《The Nerd and The Frog》Kiss Me Once...

It wasn't easy being in the top 1% of the school academically, and it was only his second year in high school. His classmates also never let him forget. The nicknames of "teacher's pet" and "kiss-ass" were often used, along with "nerd" and "brainiac." It didn't help that he was also on the slim side, having not inherited any form of muscle or athletic ability from his father.

Alan was ranked 3rd in honors for his entire graduating class, being in direct competition with Nicolette Kruse, who was ranked 2nd. She was also his closest childhood friend since kindergarten. Then, there was Thomas Thaxton, who was the current valedictorian for their class, and an enormous asshole to boot; with his substantial intelligence, charming face and athletic ability. The model student for being academically and athletically talented, as well as attractive, or the "Triple As", as he and Nicolette deemed, and it was a constant plague seeing his face in all of the honors courses every damn semester.

However, since Thomas was an overachiever, he wasn't in the current class that Alan was pretending to pay attention in: AP Biology. Since he had taken the course over the summer at a local community college that offered it, Alan was spared Thomas's arrogant presence for once.

Instead, Alan found himself half-heartedly listening to Mrs. Crowley enthusiastically lecture to the students about how to dissect a dead frog. Not one for wanting to deal with anything dead, Alan opted to not take part in the lecture by writing a detailed 18-page report on the anatomy of the bullfrog species. While Mrs. Crowley was highly impressed with the report, giving him an A+ without question, he was still required to attend the session and do any other assignments given.

With his chin resting against the palm of his left hand, Alan's green eyes that were behind thick, black glasses began to slowly glaze over as he listened to the instructions Mrs. Crowley was giving the rest of the class. He was incredibly tired, having stayed up too late last night playing an MMO with friends who made online.

"Ok everyone, go ahead and grab your scalpels. Make sure you are wearing your gloves at this point. You are going to make an incision right into the underbelly of the bullfrog..." Mrs. Crowley explained from the front of the class.

"Oh my god... this is so gross..." a blond-haired girl named Claire spoke with utter disgust. "I should've just asked my mother to let me stay home sick today."

"I know, I don't understand why we have to do this. It's not like any of us are going to be majoring in Biology in college anyway." replied Jess in disdain, who happened to be Claire's best friend, with curly brunette hair.

Alan quietly smiled to himself as he listened to their conversation, as they were directly across from him as he sat on the barstool at the lab table, trying not to doze off.

"You do it Jess, I can't handle it." Claire stated quickly, handing her friend the scalpel in a huff.

"You're buying me lunch today, you bitch." Jess sneered at her, only to see Claire blow her a playful kiss.

Alan actually adjusted his gaze towards them quietly, watching them with amusement, knowing this was going to be a show either way it went.

Carefully holding the scalpel in her right hand, Jess lightly poked the dead bullfrog that was resting belly-up on the silver tray with her left index finger. "Poor thing... probably didn't have the best of deaths..." she spoke softly, lightly poking its hind leg in passing.

"At least it's dead." Claire spoke harshly. "I'd hate to be dissecting a live frog. I would flip. my. shit."

"I'd probably throw the tray across the room." Jess answered back with a laugh, as she poked the other leg in the same matter.

However, she stopped moving entirely and stared at the bullfrog with a very puzzled expression. "I'm... I'm fucking crazy...." she stuttered, her blue eyes blinking madly.

"What?" Claire asked, looking at her friend in confusion.

"I swear to GOD.... its leg moved." Jess said, a hint of fear in her voice.

From that statement, Alan's entire expression changed from amused to confusion. He intensely watched them both, thinking it couldn't be possible that a dead frog could twitch.

"Cut it out, Jess. That shit isn't funny." Claire said with a nervous laugh, lightly shoving her friend in the shoulder.

Jess, bewildered, stared strongly at the bullfrog, even moving in closer to make sure she really wasn't imagining things.

Not only did the leg twitch again, but this time, the bullfrog actually croaked.

"HOLY SHIT!!! IT'S ALIVE!" Jess cried out, throwing the scalpel into the air as her hands shot up.

"KILL IT! KILL IT!" Claire cried out as her brown eyes stared in disbelief at the now awoken bullfrog frantically trying to turn over from its back on the metal tray.

The entire class looked in their direction, with several students exclaiming loudly in shock and laughter.

"Girls! What is wrong with you?!" Mrs. Crowley shouted, heading in their direction.

"This frog is ALIVE!" Claire shouted back, moving away from the table quickly.

Jess shoved the tray away immediately, which caused it to overturn and land on the floor. Not too long after, many of the other students soon began to freak out, as the bullfrog was now on its feet and hopping across the floor in earnest.

"Oh, my goodness! It IS alive!" Mrs. Crowley cried out in utter shock. "Catch it! We can't have him hopping around this classroom!"

"Are you freaking serious?!" A guy shouted. "Why the hell do we have to catch it?"

"The student that catches it doesn't have to take the final exam this semester!" She retaliated immediately.

"Catch that damn frog!!" The same guy shouted, with more than half the class chasing the hopping bullfrog around the classroom in a maddened frenzy. Most girls cried out, threw objects and hid behind each other. While the majority of the guys chased it with book-bags, a trashcan and their gloved hands.

Alan, all the while, sat back and watched in shock. His right hand was the only thing moving, as his smartphone was carefully capturing all of this on camera.

Eventually, the bullfrog ended up disappearing, much to everyone's frustration.

"Where is that little demon?!" A girl shouted in frustration as she was on her hands and knees, holding a plastic bag she stole from a classmate. "I'm not taking this fucking exam."

Alan, still bewildered, sat at his desk as he watched his classmates tear the room apart to find this poor, frightened creature.

"Alan, you're not going to help? Do you want to take this damn exam?" a classmate asked, confused by his action of just sitting there.

"Don't bother with the nerd. He's the only one with a 105 score in this damn class," another one chimed in bitterly as they searched through a bookcase.

Alan shrugged quietly, a small, nervous smile on his face as they both turned their attention away from him. Once their eyes averted, he sighed roughly, resting his forehead against his desk. "It's not my fault that this stuff is easy as hell for me..." he spoke with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Psst...."

Alan looked up from his desk in surprise, confused as to who could be trying to get his attention.

"PSST...."

Again, Alan looked around, unsure of who could be trying to speak to him.

"Hey... down here!" A voice whispered below him. He immediately looked down to the floor yet saw nothing there.

"NO, I'm in HERE." The voice spoke softly from the cubby hole of the desk.

Alan blinked in disbelief. What the hell is in there? He thought to himself as he carefully crotched down to be eye level with the hole.

To his surprise, he saw the same bullfrog that had been hopping around the classroom tucked into a corner of the hole, next to the binding of his textbook.

"The hell?" Alan spoke, before the frog waved a front leg frantically.

"Don't speak so loud! Please!" he begged softly, its eyes wide and fearful. "Otherwise, they're going to catch me!"

Alan's green eyes just stared in shock behind his glasses, unable to blink. "...This is a dream." he softly spoke to himself. "I'm still asleep."

"I know this is hard to believe but trust me... you are not asleep." The bullfrog proclaimed quietly, moving a bit closer to the opening of the hole. Alan leaned away at that, before the bullfrog sighed.

"Look, I can explain this all later, but please just hear me out. I know I look like a frog, but I'm actually a human." he quickly explained.

"Bullshit...." Alan muttered, his green eyes still wide, staring in shock. "Have I been drugged or something?"

"It's hard to explain, ok? But I just need you to do one thing for me, please?" the frog asked, desperately.

Alan blinked, to show that he was at least trying to process everything.

"I need you to kiss me." The frog stated, staring back at Alan intently.

Alan blinked once again, then several times after that, then shook his head frantically. "Fuck no."

"Come on! If they catch me, I'm dead!" The frog pleaded, actually clasping its tiny webbed front legs together.

"This is a fucking joke. Are you a puppet or something?" Alan protested, before reaching out to poke the frog's leg, feeling that it was rather slimy and cold. "Shit, you're a realistic puppet!"

"I'm not a damn puppet!" The frog whispered back, angrily. "Look, I'm actually a human. I've just been cursed, and I need someone to kiss me to turn me back."

"This is insane! There's no way a frog is talking to me!" Alan shook his head. "It's not physically possible."

"If I promise to give you anything you want, will you do it?" The frog asked, as a final attempt of desperation.

Alan, intrigued, raised an eyebrow at the question. "Anything?"

The frog's eyes widened. "Anything."

There were a few seconds of pause, before Alan took a deep breath. "How do I know you'll be honest and trustworthy, Mr. Magic Frog?" he asked, uneasy.

"I'm a student here. I'm a junior. You can look me up later and you can talk to me about it once I'm back to normal." The frog spoke quickly, hearing the shuffling of nearby footsteps.

"Name." Alan requested, firmly.

"Daniel Lang. I swear, I'm a student. I'm on the soccer team." The frog spoke immediately.

"There's no fucking way you are Daniel Lang! He's a soccer GOD. He's this... handsome Asian man and in his own category of human." Alan immediately protested, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Well... I gotta say, I'm flattered..." the frog spoke with a smile. "But seriously, I am Daniel Lang! Believe me!"

"Prove it. How many goals did he score last season overall?" Alan quickly shot back, his eyes narrowing.

"12." The frog quickly answered.

"Easy question." Alan replied, crossing his arms.

"Half of those goals were with my head." The frog quickly chimed in, a smirk on its face.

Alan blinked again, bewildered. "This is fucking insane!" He whispered in shock, his head shaking.

"Listen, I can explain it all later. Please... I just need this one kiss, or I'm done for. And I can't keep that promise I just gave you." The frog pleaded.

Alan sighed once again, his head hanging. "Alright... I'll do it, but I swear if you aren't Daniel-"

"I AM Daniel. Trust me." The frog stated, firmly. "If you could just do one more thing before you kiss me..."

"Another request, Mr. Frog?" Alan shot back, annoyed.

"Mr. Lang would be nice..." The frog stated in a huff. "Open the window next to you."

Confused, Alan stood up to reach over and lift up the window carefully, which was now wide open.

"Great, now just pick me up and give me a quick kiss." The frog commanded.

"This is so crazy..." Alan spoke, looking down at the frog peeking out from his desk.

Making sure that no one was looking in his direction at all, Alan quickly reached down to grab the bullfrog into his hands, quickly pulling it up towards his face as he saw it stare back towards him. Closing his green eyes, Alan placed his lips onto the mouth of the bullfrog, feeling the cold, slimy texture of the frog's lips against his own.

That was enough for him to drop it down onto the desk with a loud noise of disgust.

"That was so damn gross!" He shouted, rubbing his mouth with the back of his hand.

That caught the attention of everyone in the classroom, who soon saw the bullfrog sitting on his desk.

"It's the frog!" Someone shouted, pointing a finger in its direction.

With that, the large crowd that had been hunting it before, began to descend on Alan's desk.

"Thanks! That was all I needed!" The frog exclaimed within Alan's earshot, before it made one large hop out of the open window.

"NO!" The entire class exclaimed in unison as they watched the frog escape.

"Alan, you idiot! Why didn't you grab it?!" A girl shouted in his face.

"Let's go outside and see if we can get it!" A guy proclaimed, seeing the entire class run out the door, Mrs. Crowley shouting at them to calm down and get back into the classroom as she chased them down the hallway.

Alan just stood there, still trying to process everything. "I... just kissed a damn frog. A talking frog." He muttered to himself.

"I told you... I'm a human." The same voice proclaimed in annoyance.

Alan looked over immediately at the sound, only for his eyes to grow wide at the sight.

From the window stood an Asian male, shirtless with a toned and muscled teenage body, in all of his 6'1" glory, with black eyes starting back towards Alan with a pleased smile.

Alan was at a loss for words.

"Your name is Alan, right?" The guy asked from the other side of the window in a hurried fashion.

Alan, still in shock, nodded slowly.

"Awesome. I'll remember that. We'll meet again, ok? It's just... I can't continue to stand out here, considering I... um..."

Alan tilted his head slightly at the hesitation. "What...?" he asked, confused.

"I do not have any clothes on." The male spoke with a bashful grin.

Alan stood frozen, his mouth agape.

"So, I'm gonna go before I get arrested and suspended for streaking." The male proclaimed, waving a hand quickly before he darted across the schoolyard. "Thanks for the kiss!" He quickly spoke before he made a mad dash, barefoot and all.

Alan just watched the guy, who really was Daniel Lang, sprinting across school grounds, naked, and couldn't help but to stare at his exposed buttocks as he did so.

"Best day ever." Alan spoke to himself with a flushed face and smile, his smartphone quietly recording the sight in his right hand.
