《Melissa Shield X Male Reader: Advancements of the Heart》First Day of Work

Your alarm blared in your ear, making you shoot up and look around. You yawned and slammed your alarm clock to make it stop beeping. 7:00 AM. Right on the dot. You cracked your neck and got out of bed and yawned again. So, you crawled out of bed and got ready to get to classes and get work done for the day.
A day ago, you had said goodbye to your parents as they flew back off to Japan. Yeah, it was emotional. And your mom cried a little. But regardless, they left and they had a fine flight back home. After that, you went ahead and worked on getting adjusted to life on I-Island and working with Melissa on a proper tour. It was a nice day, but overall, wasn't all too engaging. Still was a nice gesture though. But now, it was time for school.
Your first class was robotics 101, followed by a seminar with some big-shot professor. It wasn't all that fun but the robotics course was great. The hands-on learning, the ability to do stuff you loved within the first day of class. It was all so great. But once your classes were done for the day, you returned to your room and crashed down on the bed. You groaned a little as you slammed your head down on the pillow, tired out of your mind.
You slowly looked over and saw your desk and the arm you had made two days prior. As you looked at it, your eyes opened slightly and you slowly sat up. You yawned a little and walked over to the arm. You looked it over and then heard your phone go off for the third time in the past two minutes. You rolled your eyes and reached into your pocket and pulled out your phone, seeing what was going on.
Melissa: Hey (Y/N)! Was wondering when you had time so we could work on the arm! Super jazzed about it!
Your eyes widened again. You had almost forgotten the entire plan you made with Melissa. You quickly texted her back, saying you were ready whenever today. From there, you two arranged a time to meet up within the next 10 minutes. You grabbed the arm, placed it in a suitcase Adrian gave to you, and bolted out the door down to Melissa's. She apparently wanted to work on it in private with you, an idea that originally did not go well in your mind.

Either way, you had wandered through the halls until you found the room in question. You cleared your throat once you knocked on the door. You were a bit worried about seeing her, but at the same time, you were ready. Why was this? Well, come on. She was a cute girl and in your socially awkward mind, this was going to be a disaster and-
The door opened and you saw Melissa standing there. She gave you a massive smile and stepped to the side.
Melissa: Hey (Y/N)! Glad you could make it!
(Y/N): Uh, yeah.
You walked inside the room and were amazed but what you saw. A few chemistry sets, more cybernetics, blueprints, support items, it was a dream room. Melissa must have caught on as she laughed slightly at your reaction.
Melissa: That tends to be the normal reaction to robotics team members or just support people. Sorry if the room is a little messy.
(Y/N): Oh, I don't mind at all. Actually, it seems a little cleaner than my own room.
Melissa: Well, that makes me feel better.
(Y/N): What do you mean?
Melissa: Oh, don't worry about it! Let's go on ahead and get started.
(Y/N): Uh, ok. If you say so.
You were just a tad thrown off, but nothing too serious. Still, it was a lingering thought. That was until Melissa turned around and slapped a red wristband onto your arm. You looked at it with a confused expression until she tapped it and the band expanded outward to fit the shape of your arm. You were taken aback slightly as she smiled at you.
Melissa: There you go!
(Y/N): Wow! Nice storage mode. So, this was made for your uncle, right?
Melissa: Yep. His strength basically has no limits. So it had to handle a lot of pressure in order for it to be properly tested.
(Y/N): Impressive. So, you think this framework would add to it?
Melissa: At the very least, it will add some force to it. Just to give it more protection.
(Y/N): Well then, are we ready?
Melissa: Yep! Let's get to work!
Melissa walked over and grabbed a different version of the gauntlet and placed it down on a workbench. You grabbed some wires from a tool kit along with proper safety gear and got to work on the gauntlet. You two started but cutting off the bottom section of the cybernetic you made. Afterward, you guys expanded the previous version of the gauntlet and began to attach the shell to the outside of the gauntlet.

Once the framework didn't fit just right, you guys re-worked it throughout most of the afternoon. Sure it was pretty easy but at the same time, it was a majority of the work done throughout the day. From there, you guys got some wire work in place and attached them to a few bits within the gauntlet to link them all.
Honestly, the time you guys were done with the wire work, it was late into the afternoon and the sun would be going down at any hour now. You yawned and leaned back into your chair as Melissa joined you on the opposite side. You saw her reach down and opened a fridge and grabbed some sodas.
Melissa: That was some good work.
(Y/N): A lot of work too.
Melissa: That tends to happen with projects like these. So, what did you think?
(Y/N): A lot of fun. But I think if we had more hands, we would be able to speed up the process.
Melissa: Agreed. Not to mention, different input leads to better results.
(Y/N): Yep.
Melissa: So, want to grab some food? I'm starving.
(Y/N): I'm in. Where to? Cafeteria?
Melissa: Sure. Come on.
From there, you two walked out from the dorms and down to grab some grub. While on the walk, you two talked about life once again, mainly asking questions about Japan and America. It was a lot of fun, to say the least. You got hit with a new wave of facts about America while you were also able to brag a little about your own country.
As you got your food and found your spot in a booth, Melissa snapped her fingers and pointed at you.
Melissa: I almost forgot! How was your first day of class?
(Y/N): Oh..uh. Alright. Robotics is a lot of fun. I love the hands-on approach. As for the ethics seminar...well...it's really boring.
Melissa: Who do you have it with?
(Y/N): I think his name was Armstrong?
Melissa: Oh yeah. Professor Armstrong is pretty boring. Normally goes into stories about his family and his youth than actually goes on about the ethical restraint of cybernetic enhancements.
(Y/N): He didn't talk about that stuff at all. He was just really boring.
Melissa: Oh! Then you got a blue moon class, my friend.
You groaned a little and slammed your head down onto the table. Melissa giggled slightly and you slowly sat up and continued with your food.
Melissa: So, what's going on with tomorrow?
(Y/N): Not much of anything really.
Melissa: Classes I meant.
(Y/N): Oh, right. Uh, not much. Just some general education courses. That's all. Dr. Hall and Dr. Kaku will be teaching me about rocketry and physics.
Melissa: Interesting.
(Y/N): Yeah. So that's a lot of fun. What about you? What goes on for you around Wednesdays?
Melissa: Wednesdays are workdays for me. So, I need to get down to the lab early and just keep working on projects. I'll keep ours on hold until you're ready.
(Y/N): Really? I don't want to take anything away from you. If you have other work to be done-
Melissa: Don't worry about it. Adrian can easily run the lab without me. Plus, with all those extra hands, they'll be fine. Besides, this is far more intriguing.
(Y/N): You really think so?
Melissa: Oh yeah. This is awesome!
You smiled at Melissa. From there, you two joked around a little, straying away from school in favor of just enjoying your time together. Once you guys were done with dinner, you both walked back to the dorms. Once again, there were some jokes made about some American culture thing. Something out over patriotism and dumb internet videos.
You had to say, the more she laughed, the more adorable it seemed. She was cute, to say the least when she laughed and smiled. But either way, you guys got back into the dorm building and waved each other a goodnight. When you walked back into your room, you crashed back down on your bed, a smile on your face.
Back in Melissa's room, she quickly changed into her pajamas and crashed down at her desk to work a little more. She looked over to the arm and gauntlet you both worked on. She smiled and looked out to the moon from the window.
Melissa: Today was a good day.

The Navigator
I'm a navigator. This essentially means it's my job to ferry goods and/or people from point A to point B. I know, shocking, but here's the thing. I don't navigate the seas or stars. Hell, I don't even have a ship, craft, vessel or vehicle of any description. 'What is it you navigate, then?' you may ask. The chaotic nonsensical void between neighboring realities. That's what. Tale of a Cruel World
A world where civilization is worthless and the meanderings of the wild bend humanity to its knees. This the tale of a cruel world, seemingly destined never to find peace. Through calamity after catastrophe, through silence and storm, its people have survived. Though, soon the final calamity will come. A clone of the strongest, most feared mage, Calamitas, bioengineered to only feel 'positive' emotions, and an ordinary hunter fighting to protect his dying sister begin their journey with a wish to rid a city of plaguebrought strife. (This is based on the Calamity Mod for Terraria, but should be perfectly readable to any normal viewers. To make its universe into a living, breathing place requires liberties enough to make this almost 'my own' world, so keep in mind that this isn't a very 'conventional' fanfiction(or maybe it is, I don't actually know the conventions).)
