bury some bodies." I said getting up and walking into camp.
"Hey Raven hold up." I stopped and shifted all my weight on one leg.
"What's up, Daryl?" I asked
"I noticed you don't really seem to fit in here. What's up with that? I thought you were Shane's sister." I sighed.
"Look I don't fit in, never have. I was adopted by Shane's parents and even then I didn't fit in. Shane and I never really saw each other as siblings just pretended for our parents sake. Then Rick came into our lives and we were the three musketeers but this one still didn't fit in. I spent all of school being bullied and before I was adopted I was beaten constantly by my birth parents. Dad would throw bottles at me. My mom would burn me with cigarettes and anything else she could. Then I started dating dirtbags who told me they loved me but they would beat me and tell me that's what love really is. And then I went into the military. I was kidnapped on my first tour in Iraq. They tortured me everyday. Cut me, shot me, broke my bones, raped me. Then I came home and I was more broken than before but I couldn't stay here in my apartment all alone. So I left again, this time to Afghanistan and I was leader of a caravan. We were supposed to be safe completely out of harm's way but we were attacked and I was the only one to walk away. I watched kids die in my arms. I came home and left again right after Carl was born back to Iraq. I was captured again, nothing I hadn't experienced before. I was the toughest out there. 463 confirmed sniper kills and I was still as broken as ever. Then I came home and saw my nephew, Carl, who knew who I was and loved me. But I had to leave again right back to Afghanistan. They needed me and I chose my county over my family. I came home as a surprise and all I got was this hell hole of a world. I've been alone all my fucking life. I don't need anyone and I don't want to be needed by anyone." I hadn't realized but, I just spilled my entire life to a man I just met 2 days ago. I was crying from sadness and anger.

"Raven...I..I'm so sorry." That's all Daryl said. I scoffed and walked back to my truck and sighed.
I cleaned up my knuckles and then just like that everyone was awake cleaning up the bodies. Rick had disappeared. No one knew where but I knew he would be back. Andrea was still with Amy. She wouldn't let anyone touch her. Hell she wouldn't move. Lori went over to her to try and talk some sense into her. It didn't seem to be working. Daryl was driving a pick ax through all the dead bodies' heads. Those that didn't already have a bullet in their brain. I picked up a body and Glenn grabbed the other end.
"Ugh this is gross." I said to Glenn.
"Hey you're lucky you don't got the top part." I laughed at him. We had made a pile for the walkers and one for the people that were in our group. Rick finally came back to the group. He walked over to Dale.
"She still won't move?" He asked Dale as he shook his head.
"She won't even talk to us. She's been there all night. What do we do?" Lori said. I could kinda hear the conversation over the sound of burning bodies and Daryl driving his pick ax through skulls.
"Can't just leave Amy like that." Shane said looking over at them trying to decide what to do.
"We need to deal with it the same as the others." Shane could be so heartless sometimes but, it was just to protect people. Rick nodded
"I'll tell her how it is." He said and made his way over to Andrea.
"Andrea." Rick said and he went to kneel down next to her but instead she cocked her gun and pointed in Rick's face.
"I know how the safety works." She said with her gun still on him.
"All right. Okay." He said slowly backing away from her. All he could say was that he was sorry. It wasn't his fault but he felt like it was. She lowered her gun and went back to her sister. Rick walked back over to the rest of us who were sitting by the campfire.
"Y'all can't be serious. Let that girl hamstring us? The dead girl's a time bomb." Daryl said, gesturing to Amy.
"Hey have some fucking respect." I said to him. In the 3 day's I was there Andrea,Amy, Dale, and Daryl were the only ones that really bothered to talk to me much.
"What do you suggest?" Rick asked, looking at Daryl.
"Take the shot. Clean, in the brain from here. Hell, I can hit a turkey between the eyes from this distance." Daryl said, responding to Rick's question.

"No. For god's sakes, let her be." Lori chimed in. Daryl looked at all of us and walked off.
"Wake up, Jimbo. We've got some work to do." I heard Daryl say as I made my way over to Glenn and T-dog.
"Need some help?" I asked them.
"Sure." Glenn said and pointed to a body and I dragged it over to the fire.
Morales and Daryl were pulling one of the group members we lost over to the fire and Glenn lost it.
"What are you guys doing?" He asked the two men.
"This is for geeks. Our people go over there." Glenn said now panicking at this point.
"What's the difference? They're all infected." Daryl said, putting the body down.
"Our people go in that row over there. We don't burn them! We bury them! Understand?" Glenn told Daryl.
"Daryl just put him over there. Stop being a fucking prick." I said as T-dog and I pulled another geek into the fire. Daryl and Morales stood there for a second and Daryl just stared at me. I gave him a look and he just grunted in response. But him and Morales picked up the body and moved it to where we had the people we lost lined up.
"You reap what you sow!" Daryl yelled at Glenn.
"You know what? Shut up, man." Morales told Daryl.
"Y'all left my brother for dead. You had this coming." Daryl yelled before walking off. We didn't deserve this even if we did leave Merle behind and it wasn't for dead. Daryl was just being a drama queen. Jim went over to help Jacqui with another body.
"Are you bleeding?" She asked Jim.
"I got some on me from the bodies." Jim said, making up excuses. I walked over and stood close enough to her to hear them and to save her ass if she needed it.
"That blood is fresh. We're you bit?" She asked him as he went down to grab the body.
"No. I got scratched during the attack." Jim responded he seemed weak and winded, and he was obviously making up excuses.
"You got bit." Jacqui said as she stood up and backed away from Jim.
"I'm fine." He protested.
"Then show me." She insisted. Jim stood up and got closer to her and whispered.
"Don't tell, please." Jacqui took a few huge steps back and yelled to the group.
"A walker got him. A walker bit Jim." The whole group was now put on high alert. Everyone surrounded him and Daryl was the first to approach him.
"I'm okay. I'm okay." Jim kept repeating as Daryl walked over to him.
"Show it to us." Daryl demanded.
"Show it to us." Daryl said again as Jim backed away from him. Jim bent down and picked up a shovel.
'Him and that damn shovel.' I said to myself.
"Jim, take it easy. Jim." I said stepping towards him
"Grab him." Daryl said to T-dog who was behind Jim.
"Jim, put it down. Put it down." Shane yelled as he approached hot on my heels. T-dog grabbed him and held his arms behind his back as Daryl lifted up Jim's shirt to show a perfect bite mark on his ribs. All Jim could say was 'I'm okay.' Of course no one believed him and once we all saw the mark everyone put as much space between them and him as possible. None of us knew exactly what to do with him but, whatever it was. It needed to be done fast.

Gaming on a MUD is difficult.
This is a story based on my characters background and journal that I played on a mud (Multi User Dungeon) over the course of several years. Dozens of people play a text based command line game at the same time. I figured I'd try to turn in into a story to see if anyone found it interesting. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think. This is my first time so not very experienced. It is a story about how going into a multi player game expecting a typical RPG experience turns into something else because other players are involved.

Loot Sisters
Loot Sisters is a light-hearted flash fiction serial of 100-word episodes inspired by RPGs and hunting for quests. I don't have a set plan for where the story goes, as each week, I write my story around three random words posted weekly on The Prediction (an online flash fiction challenge group). I hope you enjoy the story! :) My characters include Maya (the narrator and a bit of a rogue-like character), Vera (our healer/mage), Felicia (resident navigator and lover of gadgets), and Rach (a fighter/brawler). Cover illustration is of Maya by Luminita Pham.
