"Come on Decs" Ant sighed "please don't be like this"
"Like what?" Dec asked angrily.
"Like this" Ant repeated "I'm sorry, maybe I didn't think this through properly.I didn't think it would be a big deal"
"You didn't think proposing is a big deal?" Dec frowned.
"Well, yeah,of course that's a big deal" Ant replied "but I thought it would be fine for you to be here with us"
"What?" Dec moaned "sitting in the middle of you and your girlfriend, while you get all romantic with her?yeah that's fine"
"Declan, stop it" Ant sighed,as the plane hit some light turbulence, causing him to clutch the arm rests nervously "you're acting like a child"
"Stop what?" Dec stubbornly asked.
"You know what" Ant sighed "I've said I'm sorry, but you really have no reason to be upset,it's only going to be one afternoon or evening out of our holiday where I'm going to whisk Lisa off somewhere,it's not going to affect the rest of the holiday"
"Isn't it?" Dec frowned.
"No,it isn't" Ant replied, glancing over his shoulder to check his girlfriends whereabouts. The turbulence was steadily becoming worse and the captain had ordered everyone to return to their seats and fasten their seatbelts.
"She's coming back" Ant stated,as he spied Lisa making her way back down the aisle "we'll have to carry this conversation on later"
"Nothing more to say" Dec snapped.
Ant sighed to himself, deciding it would probably be for the best not to continue the conversation right now anyway. He knew how stubborn Dec could be,but hopefully he would come around and see that this wouldn't affect their holiday and it was only going to be a good thing.
Ant was disappointed and hurt by Decs reaction though,he genuinely thought Dec would be delighted for him and enjoy being a part of it,but Ant had really misjudged the situation,he only hoped it would all turn out ok in the end.He just wanted a lovely holiday with his best friend and girlfriend, who would then hopefully return back home as his fiancèe
He shook his head despairingly and closed his eyes, gripping his arm rests even tighter as the turbulence worsened.
"It's alright babe" Lisa whispered gently as she took her seat, noticing Ants tense posture "it's just turbulence,no need to worry, planes go through this every day"
"Yeah" Ant whispered, still keeping his eyes tightly shut "I know,I'll be fine"
Thankfully the turbulence didn't last too long and Lisa decided to get up to stretch her legs again, luckily she started chatting to another passenger which gave Ant a little bit of time to talk to Dec some more, but before he had a chance to say anything,a small voice spoke up.
"Sorry" Dec muttered sheepishly.
"What?" Ant asked surprised.
"I said I'm sorry" Dec sighed,he had been thinking about the unkind things he'd said previously "for the way I reacted, maybe I was being selfish,I just wish you had run it by me first"
"Yeah,I wish I had too" Ant nodded "I'm sorry,I just didn't think it through properly, guess I just thought you'd be happy for me...for us"
"I am" Dec replied quickly "of course I'm happy for you both,it's brilliant news,I just wasn't expecting to be a part of your proposal that's all, that's between you two"
"Decs" Ant laughed "you do realise you're not actually going to be there when I propose don't you?"

"Of course I do" Dec replied "but don't you just think all this is a bit weird?ya know?bringing your mate on your romantic holiday?"
"Declan,we've been through this" Ant sighed "me and Lisa do have some self control ya know,we're not going to be all over each other every minute of the day"
"Good" Dec snapped.
"Come on kidda" Ant smiled affectionately "it's just gonna be the same as when the three of us hang out together at home, just with better weather"
"I guess" Dec grinned.
"Ha,made you smile" Ant pointed out.
"Yeah,I guess you did" Dec replied "I am happy for you though, you and Lisa are just so perfect for each other"
"Yeah,I think we are" Ant smiled "thanks Decs"
Dec had now decided to move on from the doubts that were plaguing him,he had no choice but to get over his initial displeasure and he was genuinely happy for Ant and Lisa. This would be an amazing holiday and he didn't want his moods to spoil that.
"So how are you going to do it?" Dec asked curiously.
"Do what?" Ant enquired.
"Propose obviously you eejit" Dec laughed.
"Oh that" Ant grinned "not sure yet.Romantic meal or picnic, something like that?"
"A PICNIC?" Dec laughed loudly "you've come all the way to Dubai to propose to your girlfriend and you're just gonna take her on a picnic?hardly being wined and dined is she?"
"Hey" Ant replied with mock offence "shut ya face, she loves picnics,we both do,I'll just find a gorgeous spot for it,take some champagne, pop the question and voila...I'm practically a married man"
"Very grown up" Dec laughed "never thought I'd see the day,but aren't you forgetting one thing?"
"What?" Ant asked curiously.
"The alcohol laws" Dec reminded him "you can't drink in public"
"Oh yeah" Ant laughed "forgot about that.Oh well, orange juice then"
"Party animal" Dec smiled "at least you'll both be sober so you'll be able to remember it,every cloud eh?"
"Yeah" Ant smiled "We can always celebrate in style back at the hotel later. You know,I never thought I'd see the day either, but I love the idea of it ya know?getting married, settling down, having kids one day"
"Yeah I know you do" Dec replied "um...I guess I haven't said congratulations yet,so congratulations"
"Better wait and see if she says yes first" Ant replied, looking over his shoulder "shhh, she's coming back"
A few hours later all three of them were settled into their joint, luxury suite.
"It's so gorgeous here" Lisa smiled, looking out from the balcony over the massive hotel swimming pool.
"Yeah it is" Dec smiled.
What followed was to be the most amazing, perfect holiday any of them had ever had,All three decided that it was their favourite place they'd visited so far.The hotel was perfect,as was the resort, the weather and all the staff who did everything within their power to make sure the trios stay was absolutely ideal.
"Tomorrow is the day Decs" Ant whispered as they lounged on sunbeds on the beautiful beach one afternoon.
"Really?" Dec smiled.
"Yep" Ant replied "see that gorgeous girl frolicking in the ocean over there?tomorrow she will agree to be my wife"
"Let's hope so" Dec replied "so what's the plan?"
"The plan is Declan..." Ant answered happily "you know that picturesque little area with the palm trees we discovered the other day while Lisa was having a massage?"

"Yeah?" Dec replied.
"Well,I've decided that's the perfect spot" Ant grinned "I'll take her over that way,I've already asked the hotel kitchen if they'll prepare a picnic for us and they said they will"
"Sounds great" Dec smiled.
"Yeah" Ant nodded "I just want to get on with it now.Um...Decs,you'll be alright on your own for a few hours won't you?"
"Yeah,of course I will" Dec smiled "I'll probably just hang out by the swimming pool until you get back or have a nap"
"You and your naps" Ant laughed.
"Love a good nap I do" Dec smiled "it's not like I get the opportunity that often"
"Well,I hope you have a nice afternoon, whatever you do?" Ant replied.
The next day,Ant was nervously getting his things together for his day at the beach.Dec had feigned sickness as an excuse for not going.
"Are you sure you're going to be ok Dec?" Lisa asked concerned.
"Yeah,I'm fine Lisa, honestly" Dec replied "just had a bit too much sun yesterday I think, you know how sensitive I am to it"
"Yeah, silly boy" Lisa scolded in a motherly tone "you know,we can stay here and look after you if you're not feeling great, the beach can wait"
"NO" Ant and Dec replied loudly.
"Alright" Lisa laughed "keep your hair on,both of you,it was just a suggestion, don't want you to suffer back here on your own"
"I won't be suffering honestly" Dec smiled "thanks Lisa, but I just want to sleep,I'm sure I'll feel better afterwards, might even make my way down to the pool later"
"Ok,if you're sure" Lisa enquired.
"Of course I'm sure" Dec yawned "now you go and have a lovely day"
As they all said their goodbyes,Ant turned back towards Dec after Lisa had left the room and gave him a thumbs up.
"Good luck" Dec mouthed sleepily.
He actually did fancy going back to sleep for a while,so that is exactly what he did.
He was surprised when he awoke later and the bedside clock showed that he had slept for over three hours.
He felt better for it though,he'd obviously been a lot more tired than he realised. He made his way out to the lounge area of the suite,no sign of Ant and Lisa yet.He didn't really expect there to be though, not yet anyway,he guessed they'd probably spend the best part of the day out together.
Dec wondered how it was going and if Ant had popped the question yet.He smiled to himself as he imagined Ants nervousness,he hoped he had done it soon after they arrived, just so he could relax a little.
Dec spent the afternoon taking it easy around the spacious pool area, making sure he stuck to a shady spot, drinking cocktails and chatting with other holiday makers, many of them being Brits who knew exactly who he and Ant were.Dec didn't mind though,he liked talking to people and posing for photographs,he had to bite his tongue when they all inevitably asked where Ant was.
He wanted to tell all of them that he was proposing to his girlfriend, but obviously he would never actually do that,he was just excited.
"Declan" a faint voice wafted over Decs head.
"DECLAN" the voice snapped loudly.
"What?" Dec asked sleepily, confused for a moment.
"Declan" Ant smiled, perching himself on the edge of Decs sunbed "looks like you were nodding off there"
"Oh,hi Ant,hi Lisa" Dec smiled, glancing at his watch "you're back?yeah I think I was for a moment, don't know why?I had a great nap after you guys left this morning"
"Can't handle the heat can ya kidda?" Ant smiled gently.
"How was the beach?" Dec asked, totally ignoring Ants question.
"It was brilliant" Lisa beamed, wiggling the stunning ring that was adorning her engagement finger in front of Decs face "as if you didn't know"
"A little bird might have mentioned it" Dec laughed "you obviously said yes then?"
"Of course I said yes" Lisa grinned "it was so perfect.A lovely picnic on a gorgeous beach with the man I love"
"But I wasn't there" Dec grinned.
"Shut up" Ant laughed.
"Congratulations both of you" Dec smiled, hugging the newly engaged couple tightly.
"Thanks Dec" Lisa smiled "now I have some phone calls to make, can't wait to tell everyone back home that I'm getting married"
"She's gonna start planning the most elaborate wedding the minute we land at Heathrow, you know that don't you?" Dec laughed.
"Ah,good for her" Ant smiled "every girl dreams of a big white wedding don't they?and what my girl wants,my girl shall have"
"I am genuinely happy for you" Dec smiled.
"Thanks Decs" Ant replied happily "I was so nervous though,I could barely get the words out"
"I bet" Dec laughed "but you did and you're getting married"
"Yeah I am" Ant smiled.
"When?" Dec enquired.
"Probably next year" Ant informed him "we want a summer wedding,July maybe, just hope the weather cooperates"
"Can't guarantee that in England unfortunately" Dec frowned.
"Well, maybe you can get your priest brother to have a word with him upstairs?"Ant laughed.
"I'm sure Dermott will do his best for you" Dec replied cheekily.
Once the group arrived home,Ant and Dec were immediately thrown into their busy work schedule once again, while Lisa busied herself planning her and Ants wedding.
They had decided on July 22nd the following year for their fairytale wedding and only hoped the sun would do it's one job that day and make an appearance.
Lisa made it a mission to involve as many of her friends and family as she possibly could in the planning, getting their opinions on just about everything, the venue, the dress, the caterers, the cake, amongst many other things, she wanted everything to be just perfect as every bride does!
Ant was just as excited, but was happy to let Lisa have the final decision on everything,he just loved seeing her so happy.
As Dec was hanging out at Ant and Lisas house one day,the conversation inevitably turned to the wedding once again.
"It's going to be the best day of our lives" Ant smiled, looking at Lisa lovingly.
"Yeah it will" she agreed.
"I'll be marrying the woman I love with my best friend at my side" Ant beamed.
"Umm...what now?" Dec questioned.
"What do you mean 'what now'?" Ant asked confused.
"Well" Dec continued "you said I'll be at your side, does that mean I'm your best man?"
"Of course you're my best man" Ant frowned "why wouldn't you be?"
"Well, have you actually asked him?" Lisa cut in.
"Er...no" Ant mumbled "I guess I haven't,I just assumed he would be"
"I wouldn't want to be that presumptuous" Dec smiled.
"Declan" Ant laughed "of course you're my best man,who else would it be?"
"Dunno" Dec shrugged "I did wonder that myself as you hadn't asked me"
"I'm sorry Decs" Ant grinned, placing an arm around Decs shoulder "please will you be my best man?"
"Absolutely" Dec smiled.
"Good" Ant replied "better get working on your speech then hadn't you?"
"There's plenty of time for that" Dec grinned "there's something way more important to arrange"
"Oh yeah?" Ant laughed "what's that then?"
"Well" Dec smiled, with a cheeky glint in his eye "you do know that as I'm your best man,it will be my job to arrange your stag night"
Ant immediately clasped his hands together in a praying manner and looked up despairingly at the ceiling.
"Oh God,please help me!"
