《Salty Book Review》Review #7

This was long overdue but thank you for being patient. asked for a brutally honest review so this will be as raw as I can make it while also being constructive.
Your title is attention-grabbing which is rare for a Wattpad story. It reminds me of a Netflix horror movie - kinda like the Haunting of Hill House; very original and curiosity-inducing, so kudos for that.
10/10
Fantasy doesn't seem to fit this story. It feels more like a horror story or a general fiction because when I hear fantasy, I think of fairies and magic. Then again I couldn't get past the first page because of how ridiculously boring it was so for all I know, you probably have elves roaming the halls.
4/10
Your blurb is too wordy. It's almost as if you tried your hardest to find college-level synonyms for every word possible which can easily cause someone to glaze over your book. Keep it simple: Two polar opposite friends decide to find an ancient silent soul. In doing so, they find themselves caught in the whirlpool of unfortunate events.
4/10
I didn't even understand what was happening so if characters were introduced, I missed it.

Nothing new to add since the same thing applies to here.

I felt like I was in a silent film – like everyone was speaking but I couldn't understand it. Some people use very little descriptive qualities in their books and some are so poetic that you feel trapped in the pages. This one was overboard. Again, it feels like you're trying too hard. I mean, at times it was perfectly written but for the most part, the page is smothered in Shakespearean level writing. Writing should flow easily like pouring water with a steady hand. Passage by passage, read over it and edit it so it's as simple as possible. Otherwise, you'll have readers falling off before they enter Chapter 2.

(Connection to the book) At times, it felt as if I was a prisoner locked in a dungeon. It was a good, medieval reading experience. Aside from those good qualities, I also felt tired after three paragraphs. I already explained my thoughts so I won't press any further on that.
Thank you for sending me your book! I look forward to reading another one of your works and recommend me to your friends if you're pleased with this review.

Royal Jester
Rated Mature for strong language and sexual themes ~~~Ana shrieked and frantically shielded her eyes as a very male, very naked man entered the room. "Holy fuck," she heard the man say, or rather shout, before the sound of something crashing to the floor met her ears. She spread her fingers slightly, peeking through to assess the damage. "Don't look!" She clamped her eyes closed."Who are you?" Ana resisted the urge to peek once more as she heard him move around."Better yet who the hell are you," he bit back sharply and she resisted the urge to flinch at the unnecessarily harsh tone."Do you live here?" "No," he deadpanned. Her eyebrows furrowed in slight confusion. "I'm just in a random ass college dorm walking around naked. What do you fucking think, Sherlock?" He sneered and she bit the side of her cheek to hold back the oncoming eyeroll. Leave it to the second college student Ana comes across to be a total jerk."Well then I do believe that makes me your roommate."~~~All Princess Anastasia wanted was to get through college quietly, receive her degree and enjoy the simplicity of life in the process. But, after her first day ends on bad terms with one of her new roommates, it starts a series of prank wars that completely destroys every hope she ever had of living like a normal person.Except for the fact that maybe her new roommate isn't actually so bad after all. And maybe - just maybe - he's actually kind of wonderful. ~~~

The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.*** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett.
