《The Nerd and The Frog》It's Complicated

As soon as the bell rang for the last time that day, Alan quickly grabbed his things and headed out of the classroom door, with Nicolette on his heels not too long after.
"Where are you running off to with the quickness?" Nicolette asked, walking beside him as soon as she caught up.
Alan was unsure of what to say, as he rounded the corner towards his locker. He glanced over at a clock on a nearby wall, which read 3:35pm.
"I have to go and talk with Mr. Hayes. I'm trying to see if I can convince him to let me skip gym this semester as well." he lied quickly, switching out his textbooks and materials for the day as he shuffled through his backpack.
"You haven't done that yet? I figured you did last week when classes started." Nicolette asked, surprised.
"I got distracted, and you know how he gets when it's football season. He likes to start on time with the team, so I want to catch him before he gets into coaching mode." Alan answered, slamming his locker shut and hauling the backpack onto his shoulder.
"Alright, I'll meet up with you later tonight. We're still going to watch AHS, right? The premiere for the season is at 10." Nicolette replied.
"Hell yeah. As if I would miss Evan's beautiful face." Alan said with a cheeky grin as he headed towards the doors that exited to the schoolyard.
"I HATE that we are obsessed over the same guy. What does that say about my taste in men?" Nicolette said with a roll of her eyes.
"Maybe you were a gay man in your previous life." Alan teased, only to have Nicolette smirk in return.
"I was a top, that's for sure." Nicolette joked, only to see Alan laugh loudly. "I'll let you know when I'm heading over. Catch you later!" she yelled, before running towards the line of buses.
"See you later!" Alan spoke with a wave of his hand, before heading towards the direction of the baseball field.
The grounds of the school typically cleared out by 3:45pm, save for anyone practicing for sports. Baseball season was beginning to wrap up, and their team was knocked out of the league due to a recent loss, so practices were sparse. But football season was gearing up since the team won the regional championship last year. Attention was going to be on that field, which was on the opposite side of the school grounds.
At 3:43pm, Alan found himself stepping onto the lush grass of the baseball field, looking around aimlessly. It was completely clear, the afternoon sun resting in the sky as it occasionally peeked out from behind rolling clouds. He began walking towards a set of bleachers, climbing a few flights before taking a seat. It was exactly 3:45pm as he pulled out his phone, seeing if there was a message from Daniel, only to be disappointed in seeing a clear screen of no new notifications.
This gave his mind a moment to reflect on everything that had happened. From Chemistry class to the text message before AP English. How in the world did he get blessed with this opportunity to be connected to Daniel Lang? Of all people, the one guy he had a crush on for 5 years? He covered his face in his hands, letting out a noise of frustration and excitement.

"It can't be that bad." a voice spoke from behind, the sound of footsteps descending towards him.
Alan looked up quickly, turning to glance over his shoulder to see Daniel walking towards him, a small smile on his face. Alan couldn't help but stare, trying to keep any composure he had left at the sight. Daniel had on a stylish pair of dark wash slim-fitted jeans paired with all white Vans, a dark grey t-shirt and black bomber jacket. His jet-black hair was parted towards the right side of his face, the front styled in a messy fashion to lightly fall right above his eyebrows. He had a black Herschel backpack slung over his right shoulder, his hands resting in his jeans pockets.
No human should look this amazing. Alan thought to himself, feeling small and insignificant in comparison. Under his unzipped grey hoodie was a nerdy black t-shirt with Final Fantasy Chocobos running across it, basic blue jeans and scuffed black converse. He averted his green eyes not too long after, as he felt his face start to heat up. "Well... depends on what you have to tell me, really..." he forced out quickly, adjusting his black glasses onto his nose as he tried to get his mind clear.
With that, Daniel came and sat down next to him, placing his book-bag down onto the seat in front of them. "It's... complicated." he forced out with a sigh, leaning his forearms onto his knees as he did so.
"You think?" Alan said with a small laugh, glancing over towards him. "How... in the fucking hell... are you a bullfrog?" he asked, still in disbelief.
A pensive look came into Daniel's face after that, his hands clasping together as he stared at nothing in particular. "As I stated, I'm cursed. Not just me, either. Pretty much all of the men in my family are. It's a curse that has been put on my family for centuries."
Alan's attention was taken from his imagination of how Daniel looked underneath all his clothes, to everything that came out of Daniel's mouth. "All of the men in your family? So, even your father?"
"Yes, even my father. Grandfather. It stems from his side of the family. However, if you have more than one male child, only one of them inherits the curse. Considering that I have 2 other siblings, one of them being my older brother, my family wasn't sure who would get it." Daniel answered with a light shrug.
"So... you ended up being the lucky one, so to speak..." Alan spoke softly, seeing Daniel grin at the statement.
"Not sure if that's lucky, really. We never know when it will happen either. My father said it occurred when he was in college, while he was in the middle of practicing for a swim competition. Good thing he often practiced alone." Daniel said with a small laugh.
"How did he change back? Well, actually, what caused him to change? How old was he, exactly?" Alan couldn't help but rattle off questions, fascinated and also perplexed by such a thing as a curse existing in this world.
"Slow down there with the questions, Moogle!" Daniel said with a laugh.
Alan was taken aback completely at the name. "Moogle?" he repeated, in shock. "You play Final Fantasy?" he asked, just to be sure.

"Uh, yeah. Who doesn't?" Daniel replied, confused. "And obviously you do, considering your shirt." he pointed towards with a smile.
"Amazing people like yourself." Alan quickly rebutted, but instantly regretted it as he saw Daniel's face light up in surprise. "I mean, not many jocks and sports guys play RPGs! They usually play Madden, Battlefield and some shit."
"Oh, no. I play all types of games when I have the time." Daniel replied. "My older brother got me into them."
"But, why am I a Moogle?" Alan asked as he pointed towards himself, confused.
"You ask a lot of damn questions, you're witty as fuck, but you're also my save point." Daniel spoke with a teasing smile.
All Alan could do was stare back at Daniel in fascination. I'd fucking kiss him right here, right now if I knew it wouldn't freak him out. Alan thought to himself. "S-Save point?" was all Alan could force out, his mind trying to function again.
"Yeah, not everyone is willing to commit to being the sole person who can break the curse temporarily." Daniel answered. "Once they commit to giving a kiss, they are the only ones who can do so."
His mind was spinning at this point. Alan shook his head in confusion. "Wait, wait... you mean to tell me, that since I gave you that kiss, I'm the ONLY ONE who can kiss you to break the curse?!"
"Um, yeah..." Daniel answered with a bashful grin.
The same blank look of disbelief from their very first encounter in class came back onto Alan's face.
"Look, I'm sorry Alan. I'm sure the last thing you want to do is kiss a bullfrog more than once. It's probably worse that the bullfrog is a dude." Daniel stated with a frustrated sigh. "I'm sure that makes you uncomfortable and you'd probably want to kiss a girl or someth-"
"It doesn't!" Alan quickly replied, only to see Daniel look at him in shock.
"I mean, shit... It's not your fault that you have to deal with this." Alan quickly followed up, not wanting to show that this was now the most amazing thing happening in his entire life. "I'm willing to help."
"Really?" Daniel asked, his ebony eyes lighting up with hope.
"Seriously, I am. I mean, if I've already committed to one kiss, I might as well do a few more. At least until we figure this out." Alan answered with a small smile.
Unexpectedly, Alan was soon caught in a tight embrace, Daniel having wrapped his arms around him in joy. "You have no idea how happy this makes me!" Daniel exclaimed, ecstatic.
It took all the strength in Alan's body for him to not faint at the fact that Daniel Lang was hugging him. His face was hot, a red tint easily being shown on his cheeks from the contact, his body going slightly rigid from shock and excitement.
OMG... he's HUGGING me! I can feel his muscles through his jacket... And fuck, this smell... What kind of cologne does Daniel have on? Or is this just his natural scent? I'm never washing this hoodie again.
As quickly as it came, it soon went away, with Daniel looking rather embarrassed. "I'm sorry about that." he spoke with a bashful grin on his face. "Seriously, I'll never do that again, that probably freaked you out."
"Uh... yeah... " was all Alan could force out, an embarrassed smile of his own coming to his face.
"I've just heard all the stories that my dad and other male relatives told me about how damn hard it was for them to find someone willing to kiss them. And none of them ever asked a guy to do it." Daniel exclaimed with a laugh. "You were the only one that wasn't trying to hunt me down and kill me, so you were my only option. I mean, that's not a bad thing, though... you seem like a cool guy."
The blush from earlier still sat on Alan's face at the statement, not sure how to take it. "Well, first time for everything, right?" Alan said with a small laugh.
"I guess so... Thanks Alan, seriously. I really do owe you." Daniel spoke with a bright smile. "Speaking on that, I did say that I would give you anything you wanted. It's actually something that we have the ability to do. Again... it's complicated, because I know you have questions."
"I'm not going to ask any more questions right now. This is all too overwhelming for me." Alan admitted.
"Well, what do you want?" Daniel asked, his attention on Alan fully.
"Um... I don't know. I'll let you know when I do." Alan answered with a nervous smile.
"Alright, that's cool. No rush. However, the only thing I ask that you don't tell anyone else. Let's just keep this between us." Daniel requested.
"That I can do. I don't think I'd want to get anyone else wrapped up in this." Alan spoke.
"Right. It's complicated enough as it is." Daniel replied as he got to his feet, grabbing his bag as he did so. "I actually have to get home soon, but we can always talk more later."
Following suit, Alan got to his feet as well, slinging his backpack onto his shoulder. "No worries, we can discuss this in more detail when you're free. Thanks for the quick explanation, at least."
"Believe me, there's so much more." Daniel joked with a laugh. "You heading home?"
"Yeah, I can just take the city bus to my house." Alan said, as he began to walk down the bleachers.
"You sure? I can give you a ride home." Daniel offered, following behind him.
Alan immediately stopped on the bleachers, looking back at Daniel fully.
"You'll give me a ride home?" Alan repeated, shocked.
"Why wouldn't I?" Daniel said, a confused look on his face. "It's the least I could do."
Alan stood there, having fully processed everything Daniel had spoke. If this is a dream, don't wake me. Because if you do, I will fucking punch you in the face.
