《Baby of the family》part 72

Dec played the part of a nervous auditionee perfectly. It wasn't much of a stretch for his acting skills as he genuinely was extremely nervous.
He shuffled from foot to foot and looked at the floor awkwardly as Simon,Paula and Randy began to question him.He was so terrified that Simon would recognise him,but at least there hadn't been any giveaway signs of that yet.
The plan was working so far and he was allowed to bring his 'brother' in the form of Ant into the room,to help calm his nerves.
Eventually Ant and Dec got stuck into the track, they thought it would be highly amusing to sing one of Paulas own songs.
So as they sang, rapped and danced ridiculously to 'Opposites Attract' Paula couldn't help but have complete hysterics at the boys antics.Ant and Dec weren't sure if she was faking it or it was genuine laughter, but either way, they were just happy she was going along with it.
Randy just sat there with an amused grin on his face, but Simons expression was the best. The look of complete bewilderment at what was being presented in front of him was classic.
He'd seen some pretty rubbish acts while working on American Idol, but these two lads were really taking the biscuit. The rapping, the singing, the dancing,it was all bloody awful, but fascinating at the same time.
Usually he would have stopped an act he didn't like within the first ten seconds of the performance and send the disappointed hopefuls on their merry way,but something was stopping him this time.
Simon couldn't quite put his finger on it,he didn't quite know what it was. These two were odd, that was for certain and there was something not quite right about them, but he couldn't quite fathom what it was or why he didn't feel right raising his hand to tell them they were done,he just couldn't bring himself to do it.
So he just watched on in amazement, the expression on his face barely altering throughout.
Ant and Dec did their best to avoid eye contact with him, convinced that he would see straight through their disguises.
It was hard to keep a straight face though.Really the two of them just wanted to collapse into fits of laughter at Simons confused look.
Eventually,as the unique performance came to an end, with Dec proudly doing the 'worm' across the floor,Simon seemed to have a light bulb moment and a huge, disbelieving grin spread across his face.
"Alright guys" he laughed as he realised he'd been had "ok guys,ok"
He shook his head fondly as he realised that it was in fact, his very good friends performing outrageously in front of him.
Some hilarious banter followed as Ant and Dec came clean and revealed their true selves, not that there was much to be revealed. They were both still convinced that their disguises weren't that great, scruffy beards and bandanas didn't really do that much to cover up their cute faces and beards and baggy clothes definately weren't the most cunning of disguises after all,but apparently Simon was oblivious.
"But can we go to Hollywood though?" Dec joked.
"Yes" Simon laughed as Ant and Dec threw their arms up in mock celebration.

"Brilliant" Simon grinned in disbelief, still completely gobsmacked at what had just unfolded in front of him "what are you doing here?"
"Came to brighten up your day" Ant announced as Simon rose from his seat to hug his friends.
The prank couldn't have gone any better,it had been amazing and Ant and Dec couldn't quite believe that they had actually pulled it off.
Although when Simon immediately took a break and invited the boys back to his dressing room,he insisted he knew it was them all along.
"You so didn't" Dec laughed.
"I absolutely did" Simon stated "I knew it was you the minute you walked into the audition room"
"You're such a liar Simon Cowell" Ant grinned "we know you and if you'd known it was us,you would have said something straight away"
"Well" Simon smiled "you'd obviously put a lot of time and effort into it,so I didn't want to spoil it for everyone,so I just decided to go along with it"
"Liar" Dec replied seriously.
"Alright" Simon replied "I am lying,I didn't know it was you two really,I just didn't want to admit I'd been had,I'll get you back though"
"I'm sure you will" Ant laughed "it was good though wasn't it?you must admit,it was a pretty fantastic prank"
"Yeah,it was very good" Simon nodded "well done boys"
"Was my idea" Ant announced proudly.
"Was it now?" Simon asked.
"Umm...maybe it wasn't" Ant backtracked, afraid of just what Simon might be plotting as his revenge "it was Decs idea"
"Oi" Dec laughed "no it wasn't"
"Alright guys" Simon replied "it doesn't matter,it was so brilliant that maybe I'll let it go,it will make great telly, that's for sure"
"Yeah,it will" Dec grinned "so,now we're here,we expect you to wine and dine us and take us to the best restaurants"
"Ok" Simon replied "it will be my pleasure, where are you staying?"
"Oh,just at a nice little hotel not too far from here" Ant smiled.
"Well, not any longer" Simon informed them "come and stay with me"
"Don't you have to work?" Dec questioned.
"Yeah, but only for a few hours each day" simon stated "then I'm done.We can hang out by the pool,I've got an amazing private chef who can rustle up the best grub"
"Sounds great" Dec replied "but now we've completed what we came here for,we've only got a couple of days left before we fly home"
"That's ok" Simon smiled kindly "a couple of days is better than nothing"
"Ok" Dec nodded "we'll get Ali to check us out of the hotel"
"Ali's here too?" Simon asked.
"Yeah,of course she is" Dec smiled "she's our manager, where we go she goes"
"Well, not quite" Ant laughed "she doesn't live with either of us"
"She can come too" Simon offered.
"Great" Dec smiled happily,he loved the idea of having Ali there too,he had really clicked with her since she had started managing them and they all just got on so well.
Unfortunately,Ali had other ideas. She thought she would be in the way while the three men bonded and hung out.Ant and Dec did their best to try and convince her that that wasn't the case, but to no avail. The idea of listening to the three men discussing football and other 'boy' things didn't really appeal to her and she actually loved it at the luxury hotel,so was quite happy to stay there anyway.

"I'll be fine boys" Ali smiled as Ant and Dec said their goodbyes, while they waited for Simons car to pick them up "you go and have a great time and I'll see you in a couple of days"
"Ok" they sighed together.
Ali kissed them both on the cheek.
"You'll be picked up at 5pm sharp on Thursday to get to the airport ok?" She stated.
"Ok" Ant replied.
"Declan?" Ali frowned "make sure you're ready,DO NOT be late or you'll be swimming home"
"Alright Mam" Dec grinned "such a nag honestly"
"Have a great time and say hi to Simon for me" she smiled.
"Will do,bye Ali" Dec replied.
"Wish she was coming with us" Dec frowned as they sat in the back of Simons chauffeur driven car.
"Ah,give the lass a break" Ant smiled "you heard her,she wants to just chill back there, not hang out with us boring old farts"
"You speak for yourself" Dec sighed "I just like hanging out with her, she's a laugh"
"Yeah,I know you do" Ant replied,he had wondered for a while if Dec had started to develop feelings for their manager.
There would be no point in asking him about it though.Ant knew his friend would be defensive and deny everything, insisting theirs was a purely professional relationship.
Ant wasn't opposed to the idea of Dec and Ali getting together, but it could be awkward for their working relationship,so it was probably best not to persue it and Ant worried that Dec had turned his attention to Ali just because she was there, she was convenient and he didn't want either of them getting hurt.
Ant desperately wanted to see Dec settle down with someone again.Dec would never admit it,but Ant knew he was lonely. He hoped the right someone would come into Decs life soon, but it wasn't to be just yet.
The couple of days they spent at Simons amazing Malibu home were fantastic.
Simon spoilt them rotten, having his staff cater to their every whim,he wished he didn't have to work while they were his guests, but that was just the way it had to be.
They all wished the boys could have stayed longer.
"I insist you both come back for an all expenses paid holiday for at least a couple of weeks" Simon insisted as they sat around his swimming pool one afternoon, after he'd finished work, lapping up the glorious Californian sunshine.
"All expenses paid?" Dec winked "you mean you're actually going to put your hand in your pocket for once?"
Ant and Dec loved to tease Simon about being stingy, even though he was actually very generous,it was just a fun way to wind him up.
"Yes,I will put my hand in my pocket" Simon laughed "come over when you have some time off"
"It's a date" Ant replied smiling "guess what?"
"What?" Dec and Simon asked.
"Spoke to Lisa last night" Ant continued "we're thinking about going to Dubai for our next holiday"
"Oh,Dubai is amazing" Simon replied "you'll love it,it's unbelievably hot though"
"Hotter than here?" Dec frowned as he smothered himself in even more suncream.
"Yeah,of course it is,much hotter" Simon nodded "you'll love it though"
"Wanna come Decs?" Ant grinned.
"What?" Dec asked "why are you inviting me on your holiday with your girlfriend?"
"Because we want you to come" Ant shrugged "we both do"
"Won't that be a bit weird?" Dec pondered "I could understand it if I had a girlfriend to bring along too,but I don't,might feel like a bit of a gooseberry like"
"Declan" Ant laughed "you're round our house all the time,do you feel like a gooseberry then?"
"Guess not" Dec sighed.
"Come on kidda" Ant smiled "we both want you to come,it'll be fun,you deserve a holiday as much as we do"
"Yeah you do Dec" Simon chimed in "you should go and enjoy yourself and Ant and Lisa might be the only people willing to put up with you"
"Charming" Dec laughed.
"So you'll come?" Ant asked hopefully.
"Yeah,I'll come" Dec smiled "they'd better have air conditioning everywhere though"
"Of course they do" Simon laughed "but be careful where you drink, stick to your hotel, you can get chucked in jail for drinking where you shouldn't over there and a pretty boy like you wouldn't last five minutes in prison Declan"
"Shut up" Dec laughed, although he did make a mental note to himself to memorise the countries strict drinking laws
And so a few months later, when their work schedule allowed it,Ant,Dec and Lisa were on a flight to the Middle Eastern country.
"Guess what Decs?" Ant whispered as Lisa got up to go to the toilet.
"What?" Dec answered curiously.
"This is it" Ant stated proudly.
"This is what?" Dec frowned.
Ant proceeded to retrieve his small holdall that he had placed in the overhead luggage area, checking constantly over his shoulder in case Lisa came back.
"Look" he grinned,as he took out and opened a small jewellery box, revealing a stunning engagement ring "I'm going to propose to Lisa while we're in Dubai"
"Really?" Dec asked surprised "how long have you had this planned?"
"Months" Ant replied "since we first talked about coming here when we were at Simons.Actually, before then,I specifically thought of Dubai as the place I wanted to do it"
"What the hell?" Dec snapped.
"What?" Ant asked, shocked at Decs sudden abrupt tone.
"So" Dec sighed grumpily "you actually invited me on a holiday you arranged specifically because you wanted to propose to your girlfriend?"
"Umm..." Ant muttered "yeah,I guess I did"
"And you don't see anything wrong with this picture?" Dec quizzed.
"Er...no" Ant stuttered, not really sure what Decs problem was with the situation.
"Let me spell it out for you then" Dec replied.
"You and your girlfriend are on a romantic holiday where you're going to ask her to marry you?" Dec continued "And you actually thought it was appropriate to invite another guy along?"
"Yes" Ant cringed, now beginning to see it from Decs point of view.
"Well,thanks for nothing" Dec snapped.
"I've now got two weeks of being a third wheel!"
