《Runway | MHA + Reader | Book 2 On The Run》Thinking (of a life after)

I parked on the street outside Vikki's apartment and threw my bag over my shoulder and walked up to the door. Before I got a chance to buzz myself in I heard Vikki's voice over the intercom saying "Come on up!" The door lock clicked and I went up to her apartment.
Just like her to break into her building's security system and cameras. I missed her.
I walked up the stairs to her floor and knocked on the apartment door.
Vikki's girlfriend Anika opened the door.
"Babe! I'm sure you already know this but Y/n is here!" She yelled behind her.
"I know!" Vikki yelled from her office.
Anika rolled her eyes, out of endearment of course.
I've met Anika before but just over Skype while me and Vikki were gaming. She worked in a gym as a trainer. She's tall and built like a MMA fighter. Half Russian. She kinda scares me. But she's so sweet I can't help but love her.
I greeted her and walked past her when she opened the door further to let me in.
"Y/n."
I turned around again to look at her.
"Just, don't get my girlfriend arrested." She smiled.
I nodded of course.
And then went back to playing "extreme darts" as she called it. Really it was just her throwing cutlery at a dart board. She was too good at it.
I walked into Vikki's office. It was a small room, completely decked out with gaming and anime posters. 5 monitors. A few gaming consoles and LED lights.
"Hey Y/n, just loading up the information logs." She was leaded back in her chair, obviously in her element. She pulled up a second chair next to hers so I could sit.
"Thanks again for doing this Vik." I sat down.

"Of course, I owe you. Still not sure why you're doing it though." She tapped some keys and turned to me.
"It'd be better if you didn't know honestly." I sighed.
My mind flashed to Bakugo. It puts him in so much danger just knowing about my mother. I'm expecting the information stolen from my mother to be a cryptic message, she always loved those. So I'm not to worried of Vik finding out anything that would cause any collateral.
The security camera in front of the building flashed on screen.
"Sorry about that, it's motion activated." She went to close the tab.
I looked closer at the figure on screen. It was blurry and low quality but I could recognize her anywhere.
"Stay here." I rummaged through my bag pulled out and pulled out my gun.
"If you said that sooner I would've locked all the building's doors." She tabbed over and started typing.
I walked back into the living room, gun out pointed at the door.
"Woah! Y/n-!" Anika saw the gun in my hands.
"Step back." I said immediately. My eyes set on the door. I was locked in.
I realized my finger was already on the trigger, I regained some composure, removed it.
My mother was physically here, if this was a reflection she wouldn't have bothered to take the front door.
Knock knock.
I stepped closer to the door and opened it with my non-dominant hand. Still lazar focused on where her head would be when I opened it.
She was in casual clothes, her hood was above her head and her face was more sunken in than last time I saw her. She was in rough shape. I wasn't about to let my guard down either way.
"What the fuck do you want?" I sneered. My aim trained, the gun ready. My hands shaking. A million different reasons of her appearance flashing through my head at light speed.

"Remember when I asked you for help? The situation has become more dire." Her hands held up.
Was this a trick? Was she waiting for my guard to be down so she could stuff me into a trunk and steal me away? It's not like she could in her current state.
"Vik! How many signatures you getting in the area? Any cars, suspicious individuals?" I yelled to Vik in her office behind me.
My mother could be using this as a trap. Have her minions grab me in broad daylight.
"Nope! You're clear y/n!" She yelled.
"Y/n, who is this woman." Anika let out a whisper in a growling tone.
I should get out of here before I set off her quirk, rage.
"My mother, without her goons she's harmless." I told her. "Speaking of, I didn't expect you to go anywhere completely alone." I directed my speech back to my mother. Who was standing with her head held low.
"I've been under-minded. Everything I've built was taken over." She confessed. "That's why I needed your help before, to stop it from happening."
If her entire organization was taken over. Where's my father.
"And dad?" I signaled her to carry on.
"A safe house, a few guards."
"Then what do you need me for?" I asked.
"I'm set to leave the country, I'll help you get your father if you get me on the plane alive." She offered.
Fuck.
This is so much worse than I thought.
I knew I had to. But Bakugo's words still burned in the back of my mind.
"Please don't." Echoing over and over in my head as if he was my conscience.
Like an anchor, or a lifeline.
I couldn't stop now. Not when I was so close.
I could taste a normal life, or at least the hope of it all.
I wanted to close my eyes and imagine hugging my father, it felt like an eternity since we was telling me not to stay out to late. Asking me about school. About boys which always made me cringe. I'd do anything to have him ask me about Bakugo. My dad would like him.
I should focus on the mission at hand. Getting him back. I'll mend my relationship with Bakugo later.
"Alright." I kept the gun trained on her figure as us walked backward into Vik's office and grabbed my back.
"Thanks for everything." Was all I said to Vikki and Anika as I pushed my mother out the door and closed it behind me.
