Joan and Marina are alone

Joan - You thought you killed me but I'm sorry to disappoint you, I was just in a coma and was buried alive

Marina - Mores the pity

Joan - You also tried to kill me when you ran me over that time, there is no way I can let you get away with any of it, trying to kill me once is unacceptable enough, twice just takes the piss big style

Marina - You can't fight me, you're back where you belong, a prisoner, and you are in my prison now. I'm governor now at last

Joan - That won't last long, you're bound to mess it up for yourself or I'll mess it up for you

Marina - I should have been governor months ago anyway, we both know that. I was supposed to be governor after the Blackmoor riot and Eileen double-crossed me and your pardon was illegal and you had no right to be free and be governor. you're back where you belong as a prisoner and I'm also where I belong and deserve to be so if you had any sense of humility left you'd accept it with a bit of dignity and not keep trying to fight, you'll only lose anyway

Joan - Pfft! you can forget about me ever accepting it, I never will and I'll fight you until I am satisfied I have made you pay, I want revenge and I bloody well intend to get it

Marina - I'll take you to H Block, I am sure your old mate Bea Smith will be pleased to see you

In the Recroom, Bea and Judy are sitting down together when Marina arrives with Joan

Marina - Here she is ladies, another one back from the dead!

Bea and Judy look surprised

Marina - I'll leave you to settle in Joan

Marina leaves Joan alone with the women

Bea - So you're not dead Joan?

Joan - That's right. now we've both returned from the dead Smith, something we have in common

Judy - What are your plans now that you're back?

Joan - Nothing that needs concern you Bryant so don't worry, you'll hardly even notice I am here

Bea - You mean to tell me that you won't be planning to cause trouble?

Joan - Oh I'll be causing trouble but not for you, only for Marina and Marie, they are the only two I am interested in now, no one else. I got over my feud with you months ago

Bea - Same here, I forgave you when you saved Chloe's life

They nod at each other

Later on, Bea and Judy are alone in their cell

Judy - Sure we can trust Fergo?

Bea - I think so this time, anyway, if she proves to be trouble I'll sort her out quickly enough

Judy - She said she wants to get Marina

Bea - yeah and she can do what she wants with Marina, she is corrupt so Ferguson will do us a favour if she gets rid of her

Judy - Thought anymore on what Vera said to us?

Bea - Yes, I still want to make Sandra suffer but we definitely need to watch Marina too

Judy - But do you think we should stop torturing Sandra?

Bea - No way, she deserves it. I just hope Bennett can keep her mouth shut

Judy - I guess she probably will, I think Donovan scared her pretty badly by threatening Cassie

Marie arrives in the room

Bea - And what do you want Winter?

Marie - Come to tell you about my plans to be top dog!

Bea - In your dreams, I'm the top dog and not about to give it up for a bitch like you!

Marie - We'll see about that, I love a good fight

Ann is with Marina and looks upset

Ann - I can't believe that wicked murdering bitch Ferguson is still alive after all

Marina - I know, I was terribly shocked too

Ann - Meg is bound to be upset when she sees her too

Marina - Yes, I know what she did to your son and daughter, Paul and Pippa, and to Meg's son, Marty, what a truly wicked woman she is. At least your Paul survived the carnage!

Ann - Why she always comes out on top is what makes me mad

Marina - She is not entirely on top now, she may not be dead but she is at least a prisoner again like she should be now that that ridiculous and criminal pardon has been reversed

Ann - Yes, at least that's one thing to be thankful for

Marina - And with me as governor she won't get an easy time of it, you can count on that

Ann - While I'm here I wanted to ask how Clements is settling in? The department had its doubts about moving her over here

Marina - She is settling in just fine, I'll let her know that you asked after her shall i

Ann - Actually I'd like to see her for myself if it's convenient

Marina looks panic-stricken

Marina - I don't think today is a good time to see her Mrs Reynolds, can't you see her another day?

Ann - Well I suppose so, but I don't really understand why I can't see her today?

Marina - Well today she is sedated so if you were hoping to speak to her you may as well just leave it until a later date when she isn't sedated and can talk to you

Ann - ok I see, well I'll leave it for today but next time I'm here I want to see her, I won't accept any excuses next time and if I can't see her I will get very suspicious and I will start to think you may have something to hide!

Marina nods her head and looks worried

Marina - yes I understand

Judy is alone with Sandra is Isolation

Sandra looks terrible

Sandra - I'm glad I've got you alone without the other two

Judy - Oh really and why is that?

Sandra - I know you are more reasonable and more merciful than they are

Judy - Don't count on it honey, with people like you and Jock Stewart I seem to lose my compassion quickly enough

Sandra - Yes, well please I am begging you to help me and end this now

Judy - Why should I? After what you did to my precious Pixie

Sandra - I need to tell you something.....I need to tell you that I am sorry for killing her

Judy - Yeah I bet you are....sorry you're being punished for it you mean

Sandra - No I really mean I am sorry, you see I did not plan to do it. What happened was I simply lost my temper and went too far, I was horrified afterward I swear I was. I loved her as much as you did and I did not mean to kill her

Sandra suddenly starts crying

Sandra - I am already being punished without needing all this too, I am being punished with having to live with what I did and the terrible guilt and shame. I am sick and its no fun living with the knowledge that I am mentally ill and a murderer....please Judy help me, stop this I can't take any more

Judy looks doubtful but appears to be softening slightly

Meg and Ann are waiting in Joan's cell as Joan arrives and smirks at the sight of them

Joan - I knew you two would arrive for a chat!

Meg- Ann and I can't pretend that we aren't bitterly disappointed to see you alive, but at least you're back behind bars where you belong

Ann - We've come to tell you that you will never be forgiven by us and we intend to make your life very unpleasant in here

Joan scoffs

Joan - You two are pathetic if you think you can walk in here and try and intimidate me....why are you even back here anyway Reynolds, I thought you left months ago

Ann - I'm back because I am the head of the department now

Joan looks surprised and annoyed

Joan - please tell me you are joking. You, the piss-weak social worker, as the head of the department!

Ann and Meg look smug

Ann - It's no joke, I am the big boss around here now!

Joan - That won't last for long

Ann - Don't count on it, I intend to stick around for a long time to come!

Joan gets aggressive and sneers

Joan - You are an amateur Reynolds, always have been and always will be!

Bea is in the Recroom when Marie tries to attack her with a knife

Marie - I'm taking over as top dog!

Bea confiscates the knife and beats Marie viciously

Marie screams in pain

Marie -BITCH!

Bea - YOU NEVER LEARN DO YOU WINTER!

Joan arrives in the room and looks happy to see Marie taking a beating

Marie - Don't just stand there Joan, help me out here will ya!

Joan - oh no way Winter, it's your fault I'm back here so if Bea wants to bash you don't expect me to run in and help you!

Judy is alone with Vera

Judy - Miss Bennett, I think you're right, it's time to end Sandra's torment, I just don't see Bea or Miss Donovan agreeing to end it though

Vera - Maybe we should arrange for another officer to see Sandra, someone like Meg for example, if Meg sees her she will put more pressure on Donovan

Judy - Sounds like a good idea, I guess it might work

Joan arrives at her cell to find Marina waiting with a gang of prisoners

Marina - Ferguson, it's time for your first punishment beating! this is just the first one, there will be hundreds more to follow!

Marina stands back and watches with glee as Joan receives a vicious beating

Meg is in the staff room as Vera arrives

Vera - Are you busy?

Meg - Not particularly no, why?

Vera - I wanted to ask you if you were aware that Sandra Clements was moved here from Ingleside?

Meg - yes Ann told me, she is eager to see her but Donovan said she was sedated

Vera - Is Ann still here?

Meg - No she's left now but she said she will return soon to see Sandra

Vera - Maybe we should go and see her ourselves, she is in isolation

Meg - But Donovan said it's out of bounds

Vera - I know she did, but don't you ever wonder why? I know I do so maybe we should go and investigate?

Meg - yes, you might be right.....

.....Vera and Meg arrive at Isolation

Sandra looks at them weakly

Sandra - Help me Mrs Morris, please! They are torturing me! they won't let me eat or sleep and every time I fall asleep I get an electric shock to wake me again!

Meg looks horrified

Meg - oh my god...

Vera - Looks like we can't trust that evil woman Donovan, what a corrupt and cruel monster she is!

Meg - It's just unbelievable. every time we get rid of one corrupt officer or governor a new one arrives to take their place. I knew it was a mistake to fire Moran, he may have been having it off with Coulson but at least he wasn't cruel and corrupt, it would be much better to have him back rather than be stuck with that ghastly Donovan

Vera - What do you think we should do Meg?

Meg - Well there is no way I am allowing this to continue, I will talk to Donovan immediately and put a stop to this

Vera - Do you think she will listen to you, Meg?

Meg - She'd better or else there will be serious trouble! when I get riled like this I am not to be trifled with and people should not underestimate Meg Cruickshank when she is angry!

Vera looks satisfied

Bea and Judy find a badly beaten Joan, very badly beaten

Judy - Oh my god

Bea - Who did this?

Joan - it was a pack of them, Donovan organized it

Judy - Hell Bea, if Donovan is capable of this no one is safe. it might be Ferguson suffering a beating today but it could be any one of us tomorrow

Bea - Yes Jude I know...

Judy - Can we do anything for you, Ferguson?

Joan - Maybe you can help me get rid of Donovan, with her around no one is safe. let's work as a team on this one

Judy - Hey hold your horses, Ferguson, I don't know about Bea but I don't trust you and just because you are on our side of the bars doesn't mean I feel any differently about you

Joan - I understand that Bryant but that woman needs dealing with and together we can do it

Judy looks at Bea

Judy - What do you think Bea

Bea - I need to think about it...

....They leave the cell and walk up the corridor

Bea - Joan's right Donovan needs to go

Judy - Agreed but surely we can't team up with Ferguson to do it, can we?

Bea - Maybe, I don't know.

Meg is with Marina

Meg - You need to end the torture of Clements at once

Marina - Who says?

Meg - I do, end it now or I tell the department

Marina takes a photo of Dennis out of her desk drawer with a smug grin

Marina - Open your mouth to anyone and your darling husband dies Megsy!

Meg looks very upset and shakes her head in horror and disbelief

Marina - Quit looking so upset and scared. all you have to do is keep your trap shut and Dennis lives!

Meg - But what you are doing is so cruel

Marina - And Clements deserves it

Meg is angry

Meg - No one deserves that. starvation? sleep deprivation? electric shocks!

Marina - Its therapy for her, to correct her attitude and make her see the error of her ways

Meg - It's cruel and you're only doing it to amuse yourself

Marina - I'm doing it because Smith and Bryant asked for my help to get their revenge on her but you're right it does amuse me a great deal

Meg - If there is one thing that makes my blood boil it's a corrupt governor. I am disappointed in Bea and Judy but part of me can't blame them for how they feel, but as governor, you should know better, and encouraging them the way you are is just appalling

Marina - Well you know my terms. if you really want to stop it you will have to be prepared to say bye to Dennis and be a widow again, I heard about your first husband Bill, I am sure you do not want to go through all that again, do you? At your age who can say you will be lucky enough to find another husband now!

A furious Meg storms out of the office

Meg is with Bea and Judy and doesn't look happy

Meg - I am disgusted with the pair of you

Bea - Look Mrs C, you of all people should understand why we want to make Clements suffer. You must have felt the same way about Ferguson after she had Marty killed

Meg - Yes of course, but sometimes you have to control yourself and not give in to the feelings

Bea - What should we do then, forgive Clements?

Meg - Maybe you should yes, I forgave Chrissie for killing Bill. maybe you should follow my example

Bea pulls a face

Bea - Never, I will never forgive her

Judy - Nor will i

Judy looks regretful

Judy - I do want to stop the torture though, it was Miss Bennetts idea to get you involved so we could try and stop it, I backed her up

Bea and Meg look surprised

Bea - Jude I'm disappointed

Judy - I had to do it god damn it, it's gone too far and Donovan is out of control, you saw what she did to Ferguson too

Meg (interested) - What did she do to Ferguson?

Bea - Oh she had her beaten up, pretty brutally

Meg - Next it could be one of the other prisoners

Bea - yeah yeah we know

Meg - I just can't believe you teamed up with a corrupt governor Bea

Judy - What did Donovan say when you confronted her anyway?

Meg looks angry and bitter

Meg - What do you think? I'm to keep my mouth shut or I get to experience being a widow again

Bea and Judy can't control their rage

Bea - Oh alright that does it, I am not putting up with that bitch behaving like this any longer. Don't worry Mrs Cruickshank, as of now its over, I won't work with her anymore and I will deal with her once and for all

Meg - And Sandra?

Bea pauses while Meg and Judy look at her

Bea eventually responds, somewhat reluctantly

Bea - I'll put a stop to the torture too, as of now it's going to end

Meg and Judy look relieved

Meg - You're doing the right thing and you know it

Judy -Yeah I just want this to end now, I've had enough

Bea (angry and unsure)- yeah me too, time to end the revenge...

Later on, an angry Bea and Judy are with Marina

Bea - We want to end the torture of Clements

Marina - Why? you both hated her and wanted her to suffer, whats changed?

Judy - We still want her to suffer but we feel this has gone too far, it's only a matter of time before someone else finds out anyway

Marina -Yes, Bennett and Cruickshank already know about it... and Reynolds is sniffing around wanting to see Clements

Bea - There you go then, we have to end it now

Marina - No, I can keep Vera and Meg quiet, you do not need to worry about that

Bea - Yes we know all about your dirty tricks

Judy - Yeah, you were way out of line threatening to harm Cassie and Mr Cruickshank

Marina - Ooh so Vera and Meg told you about that then?

Bea - Too right they did and it's not on, we will never let you hurt Cassie and Dennis

Marina - I'll tell you exactly what I told them if everyone keeps their mouths shut no one needs to get hurt

Judy - And what about Ann Reynolds? you can't keep her away from seeing Clements forever

Marina - I'll work something out, there is really no need for us to end this

Bea - I suppose you'll threaten to hurt her son Paul if she says anything right?

Marina - I didn't know she had a son but yes I could do that, I bet she'll keep quiet if she faces losing her one remaining child, I know that Ferguson killed her daughter and she won't want to lose another child too

Bea - Look I want to end it ok Donovan, Jude and I should never have teamed up with you anyway, you are corrupt, No more torture of Sandra, no more threats to hurt and kill people, and no more beatings of prisoners

Marina - Beatings?

Judy - We know you had Ferguson beaten so don't deny it

Marina - I hate Ferguson, this was just the start with her

Bea - Will you stop the torture of Sandra? yes or no?

Marina - Well it's too late now and I won't end it, I am having fun

Bea - END IT OR WE'LL MAKE YOU END IT!

Marina - DON'T THREATEN ME SMITH, I'LL SEE TO IT THAT YOU SUFFER FOR IT

Bea - There is nothing you can do to me, I've already lost everything, I am not scared of you, and let me warn you that what you did to Ferguson is not on and I don't want a repeat of it ever

Marina - Surprised you'd care, it is only Ferguson after all

Bea - Sure I am not Joan's number one fan but, as top dog, I have to look out for all the prisoners and if you can do that to Joan you can do it to any of us and I won't allow that

Marina - So you want me to let Clements out of Isolation?

Judy - Yes, please

Marina - Ok I will but don't even think about coming to me for help next time you decide you want to get revenge on her because there are no second chances now, now that we have made it clear that we are no longer on the same side that is the end of it
