Emilia rushed to the cockpit, hugging Leia tightly, celebrating there victory.
"Was that you? The last two?" Leia asked.
"Yeah." Emilia smiled. "So much for not needing our advice or whatever he said, huh?" She smirked, hugging her friend again.
"Not a bad bit of rescuing, huh? You know, sometimes I even amaze myself." Han interrupted them.
"That doesn't sound too hard. Besides, it was me that shot the last two, so I beat you." Emilia smirked at him, placing her hand on her hip.
"I didn't know it was a competition, Princess." Han smirked back.
"It is now that I won." She smiled slightly, before turning it into a smirk. "Anyway, they let us go. It's the only explanation for the ease of our escape. It's hardly a win as a whole."
"Easy. You call that easy?" Han asked, as he sat in one of the pilot chairs, Emilia sat opposite him, in the other chair, not noticing that Leia had left.
"Their tracking us! Everything points to that conclusion." She exclaimed.
"Not this ship, sister." Han retorted.
"Oh so now I'm 'sister'?" She raised her eyebrows. Emilia shook her head in frustration. "At least the information in R2 is still intact." She added.
"What's so important? What's he carrying?"
"From what I know, the technical readouts of that battle station. Leia and I only hope that when the data is analyzed, a weakness can be found. It's not over yet!" She exclaimed.
"It is for me, sister! Look, I ain't in this for your revolution, and I'm not in it for you, Princess. I expect to be well paid. I'm in it for the money!" He pointed at her as he spoke.
"You needn't worry about your reward. If money is all that you love, then that's what you'll receive! I'll make sure of it." She started to walk out. She turned back around and addressed Han. "How are you so selfish? Only caring about yourself." She angrily stomped out, pushing past Luke as she went. She sat down next to Leia, huffing in annoyance. "God he pisses me off so much." She groaned, slamming her head down onto the table.

"It seems to me like he likes you." Leia spoke, laying her hand on her friends shoulder. Slowly, Emilia lifted her head, glaring at the Princess.
"What?" She shrieked.
"When we were about to die in the garbage shoot, the way he looked at you. It was self explanatory." Leia explained.
"You're insane." Emilia replied, shaking her head. "He doesn't like me in any way, we can barely stay in the same room for more than a minute before arguing." Emilia then realised that she hadn't once asked Leia how she was.
"Leia... you've just lost your family and friends, you're home planet. How are you?" Emilia asked quietly, scared that the girl would freak out.
"I'm fine, Emilia." She replied. Emilia didn't say anything but hug her best friend, tightly, knowing she needed it.

Carus - Libertas
participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge and also having a go at NaNoWriMo this November. This was a first draft published as it was written for Nanowrimo November 2020. A little rough around the edges, I hope to come back and edit at some point, and then continue the story on. In the grand scheme of things Elias was nothing special. Which was why he was surprised by a random company on a new colony planet buying out his contract. That was the problem with the large companies that ruled the colonies, once they owned your contract, they owned you. Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.
