I was at the hospital but I get a call from Damon. I stayed overnight, on no sleep. I head to the boarding house.
"How's your mom?" Damon asks.
"She's stable. But I was scared Katherine compelled her to do something else so I stayed up all night. Alaric and Elena are with her right now."
"Come. Something happened." Damon says and we see Caroline and Stefan. "Go ahead, tell them. You're gonna love this."
"I saw Katherine today." Caroline says.
"Where?" Stefan asks.
"At the grill. I just stopped by to gawk and... quasi-stalk Matt."
"Skip the teen drama and get to it." Damon says, rolling his eyes.
"Then I had to pretend to use the bathroom even though I didn't really have to go, cause I'm a dufus. Then Katherine was there and said I needed to deliver a message." Caroline explains.
"What's the message, Care?" I ask.
"She said to tell Damon and Stefan that she wants the Moon Stone or she will rip this town apart until it rains blood." Caroline says.
"Tell then the rest of it." Damon says.
"Tonight, at the masquerade ball." Caroline sighs.
"She wants to do it in public. Killing Mason threw her off guard." Stefan says, which didn't even phase me. Mason tried to kill Stefan and Damon.
"She's running scared. What she did to your mom was desperate. She's out of tricks." Damon tells me.
"We can't underestimate her. We have to play this smarter than her." Stefan says.
"Can't we just give her the Moon Stone so she'll leave?" Caroline asks.
"No." Damon immediately responds. "Katherine's not getting dick. I've had it. I'm gonna go to the masquerade ball and I'm going to kill her. Tonight."

"You're not gonna kill her." Stefan says.
"Don't give me that goody-goody crap." Damon says, annoyed.
"You're not gonna kill her." Stefan repeats himself.
"Oh, really?"
"Because I am." Stefan responds to Damon and Damon smirks
—
"And for you, I recommend this." Alaric shows me a hunter gadget you put on your wrist. "Fits nicely under a jacket sleeve. Here's the trigger when you're ready. Now are you sure you want to do this?" Alaric asks me.
"Well I'm getting forced to be involved with this plan." I say, glaring at Damon.
"Really, Damon she's 15." Alaric crosses his arms.
"And she can handle this. She's coming incase anything goes wrong. Nothing major. And she has to learn how to protect herself." Damon says.
"Do I have to?" I ask.
"No. Alaric can drive you home and you guys can watch Elena. I don't want her knowing about any of this." Stefan says which makes Damon roll his eyes.
(Not your pov)
"Really Stefan?" Damon says.
"If she doesn't want to be there, then we won't put that kind of pressure and anxiety on her. She's only 15. How much longer until she breaks. Her anxiety got bad from saving me yesterday. Then her mom almost died. She can use a night of no supernatural drama." Stefan explains.
"She underestimate her Stefan. Yes she's 15, but she can handle All of this stuff. She was able to go down that well and save you, she's able to do all this stuff, even if she doesn't know it."
—
"I feel like an invalid." Jenna tells me and Elena.
"That's because you are an invalid." Elena says which makes me chuckle a little. "Where's Jeremy? Isn't he hungry?" Elena asks as I take a slice of pizza.

"He already left for the Lockwood party." Jenna says.
"He went to that?" Elena asks then looked at me. "I'm gonna get some napkins. Ashley is going to get us waters." Elena says glaring at me. She knows something is up.
"What's going on?" Elena asks me and Alaric.
"What do you mean?" Alaric says.
"I haven't heard from anyone all day. It's like everyone's been avoiding me. And now Jeremy's supposedly at the party? He hates stuff like that." Elena says.
Then, Alaric makes up this stupid explanation which makes no sense at all. Alaric walks away and I was about to too.
"What's happening?" Elena asks me. "I know you know."
"Ok fine. Stefan doesn't want you at the ball cause they are planning to kill Katherine. They are all on the plan. And I didn't go because I hate wearing dresses." I explain.
"Well, we are going." Elena says grabbing the keys.
—
"What the hell is going on?!" Elena whisper shouts at Jeremy, we got to the Lockwood's. Jeremy just glared at me.
"I tried. She's stubborn." I say.
"You're trying to kill her here?" Elena asks Jeremy and Bonnie.
"We saw an opportunity, and knew we'd had to take it." Jeremy says.
"Ok. Stop with the "we". Are you guys crazy?" Elena asks. "You could get yourselves killed."
"We know what we're doing, Elena." Bonnie assures.
"And how am I supposed to feel if one of you gets hurt because of me?"
"It's not just yo anymore Lena. Everyone wants her dead. She has messed with everyone including my mom." I explain, but a couple seconds later Elena starts screaming in pain.
"Elena!" I shout, as we see a blood stain on the back of her shirt. "What happened?" I ask Bonnie and Jeremy.
"Jeremy it's Katherine! She's linked to Katherine! Get them to stop, now!" Bonnie tells Jeremy and he starts running.
"Lena, squeeze my hand. It'll help." I say and she grabs onto my hand really tight.
"Bonnie, Ash, it hurts." Elena cries out.
"I can't break the spell, Elena. I'm sorry. But I can try to take some of the pain away. Ok?" Bonnie says and starts chanting.
Jeremy comes running back. "Elena are you okay? Damon and Stefan are stuck in there with Katherine. And you were right. Katherine had a witch link Elena to her." Jeremy explains.
"That girl I saw. The one inside. Stay with her. Keep pressure on her shoulder. I have to find the other witch." Bonnie says, running away.
—
Elena's pain is finally gone, so she goes to talk to Stefan while I wait for her. "How did it go?" I ask. I could tell she didn't want to talk about it.
We head to the car, but all I see is a guy with a mask on take Elena and i black out the second after.

Rising World
Vonn of Shieldpoint is an ambitious young inventor who, as far as his family knows, just survived a terrible accident. Really, he didn't. Instead a being known as the System has recruited the soul of a modern college student from our world, to fill in for him. Given a new life in a new body, the former human wants to make good use of it and fulfill the dreams of the one he's replacing. He's an Engineer in a world where that's a character class with explicit levels and stats. This world is just discovering the power of steam and clockwork and the occasional magic dungeon crystal, so Vonn is just in time to become a famous genius. He just needs to figure out what the gods actually want from him. (LitRPG Isekai with light but important stats, nonhuman MC. Cover art by Alexandra, https://www.deviantart.com/oktoberbeef .) This book is now available on Amazon! https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B09H5CQSX5 For legal reasons, I need to hide most of the content from Royal Road for now. The version for sale is revised and expanded anyway, including a rewritten opening. If the book does well, that's encouragement to write more of it soon! Reviews are welcome too. As noted in the afterward, it's been fun and useful to share this work with all of you here as I worked on it. Update 2022/2/22: Wow, it did do well! Thanks to all who read, commented, bought, and/or spread the word. Right now I'm working on a side-story about character Selen, and posting that starting yesterday. I do plan to do a true sequel this year, yet.

Leveling Up Is Better Than Reality
If you've ever been called a slacker, you know, it's not that you're lazy, it's just that you're not interested. Your values don't allow you to work hard as you wish to live in a heaven-like world where you don't have to do anything. As Gandhi said, ""Be the change you wish to see in the world...'' Wise words indeed. This story's about lazy- I mean an idealist hero named Zellin living in an RPG-like world. I'm going to deem this work as PG-13, but you never know...

The Hunt
Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you."The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad."With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there."With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.
