《Growing Attached To My Competition ✔️》Chapter 14 - Closing Up

Adrian was rushed off his feet as he was stuck at work with lots of hungry customers. It was just a random Wednesday night and it seemed like everybody was craving pizza.

One of the customers waved his hand to signal Adrian. "Be right there with you sir." He told him after serving the table across the room.

Saying that out loud didn't stop him from calling Adrian again. "Excuse me we've been waiting ages for our pizza, how much longer do we have to wait?" The older man grumbled.

Taking an exhausted breath, "Sir we're working as quick as we can to serve everyone here."

"If that's true then my food would be here!" He protested.

Adrian forced a fake smile before walking away from the man. "I'll be with you in a moment sir..."

He was heading towards the bar to fill out someone's drink order when the bell rang.

"I'm sorry we can't take in any more customers." He raised his voice over his own shoulder.

"I'm just here to collect my pizza I had already ordered."

Adrian recognised his voice and turned to see Brody who was already offering a gentle smile.

'Now's really not the time to feel sexually frustrated with him around again...'

"Brody! Sorry I didn't know it was you. Your pepperoni, sausage and olive pizza should be ready any minute." Adrian informed him.

"You remembered my order even without checking with me?" Brody asked slightly captivated.

Adrian ignored that oversight on knowing what Brody liked on his pizza, remembering when they had texted each other random stuff about food and what not.

Brody took a look around the restaurant. "How come you said you weren't taking in any more customers? It's barely past 9pm."

Adrian recalled tonight's events. "The manager had to take one of the chefs to the emergency room because she some how managed to slice her finger off using the cutting board."

Brody expressed sympathy pain. "Ouch. That does sound bad."

Adrian nodded along as he continued pouring drinks. "And then the other waiter went home throwing up at the sight of the blood. He said he has this condition that makes him very queasy at the sight of blood."

"Really?"

"It was pretty disturbing how much blood came out to be fair." Adrian grimaced at remembering the scene that unfolded.

It all happened so fast when the knife swiftly cut through her finger and the blood had gushed onto her jacket. Screams, panic and vomit ensued as the staff members fumbled around to control the panic inside the kitchen and outside the kitchen. They had rushed into the car when Adrian was forced take control and finish the rest of his shift.

The same customer that has been bothering Adrian the past 5 minutes waved his hand again. "I said I'll be with you in a minute!" Adrian exploded.

Another customer approached the bar. "How much longer do we have to wait? My daughter is starving."

At the same time the smoke alarm briefly went off in the kitchen. It was loud enough for everyone at the bar to hear it, but not loud enough to create a panic and cause an evacuation.

The last remaining chef shouted from the kitchen. "Adrian can you help me back here please?"

Adrian facepalmed as he groaned out of frustration and exhaustion. "Coming!" Adrian tiredly said out loud, however still not moving from his spot.

"Sounds like you can do with a helping hand?" Brody offered.

Adrian slowly nodded his head as he was taking a deep breath. "I just need a quick break before I go running around the restaurant again."

Brody walked to the door and flipped the open sign to close. He walked behind Adrian and yanked the apron he was wearing and tied it to himself.

"Wait were you being serious?" Adrian asked.

Brody motioned for him to move. "Come on, the sooner we serve everyone, the sooner you can get your break, which is actually going home before your head explodes."

All the customers were eventually fed, satisfied and had left the restaurant. Bills were paid and tips were left, but they still had to clean up the mess. Adrian had already told the chef they could go home, confident he could do the rest before he realised the state of this place.

Being the gentlemen he always is, Brody had already started to help clean up.

When Adrian came out of the kitchen he was holding up Brody's reheated pizza. He motioned Brody to sit down at the table before he served him.

"As a token of appreciation, with half of the tips, here. Eat, while I clean the rest of this place." Adrian told him.

Brody had a smile on his face as he shook his head. He grabbed Adrian's hand before he could walk off. "Come on, eat with me. We can clean up after. Also I'm pretty sure I was hearing your stomach rumble for like the past 20 minutes."

"Don't have to tell me twice!" Adrian expressed out loud. He was already reaching for a slice and bit into it before he had even sat down.

The night started out rough for Adrian but with Brody around and helping out, it made it so much better.

Brody was stacking chairs on the table when Adrian started to really think about him again, because that's all he did when Brody was around.

'I really, really do like him. There's no doubt about it and especially now, I want him.'

Adrian saw Brody look at him and offer a small smile before finishing his task.

'That guy can make me do anything with his smile...'

Adrian was brought out of his thinking moment when Brody threw his apron at him. "Hey I'm not cleaning up on my own!" Chop chop!" Brody joked with him, grinning at him again and sending butterflies with just that one look.

'There's that smile again'

~~~~~~~~~~~
"Well I didn't expect this night to turn into me working but it was fun!" Brody said as Adrian began turning the lights of the room. He then locked up the money in the safe and made sure the back door was locked.
They both made their way to the door. "Thanks for helping me tonight," Adrian graciously thanked Brody. "You saved my life, again. And again!" He pointed out.
Brody laughed at that. "I'm like a knight in shining armour! Except this time I was wearing an apron and serving pizza."
Adrian smiled back. "You really are..." He said with all seriousness.
"I guess I just have a knack for it I guess. I'm just selfless and amazing like that." Brody boasted.
'You really are...'
Adrian couldn't hold it back anymore. He couldn't take this metronome like feeling, heart constantly racing because of the person standing in front of him. This amazing, caring, sweet, beautiful on the inside and the outside of a person.
Adrian pulled Brody towards him and kissed him.
