''Why the fuck did you call the police?'' She asks, pointing at us with anger in her eyes.

''I can explain!'' Julia says while i keep quiet.

''You better do!'' She snaps as I bite my lip.

''We wanted to find him! It would be impossible without the police!'' Julia explains in desperation.

''How could you risk his life?'' Billie snaps.

''What are you talking about?'' Julia asks, shaking he head.

''He told us that calling the police would hurt him, so how could you risk him getting hurt?'' She asks and I realise that I'm almost crying.

''I didn't mean to do that,'' she snaps.

''Why didn't you tell us?''

''Because you wouldn't let us call them,'' Julia says.

''Who's idea was it?'' Billie asks, looking at me while analysing my face expression.

''It was mine,'' I lie, sucking in my lips before looking away.

''You're lying,'' she says immediately.

''I'm not!'' I snap.

''Why did you let Julia manipulate you?'' She snaps back, making me tense. ''You didn't even want to do it, did you?''

''She didn't manipulate me,'' I mumble but I know deep inside that my best friend convinced me when I wasn't agreeing with her in the first place. ''Don't blame her.''

My older friend has always been able to convince me to doing stuff that I know is wrong. I feel like I don't have anything to say and sometimes I wish that I could just stand up for myself.

''Tell me the fucking truth, Ember. We promised each other to never lie,'' she says, crouching down in front of me as I bury my face in my hands.

''It wasn't her fault,'' I sob, feeling like shit for blaming everything on my friend who has helped e with everything. ''It was me'.'

''Stop dragging my girlfriend into shit!'' She snaps and I immediately start to cry more, not knowing what do to.

''I didn't drag her into anything!'' Julia screams and I see how the guy in the disk looks a bit scared.

''If you come up with crazy ideas, fine! But don't try to manipulate her to doing shit that she doesn't want to do! You think that she doesn't have a choice because she's younger!'' She says loudly, almost screaming while pointing at me, her veins popping out of her hand from the anger.

She says before walking back to me and sitting down next to me. Julia sits down a few feet away from us and I bury my face in my hands once again, feeling like shit. In one way, I appreciate Billie standing up for me, but I hate seeing Julia like this, too. The problem is that we won't ever find Travis if we keep fighting and that's exactly what no one can seem to understand. Billie and Kevin were figthing yesterday and now everyone hates Julia because she lied.

''What's wrong?'' He asks.

''Julia convinced Ember that it was a great idea to call the cops even though that would hurt Travis!'' Billie immediately says, making Kevin open his mouth in surprise.

''It wasn't her fault-''

''Shut up, Ember,'' Billie says, putting her hand on my shoulder before looking at Kevin again who is looking at Julia in disbelief.

''How could you? How could you do this after what Travis said in his letter?'' He asks, shaking his head is Julia looks down at the floor.

''It was the only way,'' she answers, making Kevin shake his head.

''No, it's not! We could have looked for him! What if Travis dies because of you?'' He screams, making my eyes widen. Julia stands up and walks out of the room towards the exit.

''You crossed the line, Kev,'' I mumble.

''Ember, let's go!'' Billie says, annoyed and I bite my lip before following her out of the police station, leaving Kevin in the cafeteria.

I keep quiet on our way home, feeling how mad Billie is at me for lying. I just want to tell her how sorry I am for everything, but something stops me from doing so. As we sit next to each other on the bus, two girls approach us.

''Oh my god! I love you so much, Billie!'' One of them says, hugging Billie tightly, makign her smile before hugging her back.

''I love you, too,'' Billie says and I try to smile as much as I can, not wanting them to think that Billie has a bitchy friend.

''Wait, you are Billie's girlfriend, aren't you?'' One of the girls asks, making me tense.

''We're friends,'' I say immediately.

''Yeah, friends,'' Billie says immediately and I suddenly realise how awkward this is.

Billie manages to change the subject, making me sigh out in relief. As the bus stops close to Billie's house, we say goodbye to the fangirls before walking towards the big building. As we enter and step into the elevator, I feel how awkward this is.

''I'm sorry,'' I mumble.

''It's not your fault,'' she says immediately. ''It's Julia.''

''What did she do?'' I ask, feeling so stupid.

''You can't see the way she manipulates you, can you?'' She asks, looking at me but I just can't look her in the eyes.

''I... I actually haven't,'' I mumble, looking down at the ground. That my best friend and my girlfriend hate each other at the same time as Travis is gone sucks.

After a while, we reach floor number seven and Billie unlocks the door before entering. It's been a while since we were here since and I've actually missed her apartment a lot. We just walk straight into Billie's room and I lay down on her bed, looking up at the ceiling.

''So this is why you were acting so weird today?'' She asks as she picks up a T-shirt from the floor and putting it in her closet.

''I guess so,'' I mumble. ''I said I'm sorry.''

''And I said that it's not your fault so please just listen to me,'' she says, putting her hands on my knees. ''Just because you're younger than us doesn't mean that you don't have an opinion. You have to stand up for yourself, always, okay?''

''Okay.''
