chapter twenty eight

lydia awoke to the quiet sound of beamers breathing, alongside the birds chirping outside of the window.

being awake before beamer was unusual for her, but as she slowly took in the information from last night she understood why. she didn't know what made him so upset in the first place as she thought that she was behaving well for him. but as one learns while being around him, you have to be very careful about what you do and say.

lydia was never one to lay in bed for awhile after she woke up, so she slowly and carefully untwined herself from the boy as she began to get out of bed. he sent some tired groans her way, which caused her to smile to herself. even when he's asleep.. he knows i'm gone. she thought this was sorta cute in a way, as sometimes he was the worlds most gentle giant and other times he was pushing her around and yelling. he was hard to make conclusions on.

once out of bed she decided to take the shower that she didn't get to take yesterday as caused by his rather large freak out. she gathered some clothes from her drawers that he had previously made her put her belongings in, always glancing at him every few seconds to make sure he hadn't awaken yet. and not too much to her surprise, he hadn't.

her shower was quick, quicker than usual. she didn't spend too much time in the bathroom as she was slightly paranoid that he would wake up and resume being angry at her from the night before. what if his crying was just an act? how could she know he was being genuine? he seemed genuine, yes, but lydia knew that sometimes people were good at lying. she was envious of this in a way, as she had always had trouble lying. it was a big deal to her.

she was pleased to see that he was still sound asleep in the same position that she had left him in when she got out of the shower. she never really got to examine him without him noticing, and even then she was timid about doing so as she was afraid he would get mad at her for being impolite and staring. but now, she had the opportunity. and she was very glad she had the chance to do so, because his features were absolutely beautiful.

she had thought men were attractive before, yes, but she had never thought that another man was pretty. and boy, beamer was pretty. she started to think that him being unaware of just how attractive he was almost made him even more attractive to her. he never tried to be pretty, he simply just was. she silently wished that another boy would see her the same way she saw beamer, but she understood that when the time was right then she would receive that from another person.

since he was fast asleep and she didn't know what to do with herself once more, she came to the conclusion that she would make them breakfast. she didn't know when he was going to wake up, but she knew that when he did his head would probably hurt by a ton. plus lydia had her fair share of making breakfast for others, as her and her mother would often make breakfast for the family on saturday mornings.

while she stirred some peppermint tea on the stove for him, she began recalling last nights events. she almost thought she could've been dreaming the entire thing, but the strong smell of alcohol still reeking off of beamer this morning confirmed that they were actual events that took place. as she came to the thought about what beamer said last night, she began to wonder if she really took it the way that he meant. she was very used to her past friends telling her that they loved her rather quickly, and she was aware that they were saying it in a friendly manner.

sometimes you meet a friend and love them right away, and other times you are born into a family that you are almost forced to love right away. her family always said they loved her as well, and she began to think that maybe beamer considered her apart of his close friends or family. she hadn't ever heard of the word "love" in a different way before, so she didn't completely understand what he meant when he said it to her. he reallt loved her, but she didn't know that. she thought he was being friendly, so she didn't really think any more on the subject.

once beamers tea began to whistle, she carefully took it off the stove and poured it into a cute little coffee mug. the mug read, on it in paint, and lydia quietly chuckled and smiled to herself at the child like handwriting. this made her realize that she didn't really know anything about beamer or his family, but she was almost too afraid to ask. she decided that she would do it when the time is right.

"little?" she heard his quiet concerned voice come from the bedroom.

"lydia!" she suddenly heard him frantically shouting, before she even had time to answer his calling out the first time. and before she knew it, within a few very short split seconds beamer was running out of the room in a tired panic.

"i'm right here beam," she softly called to him as she watched his shoulders drop in relief.

"baby, don't do that. i thought you left-" he began to explain.

"headache tea?" she responded, holding the tea out sending him the clue to come up towards her.

"tea?" he questioned as he began to walk towards her.

"yes, tea! your head must be killing you," she answered, continuing to hold the cup out in front of him.

he didn't know how to react to this, as no one had ever been so kind to him besides his grandmother. it would take him awhile to get used to another person looking out for him and his well-being, and this made him feel as though he didn't deserve her. she does everything for him, she always tries her best to please him, she's so good for him, and all she gets in return is his anger and coldness towards her. he truly believed that she was too good for him, but nothing would ever convince him to let her go.

"thank you princess, you're so good." he cooed, gently taking the mug of tea from her hands and planting a kiss on her forehead.

"what would you like for breakfast?" she excitedly asked as she propped herself up against the counter.

"no making breakfast today, baby. it's another you and i day, and we're going to relax today."

"but we did that yesterday," she whined with a slight pout.

"come on, little. let's go lay down" he gently replied, taking her hand into his free one.

"but i don't want to beam," she whined further.

"daddy wants to, little."
