As we walked outside I put my gun into my waistband and covered it with my hoodie.

"Get in." Was all I said as I slid into the drivers seat and started the engine.

She nodded, did as she was told. For once.

"Now tell me everything I need to know to not die." I turned I head, pulling onto the main road per the direction she gave to me.

"The man who took everything over. Goes by Cuff, a nickname he got in prison." She started.

"Very dangerous man with a very questionable nickname. Got it."

"He kills without remorse, completely ruthless when it comes to business and he's been on my ass for about a week."

"Does he know about me?" I asked while formulating a plan or two in my head.

"You're the one think I think I've kept a secret." She sighed.

"You think? You're not sure?" I asked, annoyed. I've been mad at her all my life. So of course I'm taking out some of that frustration now.

"Nothings for sure. Does it matter?" She asked.

I thought about the plan. I needed some more information before anything could be set in stone.

"How do you expect to get my dad out of the outpost then? Are they moving him?"

Gears turned in my head, I felt them.

"Yes, to our main base of operations outside the city. We'll have to intercept the van but it shouldn't be too difficult." She said as a matter of factly.

"That sounds too easy." I told her.

"That sounds easy to you? Intercepting a van with at least 3 highly trained men?" She turned to me.

"Why are they bothering to move him anyway?" I asked.

"They know someone very smart and very dangerous is looking for him. Someone they want on their side." She said in a cryptic tone.

"Who could possibly be looking for him?" I rolled my eyes.

"You. You've been foiling plans accidentally since you escaped from the LOV. No one knows it's you. But they know you're a problem." She informed.

I wanted to laugh. They let a teenager fuck up their big shit business.

"You got a location?" I asked.

"Yep, turn here. Based on the GPS they should be here any minute." She told me. Showing the van's direction on her phone.

I took it out of her hands to look closer. They will be here any minute.

And my mother thinks I'm an idiot.

I pulled the gun from my waistband, turned off the safety and pressed it to her head.

"You keep underestimating me."

Of course I knew her plan. Say she needs my help, that she's in a weakened state. Using the hope to finally find my father to get me to trust her.

She sighed, muttered some curses before speaking.

"You really are too much like me." She muttered as I pulled into an alley.

"Get out. Now." I ordered.

As we exited the car I kept the gun trained on her. Since I know how drifty she can be.

"What you're gonna do, is drive to to wherever the hell my dad is, then get both of us out unharmed you hear me?" I threatened.

"Well I could." She murmured.

I pushed her back.

"If you don't, I'll drive you right up to UA's front door. How long have the pros been after you? A few years?" I threatened.

I saw fear in her eyes. Not because of my threats. But because the last time she really saw me, I was a little girl who wanted a normal mother. I was so sweet. So fragile. Now her little girl is threatening her with a gun.

"And if you run, I wouldn't mind pulling the trigger, are we clear?" I asked.

She gave a defeated nod. I didn't feel much safer even with her word. Probably all the broken promises she's given to me over the years.

A large black van pulled up just outside the alley. The man in the drivers seat rolled down the window with a confused expression.

"Plans changed, get out of the van." I stated, holding my mother's arm and the gun to her head.

It took them a few seconds to fully grasp what I said, but the three men, one driving two in the back eventually hopped out of the car.

They directed a few questions to my mother but she shook her head and ignored them.

I made sure I had my father's keys and made a note to come back for his car later.

All my mother told them as I forced her into the drivers side was, "I'll pay you boys later."

That seemed to be all they cared about and they walked in the direction of the train station muttering some curses and complains as I hopped into the passenger seat.

"Drive." I ordered.

She waiting a few seconds before reacting.

"You're going to turn me in aren't you?" She sighed, staring off into space.

"What kind of question is that? Of course I am."

With that, she started the car.
