《Melissa Shield X Male Reader: Advancements of the Heart》Welcome to I-Island

You had done it. After weeks of testing, pushing yourself academically, and getting all your tech built up and refurbished you were ready for the next trail life threw at you. Essentially it was college, but not really. The system was confusing, yes. But this was your invitation to a new sector of your life. You applied to and got into I-Island Academy, a massive technological academy meant to better the world as a whole. And, at the rightful age of 19, you were able to get into the school and you couldn't be happier.
The school had sent out a plane to bring you to the island along with your family to help move you in. Your father pulled the car up to the runway, directly across from the plane. You stepped out of the car and looked on in total awe. Your parents got out of the car with you and looked over to you with smiles.
Father: Nice work, kiddo.
(Y/N): Oh come on. It's not that big of a deal.
Mother: Sweetie, you earned this. Go ahead and enjoy it.
You smiled and nodded slightly. You turned your head back to the plane as three men walked up to the car. Two looked like they were airport employees. The other was wearing casual clothing, a buttoned-up shirt, and long brown pants.
David: Pleasure to meet you. (Y/N) I presume. (You nod) David Shield. I work at I-Island.
You grabbed his hand and shook it, a smile on your face. He smiled too and you stopped the handshake after a few seconds.
(Y/N): Uh, sorry. Just really excited.
David: I can tell. Let my people get your bags. Come on in, we can talk more on the flight to the island.
You nodded and turned back to your parents. You saw the car was already emptied and your stuff was all on the move to the plane. Your parents walked over, introduced themselves to Dr. Shield and you all got onto the plane.
While on the flight, your parents were able to learn more about the academy and the island in total. The heroes that used the island and got support gear, the school that advanced mechanics, chemistry, medicine, etc., it was just impressive to hear about all over again. And your parents were just in awe. After about an hour, David tapped you on the shoulder to get your attention.

David: Well young man. Are you ready?
(Y/N): Yes sir!
David: Then take a look.
Shield pointed to the window and you looked out of it and gasped. I-Island. In all its glory. You had a massive smile on your face as the plane slowly made a descent towards the island. You turned back to your parents and they smiled at you. Shield laughed a little as the plane continued on downward. Once it landed and you were allowed out of the plane, you ran down the stairs and looked out across the island.
Megastructures left and right, people with science projects, rocket testing so forth, and so on. You once again had another massive smile on your face as you just looked around the island. From behind you, your parents and Shield watched.
Father: I have never seen him so hyped up before.
David: Newcomers tend to be like this. My daughter did the same when I first brought her here.
Mother: Is she a student here too?
David: Sure is. And knowing her, she'll more than likely find a way to introduce herself to you all shortly. She loves newcomers.
Father: Well, that's nice. A warm welcome indeed.
Mother: And I suggest we get him into his room before he freaks out and runs full speed around the island.
Father: Good point. I'll get his stuff.
Your father walked back to the plane as you kept looking around the island. You turned back and saw your mom watching you. You smiled largely at her as joy continued to hit you harder and harder.
Following the little freak-out, Shield guided you over to the Academy and walked you through the dorms to your room. So, you began to unpack and place your shelves and little collectibles around the room. You hooked up some of your gear as well, plugging in wires, and got everything ready. You directed your parents to the side once your desk was set up in order to get some space so you could play around. As you were working, you heard a knock on the door and a voice called out to you.
Female Voice: Hello!
You turned your head to the door and time seemed to slow down. Standing at the door was a beautiful blonde-haired girl. Glasses on. Just a damn cute girl that blew you away. However, you were quick to shake off the awestruck of her and smiled at her.

(Y/N): Hello there.
You stood up and walked over to her. You both shook hands and you offered her a smile.
(Y/N): (Y/N) (L/N).
Melissa: Melissa Shield.
(Y/N): As in, David Shield?
Mother: Oh, so you're Dr. Shield's daughter.
Melissa: Oh. My Dad didn't brag again, did he? Sorry, he does that quite a lot. Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and see who was coming by.
(Y/N): Well uh...here I am. (Chuckles) Sorry to say, but nothing special so far. So, it's kinda odd to hear someone else say-
Melissa: Whoa! Is that a bionic arm?!
(Y/N): Uh, wait how did you-
Melissa grabbed your arm and held it up so she could look over it, pushing up your sleeve once she did. You had fake skin to cover your arm, just to not offset anyone, so needless to say you were more amazed that she was able to identify it so quickly. She looked around the joints, feeling the arm a little.
Melissa: Uh. Not bad for support. Joint strength seems slightly above average. I take it for combat reasons. I take it you were trying to become a pro hero.
(Y/N): Uh, not really.
Melissa: Interesting. Uh, you could work on calibration a bit more. You might want to reinforce it around the wrist.
(Y/N): Ri-right. Well, um, I still have a lot to unpack right now and-
Melissa's entire body shot up and she had a light blush on her face. Then again, that was nothing compared to your blush. However, the two of you were able to quickly shake the blush altogether and she took a rather large step back from you.
Melissa: Sorry! Got distracted. It's been a while since I had seen such engineering. Did you make it yourself?
(Y/N): Not really. My father and uncle made it for me.
Melissa: Well then. (She turns to your father) You did solid work here.
Father: I aim to please.
Melissa: Have you seen the robotics lab yet?
(Y/N): No. I just got here. I haven't been to see much of the island.
Melissa: Well, just ask me if you ever want a tour of the island. I'd love to give it to you.
Mother: You could take it after dinner. We will be in the hotel by 21:00 anyway so you will have plenty of time.
(Y/N): Guess that settles it.
Melissa: Great! Uh...I don't really have much in the way of contacting you so...
(Y/N): Oh right!
You handed her your phone and she did the same for you. You had to be honest, you were kinda impressed she was able to read Japanese fluently. Then again, if she went to this school and was able to identify your fake arm, the language skills should be more than easy for her. You both returned your phones and see waved as she left the room with a quick dash. You had a light blush on your face, but you were fortunately out of view from your parents.
Mother: Well, she was a lovely young lady.
Father: A little all over the place, don't you think?
Mother: Don't be so rude.
Father: I'm just saying.
Mother: Well, be happy your son has a friend here. Right kiddo?
You shook your head quickly and turned back to your parents and nodded.
(Y/N): Yep. Now, help me out with the fridge real quick. I'm starving right now and I need food soon.
Mother: Sure. Honey, come on.
Father: I'm coming. I'm coming.
Your parents knelt down beside you and began to push your fridge underneath your bed. You crawled under it and began to attach the cables to the outlet. Still, the thoughts of Melissa played in your head. She was cute as hell. She clearly knew her stuff too, so double the cuteness. But having a girlfriend wasn't your priority. Besides, you highly doubted you were going to see her past today. But hey, who knows. Maybe you could.
Either way, this could end up being one of the best choices of your life. Who needed a pro hero when you could make the stuff that saved heroes' lives in the field of battle. This was your life. And you couldn't be happier with your choice in life. And who knows...maybe Melissa would be there as well in the future.

The Outer Sphere
Garth Daniels is down on his luck, running from his life in a quiet little town in the middle of America when our universe is co-opted into a war between an unstoppable race of reality-hopping monsters that feeds on the flesh of living creatures, and a conglomeration of thousands of realities, nested inside each other like a matroska doll. We're the new layer. These monsters, the Kipling, can only be defeated in a reality with very specific physics, otherwise they are unstoppable, and so Earth's universe has been assimilated to give us a fighting chance. Garth must set aside everything that he knows, and think fast to adapt to the new laws of nature if he wants to survive. Cover by Asera, a cool, helpful dude, who doesn't get enough props. Go check him out!
8 142Anti-Hero: Journey of Fear
There is a story where the hero makes friends, completes quests, and saves the world. This is NOT that story. In the VR world of Fate: Experience Acute Realism, the main character cuts his way through both the players and NPCs alike. This story takes a close look at how a true full immersion VR would be played. The setting is an open VR world where the players struggle to survive with a lack of knowledge and the NPCs panic in regards to the Travelers invading their world. The anti-hero of this story is cold and calculating. Sparing no one from his reign of terror he gives into occasional bouts of kindness before he is forced back on the path of blood and tears. For where there is a hero who seeks to bring people together to help the world move forward, there is an anti-hero who brings people together to seize the world for himself. WARNING: This story contains extreme violence, in every single chapter. This story contains references to sex, but no explicit scenes. This story has light to mild swearing. My chapters normally range from 4,000 to 5,000 words. This story does not contain happy endings, middles, or even beginnings.
8 561Red Reckoning - Yancy Lazarus Book 6
Look who just dragged himself out of Hell… Yancy Lazarus—mage, bluesman, and Hand of Fate—is back from Hell, and the world of the living ain't what it used to be. The Guild of the Staff is broken, his friends are being hunted down, and the pact between the supernatural nations is on the brink of collapse. Someone needs to shoot some sense into people, and if there's one thing Yancy knows about a job well done, it's that you have to do it yourself. But the ringmaster at the center of this evil clown circus is the Morrigan, the Irish War Walker of Old, and she's cooked up a nasty new ritual that could be the end of humanity. This isn't like the last time she faced Yancy, however. Fueled by both cleansing magic and demonic fire, Yancy and his crew of supernatural misfits are packing more heat than she can handle. A reckoning of epic proportions is coming.
8 144Revival of the Force
Takes place after ep8: Rey and Kylo discover a new, mysterious connection between them. Physical tears in reality lead Rey to find that the Force is 'suffering', with a strange link to what Luke had done decades ago. Meanwhile, the Resistance is plagued by traitors. For the greater good, the movement has resorted to harsh methods to find them. Finn questions the Resistance, and uncovers that something is amiss. Things are not what they seem. The three are not prepared to enter a tragedy greater than they could ever have imagined... [some parts stylistically inspired by Persona, Voltron and Avatar, but it is still very much Star Wars-esque]
8 167Kain, The Apocalypse Overlord
What would be your reaction to finding out you are no longer in your body? Your home? Familiar monsters? And many more. This is the story about a man that transmigrate to the body of a young man, a broken body at that, and strives with his malicious mindset in this new and unknown world. -------------------------- Author's Note: I don't own the pokemon franchise.
