《Melissa Shield X Male Reader: Advancements of the Heart》Tourguide

Once the unpacking process was over with, you and your family had a nice dinner at the Academy's cafeteria. Overall, the food was really stellar and totally worth the long line wait. Once that was all over and done with as well, you wished your parents good night and watched as they headed off to the hotel on the other side of the island. Once they were out of view, you sighed and sat down on a bench beside you. You looked around as the sun slowly began to set on the world.
That's when the tour offer from Melissa popped into your head. You quickly found her contact information and sent her a message saying you were available. Within a minute she had replied and sent you a text back saying she was ready and just needed your location. You just looked around the area and tried to find any landmarks. When you couldn't, you just looked back at your phone and just kinda shrugged it off.
(Y/N): Uh...I have no idea where I'm at. Looks to be about 60 meters from the cafeteria. Along a long pathway down to what looks like a large pit with a mountain in the middle.
Melissa: I know exactly where you are! I'll be there soon!
In your mind, the girl had once again handed you another surprise. So three for three. After about another minute of waiting, you heard some springs coming from your far left. You turned your head and saw Melissa bouncing in towards you with a pogo stick. When she approached you, she bounced again and did a front flip, and landed on her feet. Albeit, she did stumble a bit when she landed.
She shot up and gave you a smile as she walked over to you.
(Y/N): Ok, so you are just impressing me time after time today.
Melissa: Sorry. Was just doing a demonstration and thought it might have been fun.
You walked over to her and knelt down and looked at the stick.
(Y/N): Increase in the spring. I presume there is some weight distribution to maximize height.
Melissa: Along the stick itself. It also kinda helps when you've been playing with these things since I was a kid.
(Y/N): That too.
Melissa: So, that tour.
(Y/N): Right. Uh, maybe we should wait till tomorrow. It is a little dark out.

Melissa: Nah. We can still hit up the more cool areas. Come on. Obviously, you have seen the cafeteria and the dorms, but I want to show you the robotics lab.
Melissa grabbed your hand and began to lead you throughout campus until you caught up pace with her.
Melissa: So...what's life like in Japan?
(Y/N): Not that different I guess. Everything is about the same. Classes are rough but manageable. And the hero scene is...is wow. All Might, Endeavor, Hawks. Heck, some of the younger heroes are looking more like pros every day. America I presume. What's that like?
Melissa: Pretty fun. But not that many people value the skills of the brain until everyone's grades are struggling or college is taken into account.
(Y/N): Ah. Well, that's a little disappointing.
Melissa: Yeah. It does get kinda annoying. But hey, here. Science rules the day. Speaking of, we are almost at the lab.
You smiled as you two walked into a large academic building. You looked around at a couple of classrooms. You then saw a few labs as well such as chemistry, physics, and so forth. About half through the hall, Melissa stopped and slid a card she had and unlocked the door. She opened it and gestured for you to walk inside. You did so and was wowed by what you saw.
Different cybernetics left and right. Along every shelf, ever counter was some new tech. A robotic hand lifting and throwing a ball. A cybernetic leg being worked on by a few students. A full-on drone in the back, slowly walking a bit as it was controlled by students. You couldn't help but smile at the prospects in front of you. Melissa walked up to you and giggled slightly when she saw your reaction.
Melissa: I take it you enjoy it?
(Y/N): This is just...my God. That's all I can say. Just...wow.
Melissa: Figured you would. Hey, Adrian.
From a back corner counter, a brown hair man raises his hand and waved in your general direction.
Melissa: Come on. Meet the new blood.
Adrian: I will in a second.
Melissa: You know I have executive say on where you stand in the robotics standing.
Adrian: Yeah?! Who put you there?!
Melissa: Last time I checked you were the deciding vote.

Adrian perked his head up and sighed. What came next surprised you a bit. Adrian stepped down from a step-ladder and walked over to you and Melissa. What you perceived as a man around 5'11" was actually about 4'6". He looked up at you and took out the lollipop from his mouth and nodded at you.
Adrian: Adrian Summers. I'm the President of the Robotics lab and work in Hero Support with Melissa.
(Y/N): I'd gathered that. Nice to meet you.
You both shook each other's hands.
Adrian: Take it you're into robotics.
(Y/N): Oh yeah.
Adrian: Care to build something. We have some spare parts in the corner.
Melissa: Adrian.
Adrian: Come on. Might as well see what he's got. Besides, not anyone to come work at I-Island. You're Dad my have special rank, but in this lab, I'm in charge and-
Female Student: Adrian! Check it out!
Male Studnet: No way! This is too cool!
Female Student: Looking cool, Joker!
Melissa and Adrian turned to the corner and saw you looking through parts and quickly screwing things together. You looked up and saw a welder not being used. You put on protective gear and began to weld some pieces together. Melissa ran over and began to watch you work a little. You grabbed some more pieces and began to drill into them as well.
Melissa: How can you-
(Y/N): It's uh...part of the quirk. I can just look at a piece of metal and see all the different ways it can be used with other pieces close by. It just makes building stuff a tad bit easier for me.
Melissa: Doesn't that get annoying?
You reached into your pocket and pulled out some goggles with red tints.
(Y/N): With therapy and these, I was able to train my quirk a little. It still pops up but it doesn't go berserk like it used to.
Adrian: Isn't that a little cheating though.
(Y/N): I said it shows me how they can be used. It's up to me to decide how to glue them back together.
You worked some more, grabbing different pieces and using welding tools to reattach them into a small robotic arm. You placed the shell down on the table and sighed a little.
(Y/N): I won't be able to get wiring in now. But it is a nice framework. I could reinforce it in a few areas. Actually, I could remove the bottom part and make this a support item.
Melissa: Yeah! This could work really well with a gauntlet I'm designing for my uncle. He's a pro hero.
Adrian: Well then you two, it looks like you've got a project. Just don't be late to class, ok (Y/N)?
(Y/N): ...Right.
You smiled over to Adrian and Melissa. The blonde grew a large grin as Adrian put his lollipop back into his mouth and waved you off with a two-fingered salute. Shortly afterward, you and Melissa walked out of the building and back into the night. As you walked out, you heard something slam down into the flesh. You turned around and saw Melissa with an annoyed scowl on her face.
(Y/N): I'm sorry! Did I do something wrong?
Melissa: Uh? Oh no. I'm just frustrated with myself. I wanted to show you around the island and I couldn't do that. I didn't mean for Adrian to drop a ball like that. Sorry.
(Y/N): Are you kidding me?! That was awesome! All that gear! Plus we now have a project together!
Melissa blushed slightly and smiled at you.
Melissa: Right. This is going to be fun.
(Y/N): Yeah it is!
Melissa: Just keep up with your other classes! Speaking of, since you are new, it means you have tomorrow off as a way to get adjusted. You better not skip out on me or anyone else here, got it!
(Y/N): Got it! Yes, ma'am!
Melissa: Please don't do that. I don't want to become my mom.
(Y/N): (Chuckling) Sorry.
Melissa smiled at you. A warm smile. The one that only good friends would give. You returned it to the best of your ability. With that said, you two said your goodbyes for the night and headed off. Once you got back to your room, you crashed down on your bed and sighed to yourself. Another smiled crossed your face. You just couldn't help it anymore.
(Y/N): Yeah...this is the school for me. No doubt.
With that said, you closed your eyes and drifted off to sleep. A new dawn slowly approaching.
