《Clato》chapter eleven

Cato was tired from running around at different stations.
Clove waited next to Candice for Cato to join them.
Cato joined them, sighing.
Clove wanted to give Cato a hug but stopped herself. She followed Candice as they were escorted back.
Cato had forgotten about being a secret and snaked his arm round Clove's waist.
Clove's eyes bulged. She jumped out of his grasp and looked at him, showing her alarm.
Cato looked hurt, his eyes lowered.
"Sorry babe," Clove whispered into Cato's ear. "I don't want anyone finding out about us and using that as a weapon against us."
Cato stood to the far end.
As soon as the elevator door opened, Clove went straight inside to the main room.
"Dinner is in five." Candice informed them before heading back down.
Cato walked with her quietly. "We have interviews soon."
"What will we do?"
"I dunno, I'm just gonna answer his questions." Cato said matter of factly.
"What if he asks if you have a girlfriend?" Clove asked.
"Glimmer.." He murmured quietly.
* * *
"Glimmer?!" Clove was shocked that he'd even suggest her. "It's your dignity on the line."
Cato screwed his nose up. "Well it steers the cameras away from us."
"True," Clove paused "as long as you can live with her tagging along behind you every second of The Games, kissing you and calling you her boyfriend."
Cato sighed, "I'm not gonna kiss her,"
"She'll be kissing you. She hugged you as a greeting, what do you think she'll treat her 'boyfriend' like?" Clove looked into Cato's eyes. "But if you think it'll work, thank you." she gave him a faint smile.
Cato looked Clove in the eye. "I don't know what to do, Clove."

"Neither do I, babe." Clove hugged Cato and buried her face into his chest to stop herself from crying. "I'm so sorry I took the tesserae. I really am. I'm such an idiot." Clove couldn't hold back her tears anymore.
Cato held her to him close, "It's okay beautiful."
Clove just let herself sob in the safety of his arms.
Cato rubbed her back gently, his chin resting on top of her head.
"Dinner!" They heard Candice's voice coming from the elevator.
Cato sighed. "Coming down for tea?"
Clove looked up with tear filled eyes. "Like this?" She giggled.

"Just say.. You fell over or something." Cato chuckled.
"Great entrance for a career don't you think? 'I fell over! Oh now I'm balling my eyes out!' I think I'll stay up here babe, you can go down." She gave him a reassuring smile.
"Hmmm.." Cato sighed. "Okay, see you in a little bit." He told her.
"Goodbye babe." She kissed him and went to the snack table they had on their floor.
"Goodbye Clove," He answered and went out to the dining area.
Clove read the menu. All of it. Nothing caught her eye until she saw the deserts.
"Ice cream." Clove whispered into the mouthpiece. A beautiful ice cream cone appeared in front of her.
Perfect.
Cato enjoyed dinner with the two mentors and Candice.
Clove soon finished that cone. She ordered another.
Cato finished up and went to Clove's room. He knocked on the door gently.
"Come in!" Clove replied, not bothering to hide her five serving dishes with the remnants of ice cream on them or her current cone.
