《》Chapter 21: Change

Today, Genesis and Bella decided to go to the movies with Bella's friends, but, sadly, Mike and Jacob were the only ones to show. Genesis didn't mind Jacob, but Mike wasn't that great of a guy. She knew he only wanted to go so he could attempt to get in either hers or her sister's pants. Like, seriously, who does that?
Genesis was the one to get Jacob of the reservation, so Bella was stuck with Mike for a bit before she got there. And, by the look on Bella's face, she was highly uncomfortable. Genesis had been able to joke around with Jacob while Bella was stuck listening to Mike try and make conversation. They talked about Quil and Embry and how they turned over to Sam's 'gang'. They had seen them cliff diving earlier, which Genesis still thought was a stupid thing to do. Genesis wanted to assure Jacob that there was nothing wrong, but she knew it wasn't her secret to tell.
When Genesis got there she let Bella go and get tickets so the two boys weren't left alone. Mike tried making small talk with Jacob, which made both Jacob and Genesis highly uncomfortable. "So, Genesis, how are you relationship wise?" Mike asked. Genesis cringed and Jacob made a face. Genesis, being the nice person she is, answered, even though it was none of his business, "Single." She said. That broke her inside. She didn't want to say that, but she couldn't exactly tell them about her and Carlisle.
Even if he were with her, she wouldn't be able to say anything. Bella came and saved the day with the tickets. Genesis gave her a thankful smile and Bella gave her a confused stare. Genesis mouthed, 'I'll tell you later' and Bella nodded. The four made there way to their seats and Genesis made Jacob sit beside Bella on her left and she sat on her right so Mike didn't get any ideas.
It was now the end of the movie and Mike was looking pale. "I think I'm gonna be sick!" He exclaimed as he ran towards the toilets. Genesis rolled her eyes. "Did he touch you?" Jacob asks abruptly. Genesis turned to him, "He put his arm around me. Pulled the whole fake yawn thing." She said.

Jacob looked pissed. "Hey, don't let him get to you. He's been hitting on me and Genesis since we joined Forks." Bella said. Just then, Mike came out of the bathroom. "I think I need to go home." He whined. Jacob turned to him angrily, "I think I should send you to a hospital instead." He gritted. Genesis noticed that he was shaking and quickly grabbed his arm.
Genesis jerked back from him. He was boiling hot. "Um, I think Jake needs to go home. I'll see you later, Bells!" Genesis hurried out. Genesis grabbed Jacob's hand and pulled him out of the theater and to her car. Jacob took a breather and slouched on the car, trying to calm his breathing.
"Jake, Jacob," Genesis grabbed his face in her hands. "Calm down. It's going to be alright. I'm going to take you back to Billy's." She said. Jacob looked at her and nodded his head. She helped him in the car and quickly got on her side. She drove off as fast as she could without getting pulled over.
She had a theory that Jacob was changing. She had asked Sam about it once, but he never really elaborated on what exactly the signs were. He probably didn't think he had to. Genesis heard Jacob's breathing start to increase again and she grabbed his hand, trying to distract him from whatever internal hell he was currently going through.
She felt kind of sad in this moment. Jacob was reminding her of Jasper and Edward and she couldn't help but let a tear slip out of her eye. Even in these situations, they couldn't leave her mind. She wondered what Carlisle would do. How would he have went about this situation? Would he have helped a werewolf? Yes. Of course he would have. A pained smile came to her lips as she squeezed Jacob's hand.
Genesis passed the reservation line and that's when all hell broke loose. Jacob started thrashing around in the passenger seat and she swerved the car over to a stop. Jacob let go of her hand and jumped out of the car. Genesis saw Sam and Paul running towards them and she ran to Jacob. "Genesis, don't-" Sam's yells we're cut off.

There she was, in front of Jacob, when he jumped forward, turning into a giant wolf. Genesis was too close, just like Emily had been. She turned around just in time and claws cut through her back. She screamed in pain and fell to the ground, blood spilling next to her.
"Genesis!" The boys screamed. They had watched in horror as Jacob tore threw her back. It wasn't enough to kill her, but it was enough to scar her. Paul dropped by Genesis's side as Sam went to Jacob. "Take her to Emily's!" Sam yelled before shifting and taking care of the new wolf.
Paul picked up Genesis and carried her in his arms. "Oh my God, Genesis," Paul started. He was freaking out. He'd only ever seen Emily's scars, he had never seen the scars made. "Paul, it's okay." She tried to reassure him. That was kind of hard when she was bleeding out literally on him, but she was trying. She wanted to close her eyes, but she knew nothing good would come out of that.
"Don't tell me it's okay! Your blood is soaking me and there are tears running down your face!" He exclaimed, frustrated that even now she was trying to help him. Paul was finally in front of Emily's house. "Emily!" Paul yelled. Emily opened the door for him and he quickly went past her and flipped Genesis over on her stomach and putting her on the table.
"Paul? What happened?!" Emily exclaimed as she grabbed her first aid kit and stitch equipment. Genesis finally turned her head, showing her face to Emily. "Hey, Em." She said weakly. Emily almost dropped her kit. "Oh my God!"
Genesis woke up in someone's bed. And, judging by the surroundings, it was Emily's. Genesis assumed it was Emily's old room, seeing as that there was nothing indicating that Sam sleeps in here too. Genesis sat up and cringed at the pain in her back. She saw that she was in some shorts and a big shirt. She had a bandage going across her upper back and left shoulder. Guess Jacob got her good.
Genesis stood and exited the room, making her way towards the kitchen. Before entering, she examined the room. She saw Sam and Emily in the kitchen area cooking. Paul, Embry, and Quil were all at the dining table. Jacob sat on the couch away from everyone with his head in his hands. His shoulders were shaking slightly, indicating that he was crying.
Genesis slipped into the room and silently sat next to Jacob. Jacob didn't look up, already knowing who it was by her scent. Genesis scooted closer to him and put a hand on his shoulder. "I don't blame you, you know." She said. Jacob lifted his head and looked at her. His eyes were red and puffy from crying. "I hurt you." He said. Genesis shook her head. "No. I hurt me. I knew you were going to shift, and I ran in front of you." She said.
"You know about us?" He asked. "I do. I met Sam and them a while back." She explained. She looked back to the people behind her. "Thanks for helping you guys." She said. "Anytime. You're family here." Emily smiled. Genesis smiled wide. She had another place to call home. But, it wouldn't ever be the same as her first one. Speaking of, "Where's Bella?" She asked.
"Jacob told her that Billy insisted on you staying over for the night." Sam said. Genesis sighed in relief. "I can't come around anymore." Jacob said. Genesis's eyes widened. "Not until he can control his temper." Sam added. Genesis slouched into the couch. "Great. Now Bella's gonna be crushed." She sighed. "Better than being scarred." Jacob said. Genesis sighed.
"I know."
