《The Nerd and The Frog》Keeping a Secret

How was Alan supposed to get through the rest of his day after the fiasco that was biology class? The entire class running after a frog across school grounds had caught the attention of everyone. The school principal, Mr. Marshall, came on the intercom and demanded that the entirety of Mrs. Crowley's biology class go back to their classroom, unless they all wanted detention for a week.
By that point, Alan had already made his way towards his final class for the day, which was AP English, a class that him and Nicolette shared. It was a rather small class, of just 8 students, making for a more intimate and relaxed classroom setting.
The classroom was currently empty as their English teacher, Ms. Collins, took the previous period to retreat to the teacher's lounge. This gave Alan a bit of recovery time, his mind still reeling.
Using a notebook, he wrote everything that just occurred down:
Recap of Events
- Dead bullfrog in Biology class.
- Supposed dead bullfrog is NOT DEAD.
- Bullfrog hops around class and hides in your desk.
- Bullfrog can TALK.
- Bullfrog is actually Daniel "Unbelievably FINE soccer GOD" Lang.
- Have solid evidence that it is Daniel Lang, due to seeing his WONDERFUL NAKED ASS running across school grounds.
- HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?
Having written that down fully, Alan just leaned back into his desk chair, gazing up towards the ceiling in a slight daze.
"How... is Daniel Lang... a bullfrog?" he muttered to himself. He quietly recalled what Daniel, in bullfrog form, told him in the classroom.
"I'm not a damn puppet... Look, I'm actually a human. I've just been cursed, and I need someone to kiss me to turn me back."
"Cursed?" Alan spoke aloud, a puzzled expression coming across his face. "This sounds like something out of a video game or a kid's story."
Pulling out his cell phone, Alan played the video he captured of Daniel being completely naked for the 8th time since he recorded it. While the previous views were purely for entertainment (and utter glee), this one was for research purposes. Through his glasses, his green eyes scanned for any evidence of how Daniel could go from bullfrog to human in the blink of an eye. He paused at certain spots, to see if there was anything on Daniel's body that may have shown evidence of this.

"Wow... bold enough to be looking at porn in class?" someone spoke over his left shoulder, a hint of a smile in their voice.
Alan almost jumped entirely out of his seat at the sound, immediately covering his phone. "Shit, Nicolette! You scared me!" he yelled out, only to hear her laugh.
"Whatever it is that you're looking at, you were really into it." Nicolette spoke through laughs, taking a seat at her regular desk directly beside Alan. She was a teenage girl of average height, and slim in frame, but a bit busty in the chest. She was younger than Alan by several months. Her black, curly hair fell to the middle of her back and was often tied back with a hair tie. While she normally wore glasses, she had contacts placed over brown eyes today.
"It's not porn!" Alan shot back with a glare, putting his phone away entirely.
"Ok, then why else would you have a naked man on your phone?" Nicolette questioned with a smirk.
Unsure of what to say in this instance, Alan opened his mouth to speak, but soon quickly closed it. Do I want to tell her about this? There's no damn way she would believe my story... and I haven't even talked to Daniel about this at all.
"Shut up, Nicolette..." he quietly muttered to himself, looking away entirely as a small pout came to his lips. For now, he would continue to let Nicolette assume it was some sort of awkward porn focusing on naked men streaking outside. At least until he was able to get more answers from Daniel.
"That's what I thought." Nicolette replied with a chuckle.
"I'm surprised you're here early. The class bell hasn't rung yet." Alan asked, looking over towards her.
"My photographs have to develop in the darkroom for my project." Nicolette answered with a shrug. "And apparently there was something going on in a biology class that caught everyone's attention, so I figured I may as well leave early while no one was looking."
"Yeah..." Alan gave a light laugh. "That was my class."
Nicolette's eyes blinked in surprise. "What happened?"
"So, we were supposed to be dissecting frogs today in class-"
"Well, I know for a fact you didn't participate in that." Nicolette interjected with a grin.
"Damn right. I wrote a report." Alan stated with a nod. "But, you know Claire and Jess, right?"

"The cheerleaders? Yeah, what about them?" Nicolette asked, confused.
"So, they were getting ready to dissect this dead frog. Jess was, really, because Claire refused."
"Claire is such a bitch..." Nicolette added with a frown.
"Seriously." Alan agreed with a roll of his eyes. "So, Jess starts poking this dead frog... that actually ends up not being dead. "
Nicolette's entire face changed from placid, to full-blown shock. "Wait... the frog is NOT DEAD?"
"No, it's not!" Alan continued with a laugh. "It's alive, so you know they both freaked out!"
"Oh shit, I wish I was there to see it!" Nicolette cackled. "How did this happen?!"
"I have no clue! But, the frog ends up hopping around class, and Mrs. Crowley made the offer that who ever catches it, doesn't have to take the final. So, the entire class went nuts trying to catch this thing." Alan stated quickly.
"So, who caught it?" Nicolette asked, thoroughly intrigued.
"It hopped out the window before anyone could." Alan ended the story with a big grin, seeing Nicolette laugh loudly.
"That's one smart frog!" Nicolette added, still laughing.
"Uh, yeah... it sure is!" Alan spoke, hesitating, not mentioning that he helped with that. "Then, the class ran out to try and catch it, hence the whole school knowing about it and Principal Marshall getting pissed."
"So, you just packed up and left?" Nicolette asked, still laughing slightly.
"What else was I supposed to do?" Alan asked with a laugh of his own. "I have it all on video, so if you want to see it later, let me know."
"Hell yeah, I do!" Nicolette replied excitedly. "Just send it to me and I can look at it when I ride home on the bus."
"Will do." Alan confirmed, hearing the school bell sound and the noise of other students echoing in the halls. Soon after, other students begin trickling into the classroom, taking their place at their desks. As he began to get his assigned book out to prepare for class, his phone vibrated in his jeans pocket.
Before Ms. Collins came into the classroom, he pulled it out to see who could be texting him. "It's probably mom..." he spoke softly to himself, looking at the screen quickly.
However, it was a number he did not recognize. Puzzled, he pressed his finger to the screen to unlock his phone and open the text.
Unsure if he should actually reply back, Alan sent a text.
Alan blinked, to make sure his eyes weren't playing tricks on him.
His heart stopped for a second, utterly shocked that Daniel Lang was texting him.
Alan, trying to calm himself down as to not draw attention to himself, quickly replied back.
Alan was about to get up, walk out of class and say he felt ill, just so he could leave and immediately go and meet Daniel right then and there. Could this day get any weirder or more amazing?
Without skipping a beat, Alan's fingers moved along the screen of his phone in earnest, also catching a glimpse of Ms. Collins entering the room.
With that, Alan put his phone in his pocket, seeing Ms. Collins close the door behind her as she entered the room.
"Afternoon, guys! Let's go ahead and get started." she spoke with a smile, as she placed her things down onto the front desk near the whiteboard.
However, his phone vibrated again, and Alan couldn't help but slouch down in his seat slightly as he partially pulled his phone out of his pocket to look at the screen, his green eyes lighting up at the message once he unlocked his phone.

First, thank you for taking the time to read my story!
Second, let me state that I did not expect this story to get such a warm reception when I entered it in the @OminouslyAnonymous contest. Nor, did I expect to win first place... which actually made me nervous! But, in a good way! I sat and debated if I wanted to continue this story or not, since I left it slightly open-ended. I loved the characters so much, that I decided to go ahead and continue it. I'm hoping to stick to a weekly posting schedule, so a chapter will be uploaded every week until completion.
Third, my other story that I entered into the same ongoing contest, Ultimatum, will also be a work in progress. I'm not sure if I will write these stories at the same time or not, as that may be too much for me to handle. But, look out for an update on that.
