《Two Wastes of Space- J.C》Tensions Rising

When College started up, the police came to interview all of us. I told them the exact truth; I didn't know the girl at all and that I had no idea that she was planning to take her life that night.

"This is fucked up. I didn't even know the girl. Why are they treating us like criminals?" Emily said.

"Because she's dead, and we were all there," JJ said.

"Doesn't mean we did it, right, Nomes?" Naomi curtly nodded, but she looked troubled. Emily mentioned Effy, and Freddie didn't look too pleased with the sound of her name.

"Guys, let's not mention her, ok? Freds has been having a hard time getting over her this Summer, so please don't talk about it," I said. Emily nodded, and we waited around for the interrogation to be over.

Cook told me he needed to go somewhere after school, so I walked home with JJ.

"Did the police give you a hard time also?" I said.

"Yeah, geez they're taking this so seriously, I hope this all ends soon,"

"Me too," I hooked onto his arm.

We walked in through my front door, and my mom was in the other room.

"Hey, mom."

"Hello, Bri, who's this?"

My mom wasn't strict about boys, so she didn't seem upset at all.

"Oh, this is my friend, JJ," I said as we walked upstairs into Sid's room.

Since Sid moved out, I decided to make his room into a lounge and redecorate the room. And I must say, it was much better that way, "I just want this whole investigation to be over, and for our lives to be normal again,"

"There's no such thing as a normal life, Bri. The word normal shouldn't even be a word," JJ said.

"You know what I mean!" I snapped at him. Sometimes it got annoying when he'd get all factual and know-it-all.

"Ok, sorry. But everything will get better, I do know that."

I smiled and kissed him on the cheek, "Thanks for always being a good friend,"

"Pleasure is mine, and thank you for always being a good friend too," he said, showing his smile full of metal. We spent the rest of the day eating junk or just talking about whatever came up.

One day after college, Cook, and Naomi, and I went to the pub for a drink. We were making small talk until we saw Thomas at the counter. We all knew that Thomas had cheated on Panda. Thomas walked over to when Cook mentioned that we knew about what happened.

"You're such a tit, Thomas. She loved you," Naomi said.

"Yea, and after everything you went through with her. I would've thought you knew better," I agreed with Naomi. Cook said something snarky to Thomas, which set Thomas off and caused him to start a fight with him.

"How dare you sell drugs in my club!" he threw punches at Cook. I helped someone pry him off of Thomas as Naomi was yelling at Thomas to stop. I held Cook back and threw my arms around him.

"Calm down. It's ok."

"Thomas, it was me! I sold her the drugs," Naomi said.

"What?"

"I needed the money, she was just a random person who wanted it. So I sold it to her," Naomi explained, her voice shaky.

"She died!" Thomas was furious.

"I know. I didn't mean for it to happen. Please don't tell anyone, don't tell Emily especially," Naomi begged tearfully.

"Guys, we should go," I held onto Cook's arm as Naomi followed us, "Nomes, what are you going to say to the police?"

"I'm going to tell them that I didn't know her, simple," Naomi said.

I sighed, "Ok, but please, please be careful."

Naomi left and Cook followed me home. The moment I closed the door, Cook put his lips on mine. I kissed back and ran my hand through his hair. He pushed me on the couch and started kissing my neck, softly sucking on my skin. When Cook lifted his hands underneath my shirt, I pushed him off me.

"What's wrong?" he said, getting off me slightly.

"Nothing, I just, don't feel like shagging right now. I'm sorry," I said, getting up and straightening my hair and clothes out.

He seemed confused but not hurt, "Is there something else on your mind?"

I wanted to tell him. I wanted to tell him I liked him so badly. But I was afraid about what he'd say, so I lied, "Nope, I'm just not in the mood. I promise,"

I turned on the telly and MTV came on. It was throwback Thursday and Kiss me Deadly by Lita Ford was on.

"She is such a badass. I wish I looked like her," I said to him.

"Why? I like you the way you are, and you are a thousand times more good looking than her, let me fucking tell you that," he chuckled.

"You know, that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me, Cook, thanks," I said.

"Ah, you fucking know me, all about honesty," he laughed once more.

I smiled at him as we continued to watch MTV.
