You sat in the living room of Jimmy's home with the heavy weight of nerves. He was in the kitchen cooking dinner in anticipation for his mother's arrival. You took a sip of your red wine and flattened your dress for the millionth time.

You got up and followed your nose to the kitchen. There he was setting out the tableware, making sure everything was perfect. He glanced over to the doorway to see you dressed so elegantly. It wasn't the first time he saw you dressed up. You'd accompanied him to many a premiere, but this made you far more nervous than that.

Jimmy could read you like a book. He knew you were nervous, but this wasn't something he could call off. This was important. You didn't know but he planned to propose to you after the dinner, in front of his mother.

The doorbell rang, startling the two of you. He gave you one last look before going to answer the door. You could hear the happy greeting from where you stood. You took one last deep breath before going to greet your boyfriends mother.

"Oh you must be..." you reminded her of your name to which she grinned and pulled you for a hug.

"Jimmy sure has said a lot about you."

"Good things I hope." You chuckled nervously. James put a comforting hand on your waist before guiding you towards the living room where he poured glasses of wine for the three of you.

You found the night going better than expected. Talking to his mother was easier by the minute. You sat across from her at the table. Jimmy grazed his hand on your knee in a comforting manner.

After dinner you proceeded to do the dishes until you got pulled away by the call of your name. You walked into the living room to see the lights dimmed and a fresh bouquet of garden picked flowers on the couch. Your beloved was on one knee with a beautiful diamond ring in between his index and middle fingers.

"Well darling, I could say so much but I can't find the words. It's been a marvelous three years and I have to know, will you marry me?" You chuckled before nodding and wrapping your arms around his neck to press a tender kiss to his lips.
