《Looed and Lost You 》_Chapter Twenty-nine: Like Twilight?_

Cathetel and I sat on my bed as I braided her hair. Gabriel and Balthazar had left the house leaving us home alone. Cathetel messed with my phone trying to figure it out.
"And what does this do again?" She flipped the screen up and then back down again. "You use it to call people and text them instead of sending a letter. You can also use the internet too."
Cathetel stared at it confused. "You humans are very complicated."
"Oh yeah," I said undoing the braid I had started. We went quite and I tried to redo her hair.
"How are you in the phone?" I looked over to see she had pulled up a picture of Gabriel and me. The picture was taken before I knew he we my angel. I sat in his lap covering my face as he tried to take a picture of us.
"It's a picture. Here let me show you." I let go of her hair and took the phone from her. Opening the camera, I pointed it at us and smiled. "Smile." Cathetel paused for a moment and then 'smiled'. If you could even call it smiling. I snapped the picture and showed it to her.
"There. That's how you take a picture." I gave the phone back to her and I started to do her hair once again. Cathetel mesmerized by this started taking pictures of herself and random things in my room. "Did you teach your mate all about how to use the internet and to take pictures?"
Cathetel took a picture with the flash on, which startled her. I paused at what she said.
"My what?" She looked back at me. "Your mate. Did you-"
"I know what you said. Who do you think is my mate?" I asked brows furrowing.

"Gabriel." I didn't even know how to respond to that.
"What-why would you think that?" Cathetel placed my phone down in her lap.
"When you are bound to an angel, a mark is left in your soul. In your case, Gabriel's mark is in yours. And your mark is in Gabriel's. It's fated."
"Fated?" I asked still trying to wrap my head around what she was saying. "Some angels have mates. Not very often. In some very rare cases, we are bound to humans."
"...So what you don't get a choice in the matter? Because I didn't sign up for that." Cathetel shook her head.
"We do not...And unfortunately, there is no 'signing off'. You can hate each other all you want but when it comes down to it you need the other." I nodded slowly.
"...So like Twilight?"
Cathetel tilted her head in confusion. "What does this have to do with a time of day?" I stared at her blankly before cracking up laughing.
"Why is this funny? I'm so confused."
Later that day I sat in the living room watching tv. Cathetel was in the kitchen trying to use the microwave. I took a sip of my soda as I heard the sound of flapping wings behind me. "Honey I'm home," Gabriel said from behind me.
I turned around and stood on my knees. "Its fitting I guess since I'm your mate and all." Gabriel froze in his spot. He took a minute to process what I had said. His eyes went wide as his face turned beet red.
"What-how-why do you say that?" Gabriel asked flustered. I giggled and placed my soda on the table. Turning back to face him I reached my hands out and wiggled my finger. He hesitantly walked over. Every step seemed to make his face even redder. I placed my hands on his sides and looked up at him.

"Because our souls are 'marked'." Gabriel looked away. He didn't know what to say. His blush spread up to his ears. "Is Gabriel, the Gabriel, at a loss for words?" I teased him. Gabriel crossed his arms making me chuckle. I turned Gabriel's head to look at me.
"Why didn't you say anything? I found out from Cathetel of all people." I chuckled. Gabriel sighed. "Because...I don't know...it's weird. You're my best friend Candy Cane..."
"Did I just get friendzoned?" I asked placing a hand over my heart pretending to be hurt. Gabriel chuckled. "No. You didn't. I'm just saying-"
"No, no. I understand," I faked a sniff. "I'll just have to go out and find a boyfriend...I've heard the real Loki's back and ready to mingle."
"Eh! Whoa there. Let's not go that far." Gabriel said wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me closer. "The real Loki's a zero compared to me." I looked back up at him.
"You think so?" I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I know so." We started to lean in for a kiss. My eyes started to close until they snapped open at the sound of flapping wings.
"Sorry I'm late everyone," Gabriel turned to stare daggers at Balthazar.
"Dude." I shook my head with a chuckle and placed my head on his chest.
"What? Did I say something?" Gabriel shook his head I looked around him to smile at Balthazar. "How was your day Balthy?" I asked pulling away from Gabriel whose mouth hung open in disbelief.
"It was fine, thank you for asking Cansas," Balthazar said as I walked up to him.
"Really?" Gabriel asked making me I smile over at him.
"Really." He shook his head and leaned back on the couch.
"I was thinking we would eat out tonight," I said looking at the two angels. "Sounds good to me," Gabriel said crossing his arms.
"And does this include Cathetel?" I sighed and looked to Balthazar. "She's fine. I think if she really wants us dead she would have already tried. I mean I'm I wrong?" I looked at Gabriel.
"Yeah, I think she's fine now. And one night out won't hurt anyone." Gabriel walked over to me and wrapped his arm around my neck. Balthazar sighed.
"Fine. But if she makes one wrong move," I smiled at him.
"Thank you Balthy." A loud bang was heard from the kitchen and we all looked over to find Cathetel had flown out of the kitchen. Smoke billowed out of the doorway.
"What did you do?" Cathetel looked over at us. Black covered her face.
"I think the microwave is angry."

Penance's Pursuit
This future sci-fi fantasy follows the progression of a few main characters as they navigate their unique spheres of life in the year 2242. The story focuses heavily on themes of guilt, personal failing, and penance. The conflict revolves around two main concepts: Man vs. Himself (Internal conflict) and Man vs Man (External conflict). The internal conflicts focus on many of the characters' inner demons and how each of them deal with the scars of the past. The external conflict centers around a mysterious criminal organization called Nexus that conducts human trafficking. There are three groups of main characters. The first group belong to a vigilante mercenary organization called Ab Aeterno. Titus, Venna, and Benjamin are Achilles team. This team is a part of Ab Aeterno's special forces branch which is designated Demon Stalkers. Their goal and mission is to perform assassinations, abductions, and destabilization operations on criminal organizations throughout the solar system. Their current mission places them directly in the path of Nexus. Titus interacted with them in his past and they seem to have unlimited reach, resources, and power. As the team faces this threat, old wounds will surface and dangerous connections to the past will emerge. The second group of characters are on the Mars colony. Randal Page is an analyst for a talent scout company on Mars. He is faced with the reality that the company he thought he was working for is in fact Nexus. His story centers around his coming to realize the duplicity of the company he works for and then his response to the startling realization of his own ignorant involvement. Also on Mars is a woman named FaRarra Njokko. She is a Nexus sex slave in a brothel on Mars and is known by the stage name of Stardust. She is striving to escape when her path crosses with Randal. The final main character is Preston Coretel. He is a monk with a mysterious and shady past. He is on the run from Nexus in more ways than one. He is seeking sanctuary on an abandoned monastery space station in order to avoid agents of Nexus and to atone for his previous involvement with Nexus.
