You had been invited to the set of one of your fiancée's new films, Louisa. The script was well written and you knew he would deliver a fabulous performance (as usual).
Today, though, he wasn't his usual self. He would look at you from his spot on the soundstage with gleams of sadness in his eyes. It would break your heart but what else could you do but give him a look of support?
The director yelled cut and the crew and cast went parted ways. Scotty practically ran to you and pulled you out of the building and towards his dressing room. Once you were outside his demeanor changed, he started to walk slower and take deeper breaths.
"Honey, I've never seen you like this. What's the matter?" You asked while gently squeezing his arm.
"I'm just not in it today is all. Maybe I'm not cut out for this anymore darling. I was great as a kid but when a guy gets older things change." He leaned against his dressing room and looked down at your intertwined hands.
"I think the time has come where I try my hand at something else. We can move in together into that house we want and everything will be fine." His voice began to break. You knew he loved entertaining, but he was right to an extent, his roles were nowhere as significant as they should be. You could tell it was hard for him to see his former friends become big stars while he was still a supporting player.
"If that's what you want then I'll support you. I hate to see you upset."
His puppy-like eyes gazed into yours. He gave a half smile before pulling you to his chest and wrapped his arms tightly around you. He nuzzled his head into your hair.

"What would I ever do without you?" You sighed and held him tight. You knew he needed it.
"I'd probably be dead." He whispered, hoping you wouldn't hear. You did. Tears began to roll from your eyes but you stood there, face in his sweatshirt and arms holding him as if you're trying to hold him together, doing everything you can to give him the support he needed.
"I'll finish this film and after that I'll be through with show business." He said confidently. You pulled your face away from him to expose your watery eyes. A look of concern washed over his face while he guided you into the dressing room.
You laid down on his bed and stared up at the ceiling, he physically looked a lot better than he had prior. You could tell it was something on his mind for quite some time. He looked at you with pure admiration and love.
He leaned down on the bed, hovering over you. His arms on either side of your head while he leant down to kiss your neck. His knees were bent next to your thighs while he moved your hair out of his way.
He lightly hummed into the skin, making you moan in delight. This made him happy, he was the one doing this to you, for the first time.
"Scotty," you held the back of his neck, keeping him in place. He didn't plan on moving.
He suckled the tender skin before pulling away and engulfing you into a passionate kiss.

You laid naked in his bed while you wait for him to wrap up the rest of the days work. You thought of how beautiful he was when he left. He was rushing to button his shirt up to hide the scratches you kindly left on his chest and his back. He was combing his hair to make it look like he didn't make passionate love to his fiancée.

When he looked over at his bed, he smiled seeing the love of his life cuddling up to his pillow. He walked over to the bed and pulled the covers up to her chin, just in case someone were to walk in. He pressed a firm and tender kiss to her temple, whispering a "I love you," before walking out of the dressing room and back onto the soundstage. He thought you were sound asleep but you watched it all.
You nuzzled your head back into his pillow before falling asleep again, waiting for your lover to come back.

Journeys in the Fairworld: The Gatekeeper
Lindsey Fluger was only slightly past eighteen. There was nothing particularly special about her, save that she happened to be the right person at the right time. When Lindsey is asked to join an expedition to another world she makes the mistake of saying yes, plunging herself into a sea of perilous adventure and dark intrigue. Journeys in the Fairworld is a fantasy anthology series set in The Fairworld, a magical realm existing in parallel with our own world which is governed by a group elfin beings known only as “The Good Folk”. These mysterious entities work in secret to keep the peace between the myriad of peoples and nations which dwell in The Fairworld. Complex relationships and bitter rivalries emerge against a backdrop of constrained resources and conflicting values to produce a world of high adventure and tangled mysteries. This novel is technically already completed, and I am currently in the final stages of proofing or editing. As such, there may be a few typos and errors here and there. The final version should be about 130,000 words long, which I will be releasing in stages as I continue editing. I'd love to hear your feedback and comments! If you want to read more stories from Journeys in the Fairworld, please checkout “Journeys in the Fairworld: The Brigand of Potham”, which is also available here on Royal Road Legends. https://www.royalroadl.com/fiction/19369/journeys-in-the-fairworld-the-brigand-of-potham

It is only out of respect for the coin’s former master that the mages take him in and teach him their methods for cultivating mana. But how could an immortal renegade swordsman turn into the quiet, withdrawn man Gust always knew? What brought him to Gust’s world in the first place, and why did he never go back?
