《Crossroads (Lesbian Stories)(gxg)》Chapter 26: A Thousand Ways to Say 'I Love You'

Kayla's POV
It was a hot spring day and I was NOT feeling it at all today. I was pissed off that girls were getting dress coded for wearing clothes appropriate for the 90 degree weather but guys not getting dress coded for wearing their pants all the way to their knees, exposing their dirty underwear. In addition, most of the guys have taken off their shirts and the administration hasn't even done anything.
I had just taken a class last period in an extremely stuffy room and the teacher refused to allow us to open some windows. There was no air conditioning or fan in the room so basically we were taking a test in a sauna.
It was passing period right now and I stopped by my locker to grab some books. Someone came up to me and leaned against the locker, trying to act cool.
"Hey there babe you look great today."
I looked up and saw it was Lucas, one of those asshole soccer players who was also friends with Jesse. The same Lucas that Christy almost fought at the party.
"I'm not your babe." I said while looking into my locker again, wanting him to leave.
"Come on baby don't be like that. Come on let's get lunch together today." He said while stepping closer to me.
"I have to go to a meeting so I can't." I told him while rolling my eyes.
"Well then come see me after we have soccer practice. We can have another work out together." He said while licking his lips.
"Listen Danny I don't want anything with you." I told him coldly, I wasn't in the mood for anyone's shit today.
"Well a girl who wears shorts that short is always asking for it." He said as he wrapped his arm around my waist.
I pushed him away from me. "Piss off, asshole."
"Come on baby I know you want some of this." Lucas said while grabbing his junk. "I can make you feel waaaay better than that dyke did."
"You know if you're going to talk shit about me behind my back, you should say shit that's actually believable." A voice said.
We both turned around and see Christy standing there with her arms crossed looking at both of us.
"Oh what would you know you nasty dyke? Kayla here missed dick, that's why she cheated on you. Can't pleasure a woman without one of these." Lucas said while patting his dick once again. "You know you should try it sometime with me. I could change you."
There was a crowd that started forming around us.
"No thanks, I think my fingers are longer than that backwards tail of yours that you call a dick. Why don't you leave Kayla alone and stop harassing her?" Christy said as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Yeah? Or what? Just cause no one wants your nasty ass faggot pussy doesn't mean you have to be all butt hurt about it." Lucas sneered.
"I'm not butthurt, just stop harassing her and I'll leave." Christy demanded.
"You're just jealous cause you don't have this anymore." Lucas said as he smacked my butt.
Christy, without missing a beat, sucker punched him in the face and he fell to the ground.
He quickly got up and lunged for her. "You fucking bitch. You're dead dyke!" He tackled Christy to the ground and saw Lucas punch Christy in the face.I ran toward them and started to break them up. Security guards ran to us and broke up the fight. They both had to be restrained by the guards.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?" One of them shouted.
"Lucas was harassing Kayla." Christy said loudly so everyone would hear.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP DYKE." Lucas yelled, trying to attack Christy but was held back by the guard.
"All three of you are going to the principal's office." He said as he escorted us to the dean.
I looked at Christy and I honestly couldn't believe she did that. She stood up for me even though she's acted like I didn't exist for the past two weeks. She took a punch to the face and even a possible suspension to defend me.
After telling all three of the stories, to the principal, he still declared that he was going to call our parents. Lucas was going to be suspended for 3 days and Christy and I had to serve a week's worth of lunch detention for "provoking him to start a fight." Unfair but the other option was suspension for actually fighting so this was way better.
Lucas sat in the principal's office and was receiving a lecture from the principal about harassment while Christy and I sat in the dean's office while we waited for our parents and guardians to come.
"You didn't have to do that you know?" I said softly.
"He was harassing you and he put his hands on you. He's lucky he's not dead right now."
I gave her a small smile. "Thank you."
"Anytime."
"Your eye is looking like really red right now." I said as I reached up and lightly touched her face.
Christy flinched at my touch and I quickly pulled my hand away. "Um yeah I'll probably have a black eye tomorrow but it's fine."
"No it's not fine. Let me get you an ice pack or something." I started to get up but she put a hand on my thigh signalling me to sit down. It was the first time Christy touched me since we shared that last kiss and I could feel a surge of electricity go through me when she touched me again.
"Kayla, it's fine."
I nodded and sat back down. We were just literally sitting there in the dean's office waiting for our guardians to come. It was literally dead silence. There was so much tension between us and time dragged on so slowly. It broke my heart that we went from a loving couple to basically two complete strangers. I missed her so much. I missed her touch, her laugh, her smile, everything about her. The worst thing is, at one point I had her. She was all mine and I fucked it up.
"Natalie asked me to boat dance the other day." She said out of the blue.
"What?!" I nearly shouted.
"Yeah she asked me since I already bought my boat dance ticket and I said I wasn't going to go."
"Why did you buy the ticket if you weren't going to go?" I asked curiously.
Christy stayed silent for a while before speaking up. "I was going to ask you to boat."
I looked away from her and I felt my heart drop as it sank in. Damn I really fucking fucked up. I'm such an idiot. I could feel the tears threatening to spill out of my eyes and I took a deep breath and continued to torture myself by asking her more questions.
"Where you going to ask me at the game?"
Christy had her head held down and she nodded her head slightly.

I put my head into my hands and I felt the tears running down my face. "Christy I'm so fucking sorry." I looked at Christy and her face was unreadable and expressionless but I knew she was hurting. It hurt me even more to know I am the reason for her to be hurting.
"Christy? What happened?" A familiar voice said and was followed by footsteps walking toward us.
I looked up and saw it was Steph. She looked at me and I felt her shooting daggers at me before she focused her attention back on Christy.
"Shit what happened to your eye?! Did she do this?" Steph said while pointing at me.
"What? No no! There was this guy harassing Kayla and I told him to piss off and we got into a fight." Christy explained.
Steph looked at me and then Christy again. "Go get your stuff, I'm taking you home for the day."
Christy nodded and went off to go to her locker to get the rest of the stuff she needed. I wish she didn't leave because she left me with Steph and I was absolutely terrified.
"Why'd you do it?" She asked as she sat down in the seat next to me and crossed her arms.
"Do what?"
"Don't fucking play dumb on me, why did you cheat on Christy?" Steph said while moving closer to me.
"I don't know I just... it just happened and-"
"Listen I honestly don't really care why you did it. I care that you actually fucking cheated on her and broke her heart. You're lucky I'm not kicking your ass right now because you hurt my little sister. And no one fucks with my little sister. No one. Now I'm sorry you got harassed by that boy and I'm extremely proud of Christy for standing up for you but stay away from her. I don't want you near her cause you'll just hurt her again."
"Steph I didn't mean to hurt her I just-"
"Yeah I get that but in the end, you did hurt her. You're the reason why we don't see that wide, cheeky smile from her anymore." Steph said as she pointed her finger at me.
"I know and I'm so sorry for it, I promise next time-"
"Next time?! There will be no next time. You hurt Christy. She won't go back to someone who hurt her me. If for some fucking insane reason Christy takes you back, Katelyn, Maddie, and I will be watching you like hawks. Even if we suspect the slightest thing, we will be ruthless. You made a terrible mistake hurting Christy, and you're lucky. I don't care who you are or who your parents are, you cheated on her and that makes you a terrible person. Stay away from Christy."
I looked at Steph stunned. The loving older sister I once knew as Steph has turned into the overprotective older sister who protects her baby sisters at all costs. I was so happy she had someone to take care of her and love her other than me, but I was absolutely petrified of her. Steph has every right to be mad and overprotective of me. I was the person who fucked it up and I take full responsibility of what happens. I just wished it hadn't hurt so much, because I know that I had hurt Christy greatly, but it also hurt me too. To see Christy so sad and so hurt because of me made me want to punch myself in the face for doing such a thing to her.
"You can't make that choice for Christy." I said softly.
"You're right I can't." Steph said with a sigh. "But the second I hear that you hurt her again somehow, you better start running cause it's gonna be rough."
"I won't stop fighting for her." I stated proudly.
"You're going to have to fight pretty damn hard to even get her back as a friend." Steph said as she got up and walked away.
Christy's POV
I sat in the dean's office and ate lunch provided by the school. I put down the soggy bland sandwich down on the table and opened a bottle of water.
Kayla didn't seem to have touched her sandwich either and we sat in an awkward silence in the dean's office.
Great only 4 more days of lunch detention.
"How's the eye?" Kayla asked while looking directly at me.
I glanced up and I looked back down on the ground, "It's okay, it's just bruising pretty badly."
"I, um, brought some ice from the ice machine before I made my way here. I thought you could ice it a bit to help it heal faster." Kayla said while pulling something from her bag.
"Uh, I think I'm good I just-" I honestly didn't want Kayla to be talking to me, much less offering me help. I appreciated it though but I needed to get over her.
"Aw come on now, here let me do it." Kayla scooted her chair closer to me and then lightly placed the bag of ice on my eye.
She sat awfully close to me and I felt a bit uncomfortable. Kayla placed her hand softly on my shoulder as she lightly pressed the bag of ice to my eye. I felt something spark once her hand touched my shoulder. It reminded me of all the times when I would ice Kayla's ankles after her games or she would ice my shoulder and legs after mine.
I looked at Kayla and she looked at me. The odd thing was, we were looking directly into each other's eyes and we didn't say anything. We were just staring at each other for a bit. Kayla opened her mouth and was about to say something before the principal came into the room. We broke the eye contact immediately and shifted an awkward distance away from each other.
"Ah Christy, I see Kayla is helping you with your eye. How's that feeling?" The principal asks.
"It's fine." I say, not wanting to start a conversation with him.
"That's awfully nice of you Kayla, to hold the bag of ice to Christy's eye," he stated.
"Just my way of saying thanks for her standing up for me." Kayla stated.
Kayla iced my eye for another 10 minutes before taking the ice off my eye. He let us out 5 minutes before the bell rang so we could get our books before class.
I was trying to get out of there as fast as I could but Kayla stopped me.
"I just wanted to tell you that I still love you and I still care for you the same way I did 3 months ago. If you ever need anything, and I mean anything, please just let me know. If I can't be there as a lover for you, the least I can do is be a friend." Kayla said without breaking eye contact with me.
I stared at her and I didn't say anything. I honestly didn't know what to say.
"I'm still fighting for you Christy. Even if you don't want me I'll still be here. I'll still care about you the same way. I'm ever lucky enough to for you to give me a second chance, I promise you that you won't regret it." Kayla gave me a small smile.
"Thank you."
"I love you Christy."
I didn't know what to say but I just nodded my head, gave her a slight smile and walked away.
____________
How do you feel about Steph's confrontation with Kayla? If you were Christy, would you take Kayla back?
Also another huge thank you to everyone who comments on my stories and sends me messages. You guys are a huge part of why I've been so consistent with writing new chapters now. I don't know how many of you have been reading my books, but I originally started both Unlikely Happenings and Crossroads in late 2014 and now it is 2016 but I have published more chapters this month, than I ever had any other time combined. Thank you so much for the support!

It wasn't something that just magically came together. It took time and effort for them to get to where they are, and I respect that. It taught me more about how to look at things so thanks a lot for making this book. I meant a lot to me. I will definitely read the sequel and your other books" - Generik_Jay
