《Looed and Lost You 》_Chapter Twenty-eight: Attack of the toaster_

"Cansas. Were you able to get anything out of her?" Balthazar asked walking into the kitchen where I was showing Cathetel how to use a toaster. I looked over at him.
"Yep. Demons are trying to break the 66 seals. They are also trying to find me so I can help. Raphael wants to lock his brother in a prison. Armageddon is nigh by the way. Also, Elyon and Daphiel's flock want to kill Gabriel, not lock him away...well except for Cathetel."
The toaster popped up and Cathetel jumped back. Her brown and blonde wings unfolded and knocked things off the kitchen table.
"You okay?" I turned back to her.
"It tried to attack me." She said looking over at me. I had to hold back a laugh after seeing how serious she was.
"N-no. That's how it tells you the foods done." I took the pop tarts out of the toaster and put them on a napkin. Handing them to her she took them hesitantly.
"Now you eat them." She nodded and took a bite out of one. I turned back to Balthazar but before I could speak Cathetel said, "It tastes like molecules." This made me crack up laughing.
"Did I say something comical?"
I paused for a moment. "No...no you didn't," I said clearing my throat. "You'll get used to it." She nodded and continued to eat the pop tart.
"Anyway. How's Gabriel?" Balthazar sighed. "He locked himself in your room. What are we going to do about Cathetel?" He whispered. I looked back to see Cathetel's nose scrunched up as she ate.
"I don't think we should kill her. She's cool and doesn't want anything to do with her flock." Balthazar crossed his arms.

"I find that hard to believe. And even if she was running away from her flock, where is she going to go?" I scratched the top of my head.
"Well...I was thinking she could stay here..." Balthazar's eyes narrowed.
"No. Absolutely not."
"Come on Balthazar. Please. She wouldn't leave the house. I would keep an eye on her and if she tries to tell her flock stuff I'll stop her." Balthazar shook his head.
"Balthy. Please. I need another female in the house."
Balthazar kept his hard stare until he slouched. "Fine, but only if she doesn't leave."
"Thank you Balthy. I'll make it up to you." I said giving him a hug.
"You better."
Later that night I showed Cathetel to an extra room.
"So during the night, you're going to have to stay in here. Balthazar warded it so don't try to leave...um...yeah, sorry. He is really persistent about you being bad." Cathetel nodded in understanding.
"It is fine. I will follow your rules." She walked into the room.
"Um...if you get hungry, I left some food on the table...there's some paper and crayons you can use if you get bored and also a tv...again, I'm really sorry."
"Thank you, Cansas." She smiled.
"Well, night," I said with a smile and shut the door. With a sigh, I walked down the hall and over to my room. I opened the door and turned the light on only to let out a startled yelp at the person who sat on my bed. Gabriel sat there with a blanket wrapped around himself like a hermit.
"What the hell are you doing Gabriel!" I shouted placing a hand over my heart. "You almost gave me a heart attack."

"I didn't want to leave the house..." He said tightening his grip on the blanket. I shook my head and walked into the room. I sat down next to him on the bed.
"What's wrong?" Gabriel looked over at me. "Nothing." I raised an eyebrow.
"Really? So you flew out of the room and came up here because of nothing? You're not convincing me." Gabriel looked to the side and I huffed. I pulled part of the blanket out of Gabriel's hand and got under. He looked over at me and I smiled up at him.
"You can tell me anything, you know." Gabriel smiled down at me. But his smile turned into a frown. "I-I can't have people rely on me like that...I can't be a leader...leaders don't run away. A leader isn't cowardly and selfish,"
"I've let so many people down...I let you down. If I can't even stay for the one I care for the most in my life...How am I supposed to stay and lead an army?" I took Gabriel's hand in mine.
"Gabriel...You haven't let me down. You would be a great leader. But if you truly feel like you wouldn't, no one is making you." I rested my head on Gabriel's shoulder. He sighed and placed his head on top of mine.
We stayed like that for a few minutes before I let out a yawn. "I need to get some sleep. Stay here I just got to change." I got out from under the blanket and grabbed some pjs.
"Alright," Gabriel said as I walked out of the room.
I walked into the bathroom and quickly got changed into my baggy black pants and a loose fitting t-shirt. As I walked back to my room I could hear Cathelet watching tv in her room. I shook my head in amusement and walked back into my room.
Gabriel still sat wrapped in a blanket. Turning the lights off I crawled onto my bed. I pulled the blanket off Gabriel and pulled it over myself.
"Hey." He turned around to face me.
"I need a blanket. But you're welcome to get back under them." I said patting the bed next to me. Gabriel clawed over and got back under. I snuggled up next to him and he wrapped his arm around me. Taking his hand in mine I sighed tiredly.
"Hey, what happened to your old vessel?" I asked Gabriel out of the blue. He looked down at me as I looked up at him.
"What? Do you like him better?" I shook my head.
"No, no. I was just wondering." Gabriel chuckled. "He was getting a bit rusty. But he lived out a good life. Never even knew what happened." I rested my head on his chest. "That's good...Night Angel." Closing my eyes I felt Gabriel kiss the top of my head.
"Good night, Candy Cane."

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
