3rd POV
He heard footsteps from down the hall.
"Grian you need to run," Taurtis whispered.
"I cant leave you here," Grian retorted. "He'll kill you!"
"That's a sacrifice I'm willing to take if it means both of us don't die."
"What am I without you?" Grian whispered.
"Yourself," Taurtis replied with a sad smile.
The footsteps got louder.
"Run Grian!" Taurtis yelled.
Through tears, Grian down the halls, past many other bloodstained cells. He heard screams then a voice from down the hall.
"Grian~" Sam called in a sing song voice, dragging out the I. He continued to sprit down the halls, though Sam gaining. Grian tripped on a stone and tumbled to the ground. Sam stood above him with an insane smile plastered in his face. The knife in his hand came down and-
Grian woke up in a cold sweat from another nightmare. You don't shoot up out of fear like in the movies, you just lie in an eerie silence.
Another nightmare from YHS. You'd think it'd hurt less. Grian cried silently, shaking slightly. He didn't want to make too much noise as if someone found out about his scars, it might end badly. Mumbo might not like him anymore if he knew about his scars that made him ugly. Overall he didn't like attracting attention to himself so he stayed silent, though continuing to cry.
Something shifted next to him and he felt a pair of arms wrap around him. At this point he was quietly sobbing.
"Shhhh it's okay I'm here," Mumbo whispered in his ear. Mumbo made Grian roll over so he could properly hug him.
He sobbed into Mumbo's chest as the taller hermit comforted him. After about half an hour, Grian had calmed down enough to breath regularly. He laid in the warm embrace.

"S- sorry," Grian stuttered out while whipping his tears. He moved away from Mumbo.
"Love you did nothing wrong. Are you okay?" Mumbo asked, spooning Grian.
"I- I'm fine it's just..."
"A nightmare?" Mumbo finished. Grian slowly nodded. He hugged Grian tighter.
"You don't have to talk," Mumbo told the latter.
Grian rolled over and returned the hug. He was happy and unbelievably lucky to have Mumbo.
"Thank you Mumbi," Grian called him by a nickname.
Mumbo smiled. "No problem love," he said as he ran his hand through the blonde's hair.
Grian's grip on Mumbo loosened as he began to fall asleep. Mumbo looked down at his boyfriend who looked so damn cute.
"I love you..." the blonde said as he drifted off to sleep. In response, Mumbo kissed his forehead. He might've had no idea what Grian went through but he loved his boyfriend anyways.
Mumbo fell asleep while resting his head on Grians.

Directorate: Nationbuilding in Apocalypse
A nation is just a means of survival. Metro Manila fell within 5 months of the first report of cannibalism. Once a hyperurbanized region of 15 million inhabitants, it's been reduced to a dead, greenless shell. Most of the infected had since left to ravage the countryside. The central government was nowhere to be found. Among the survivors who clung to the few gardens and humble plots of arable land left, one of them finds evidence that the slaughter wasn't going to just end with the first wave. Without a nation and a wall of guns, everyone will die. Directorate is an original nationbuilding webnovel that focuses on the gradual rise to power of a select few individuals, and the subsequent unification of the survivors of a devastated Metro Manila.
